Why are there not even any credible rumors about Center Backs? Other than the now-discredited Diego Carlos rumor.

Very concerned to start the season with a fatigued Badé and injured Salas and Marcão… And I won’t mention TANK (Nianzou), who lost the nickname by looking nothing remotely like a TANK over these seasons.

I can’t imagine something isn’t in store from Orta, but I think both Lopetegui and Mendilibar learned that starting a season with no points is a solid strategy for a relegation battle… And a sacking.

On top of that, it looks like our emergency safety CB could be heard to Saudi Arabia. I don’t understand why this isn’t a priority.

Nianzou is definitely a tank… a German tank in freezing temperatures during WW2 in Russia. Ineffective!

Beside CB not being a priority, it is being rumored that we’re open to accept offers for Bade. 25 million Euros is the price.

The centre back situation needs addressing urgently. I hope I’m wrong and things are happening behind the scenes but there seems to be a complete lack of urgency from the club on this front. With less than two weeks until the season starts, that worries me hugely.

Besides Hermoso, Joel Matip, Mats Hummels, John Brooks, Carlos Salcedo & Konstantinos Manolas are all free agents.

I’d be up for seeing Hunmels at Sevilla for a year or two.

I thought about that one too, but I imagine he would be too expensive. I would love someone with that kind of experience in the back though.

I believe Hummels would’ve been a much better addition at this point of time and given the circumstances (age, form etc.) compared to Ramos.

But as you mentioned Chris, he would most likely require a salary that we couldn’t afford.

There were constant rumors about a CB named Vanja Drkusic (Slovenian - never heard of him) who plays for Sochi in Russia.

Last rumor is that ‘we are not giving up on him’ or something along the lines.

To be fair, I’m not sure if he’d be the necessary addition we need at CB. We only have 1 CB that we can truly count on and that is Bade.

If Hermoso or someone of his caliber joins us then that’s a whole different thing.

Also a lot is in the air regarding the LB/LWB position.

If Acuna stays then that’s sorted - but if he leaves, the options that are circulating are not quite convincing. For example Borna Sosa… meh player.

I really hope Acuna stays - he has the potential to fit very well in GP’s strategy.
