Summer 2021 Sevilla Transfer Rumours etc

In my mind there’s also a limit to where competition is good. For stability reasons. Players needing to learn to play together well to create teamplay of a higher level than the sum of the players. If you put in eleven new players next week (because at this point we can), you get a whole new flow in the team.

Then there is the ego problem, for example Ocampos has a hard time being substituted always going out with a tantrum, with this many options he better prepare.

The good news is that Monchi is getting all these new signings for a bargain so far. Again only spending about 10-15 million at most and he’s the master at it. He finds gems on the cheaper side and then we make these bright prospects even better. That’s a usual trend that not always works but it’s a policy we good at overall.

The Kounde situation is still up in the air. Whatever happens I’ll be satisfied. As many of us would love to keep him as he’s the complete player and had 2 very successful seasons alongside Carlos. However, if we get 68 million that money will be crucial to help balance the books against all the new signing we making. We may even sell 2-3 more to get some money back.

Overall Monchi must feel confident he can really add to this squad making a number of signings to add to our depth but still keep us financially sound.

I think Pozo will be last minute picked up by a panicking la liga team as a cheap reinforcement for a 1 year loan.

The only proper replacement for Kounde is a duo in this case, 1 player won’t cut it, especially the ones that are currently rumored. It would take a Jerome Boateng and a Kabak to properly replace him - otherwise it’s a failure and we’ll regret it during the season.

It’s a bit harsh because he is one of our best players and has a great work rate in overall, but he wasn’t missed too much last night vs. Rayo. Additionally, the game flowed much better without him, even without Idrissi as we were connecting very well and playing dynamically in the second half when Papu and Lamela came in.

This goes to show that holding the ball doesn’t do us any good, especially with the Lope style of play.

We need speed and speed is compromised when you have selfish players in the formation. Also I’d like to see Oscar starting more instead of Rakitic this season.

Luis Fabiano had one leg shorter than the other and he was OK :grinning:

I think we should let Idrissi have one full season at the club and judge him then. He’s still a decently young player and he has time to grow, last year was a tough season for everyone involved

Yes, looks like quite a big refresh (with several upgrades) is happening at Sevilla this summer. Delaney is an upgrade on Gudelj, Corona in many ways an upgrade on Idrissi (imo of course), Lamela is likely to be an upgrade on Suso, but the team is still missing a real high quality proven goalscorer up front. If Monchi can work his magic to fix that issue this month, Sevilla would indeed be a serious contender for La Liga title and should go further into CL than they did so far.

Boateng is past his best since a couple of years now, tbh - and for me has always been a bit overrated due to his tendency to mess up through lack of concentration/overconfidence when he thought he was a mix of Beckenbauer and Maldini
Kabak may be a better option as a younger, more mobile CB but did not impress much when he stepped up from Bundesliga to EPL?
It’s pretty hard to replace a player like Kounde this year and most options that can be completed would be somewhat of a gamble of course.

YEN will also be out for a month during African nations cup

That’s a good point. Man with the way we were getting width yesterday DeJong could be an option. Just gotta get it to his head.

I do expect him to move though and for us to bring someone in.

Do we have any strikers linked? The Joselu transfer seems to have fallen through, and while I like Sadiq, we need someone who is available during AFCON. We can’t just play with Ivan Romero, while he seemed alright, I don’t think he’s ready to step up to that challenge.

I feel like Sadiq will stay at Almería, he said he doesn’t mind and they had offers from multiple la Liga clubs but probably nobody will pay more than 20m so that one can be crossed off only if they get desperate. Haven’t seen much striker rumours either, also de Jong, Munir. Just nothing in the media, but maybe things we don’t know and will find out shortly. I don’t want to expect it, but while he is at it, maybe giving us a cherry on top at the end

I thought Lamela formed a double strike pair with YEN because he gets in there in positions that Suso wouldn’t pitch up.

Koundé’s clausula has increased €10m during August so Sevilla have every reason to hold out and Chelsea may have blown it.

Corona looking more likely, judging by the press coverage he just needs the passport which should be a formality :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: This is just so good

Turkish news outlets claim Jose Mourinho’s Roma eyes for Ozan Kabak along with Leicester City.
They also state that Sevilla’s offer of 10m has been rejected by Schalke, as they want 15m for the player.

Yep, there was a clause in his contract that increased it August 15th I think was the date.

According to ElDesmarque, talks with Tecatito have stalled due to the player’s valuation being deemed too high for a player of that age. Last i read on the numbers, €12M was accepted by Porto, who owned 66.5% of his rights; an agreement was then made w/ Twente who own 30%; and the final 3.5% belonging to Corona himself apparently causing an issue. But now it’s being said that no formal offer has actually been submitted.

Despite having received his Portuguese passport, Sevilla are looking at younger options for the position, as the Guedes alternative has also been discarded. Perhaps we’re lingering as a tactic, but you just never know with Monchi.
