How about the traction that Saudi Arabia is getting. If you want an extra buck for your money, seems about the right place to go drop some players. Also the amount of top names going there this year is impressive. Another worrying trend for football.
At least thereās another league somewhat competing with the Prem financially.
And Monchi getting a great transfer done. Pau Torres joining Aston Villa and the boys over there.
JosĆ© Ćngel Carmona sale has collapsed. Heās now at training with Sevilla. Ugh, we need sales!
4-player trade rumoured between us & Mallorca. It would need the players to agree on the move for it to materialize of course. Trades are hella rare and I have my doubts over it happening.
Sevilla gets:
Pablo Maffeo (transfer)
Mallorca gets:
Rafa Mir
Oscar Rodriguez
Juanlu Sanchez
Still unclear whether the Sevilla players are on loan or getting transferred. It would be lopsided if itās the latter. Maybe a combination of both? If anything, itās not a bad recruitment if Montiel is planning on moving on.
That canāt be a straight swap/transfer deal. Maffeo MV - 8million
Rafa, 10m
Oscar, 8m
and Juanlu is one of our best prospects.
Has to be a loan, or Orta is off to a terrible start.
Rodrigo Moreno taken before our noses too. So far nothing much changed in us being undecisive and hesitantly stalling all our business to act like tough negotiators or try to scrape the bottom out of the jar.
Sooooo⦠second week is done and dusted and the club have done ⦠nothing.
Not even going to get started on Rodrigo, not a world class player but at this stage he could definitely help with goalscoring and creating chances for the team. We all thought Orta would let Sevilla have a headstart on bringing him over on a loan or even a free, now heās playing in Saudi Arabia.
As for the squad no one is leaving or has even dropped a hint of leaving. We all have our own lists of players that need moving on and they are still here staying put. Better still, Jordan has come out and claimed to be injured so he wasnāt 100% and looked forward to next season, so heās not going anywhere. Either shows the board really love these players or theyāre so crap no one wants them, which in a window where the Saudis are taking any professional footballer is just tragic.
Iād love to share the optimism but this echoes the shitshow of last season where the club only made a flurry of transfers very late in the window and as a result there was no proper pre-season for the team to gell or learn the quantum mechanics of lopeball, add in some atrocious free agent signings and itās same old with an older and still imbalanced squad.
The only two players with any value, thing is most European clubs have an established goalkeeper, was hoping Inter might bite but they have lined up Sommer, and with De Gea and Handanovic as free agents thereās plenty to choose from. Bono might only end up getting bids around 20m.
Seems to be an agreement on the triple loan (Mir, Juanlu and Oscar) for Maffeo. I assume they are one year loans, and we get Maffeo on a permanent deal. So that would mean we got a decently young right back. Likely Montiel on his way out. So the Argentine enclave would become smaller which if we get some Spanish players in their place I think that would be an improvement in overall squad balance.
Romain Faivre has signed Bournemouth for Ā£13 million, so thatās another rumour killed off.
I donāt imagine there will be many players coming to the team unless they sell En-Nesyri or Bono. They have something like 35 on the squad and they need to lighten the load and find all these players minutes.
Reports that Mendi really like Juanlu and wants to keep him.
In a majority of the player interviews and reports it seems very few want to leave the squad and hope to continue at Sevilla. Iām not sure if that is a unique issue to Sevilla but that also seems to make it difficult to push players out the door as they want to compete throughout the preseason. Then finally when they understand their role contains fewer minutes and playing time, it leads to a mad dash to loan/transfer players so they can find minutes elsewhere at the end of the transfer window. Difficult situation to navigate for Orta but agree something has to be done to break away from the majority of moves being made at the end of the window. Sure they may be able to find deals but it can also lead to panicky moves and mistakes.
Couldnāt it be Mendi who has told Orta to hold his horses until Mendi has had a chance to take a good look at his squad, both on the training pitch and during the first few training matches? I have no data to support this claim, but I think most transfers are done in (late) august. I am confident that Orta is working, but as long as Mendi canāt point his fingers on those who have to go, I understand it must be difficult to pull the trigger.
Good point; however, I think Medi is a bit frustrated because of just how many folks are in camp.
Just an impression or something he has said to this effect?
I thought I saw a quote, but I donāt remember exactly where.

A Saudi club (from the middle clubs) is preparing to make an official offer to sign the Spanish player, Suso.
Suso Nation moving to Saudi Nation? ![]()
I always had my own prejudices about Suso, but they are now confirmed by the Arabic language as well. See the translation of his name from that tweet, below:
So so.
Just so so.
God letās hope not.
To continue last seasonās theme, Marcao is out for a week with a microtear in his thigh (quadriceps - had to look it up).
Also Tenerife are reportedly interested in loaning both Kike Salas and Luismi Cruz with an option to buy, which Sevilla are less keen on.

Rekik looks to be the first out. Heās hurt more than heās healthy at times, but he was a good player for us.
