Summer 2021 Sevilla Transfer Rumours etc

Never thought I’d see the day haha! The big 3 are all in a bit of disarray. It’s our time to shine. Vamos Sevilla! :stuck_out_tongue:

Why is everything so quiet? Looks like we are content with the team as it is…

We have to step up man, How do you think new signings are gonna fit in the team as the new season is about to start very soon?

Don’t think it stays like this. But the kounde deal first has to become a reality. Bordeaux get about 10m of the sum. And then we can confirm some of our deals. The rumours don’t stop about wingbacks but also Shaqiri again popping up. Makes sense since he’s a 30 year old winger…

We still have till august 31st to make signings. There’s still time but ideally it’s better to get them in before season starts. I’m still confident monchi will come up with a few gems before the end of the window. We probably are waiting on the kounde deal to happen first though.

I’ve heard Sevilla are going for Nahuel Molina, 23 year old right back from Udinese who is , above all, Argentine.

Another is Sevilla have bid 10m euros for Kabak.

Moves are happening, just not the ones we want.

I trust monchi’s judgement so I’m excited what possible new players we adding.

We’re apparently interested in Boubacar Kamara from Marsielle. Seems like a good player, but I feel he would be overly-expensive

Good call, I don’t have the answer but I’m sensing something big happening behind the scenes. The preseason games were announced weeks ahead by tv scheduling but not confirmed officially by the club until days before, in the case of PSG just 48 hours. A hastily arranged game with Koundé just back but not playing. Hmmm.

It could be covid related I suppose, like the Aston Villa game got called off.
It’s probably just that the transfer market is like a giant jig-saw problem and the pieces have to fall in place one at a time, often from the top of the pyramid down. Now Messi has upset the table and the pieces are mixed up again.

But the behaviour of Sevilla certainly seems to have evolved into something more secretive and cautious.

Speaking of the Messi situation upsetting the table - of course it won’t be that Lamela will request to leave (like Aguero) after Messi is gone, but do you think Messi in Barcelona had an impact of him wanting to join our club?

De Paul in Atletico too when you think of it. Luis Suarez is approaching retirement so he won’t be too disappointed.

Kounde’s situation is complicating things. Reportedly Lope asked Monchi for 2 CB’s, 1 LB and 1 RB, 1 versatile midfielder and a striker.

We’ve usually finished business early in the transfer window, but this time it could very well mean that we’ll have 5-6 new players join the club as the season begins.

I think everyone needs to move on from Messi. The guy has been amazing but he’s 34 and at the end of his career. There is no player in football history bigger than a league.

My opinion is it will be better he’s gone. It gives others the chance to shine and the league much more competitive. It was tiring seeing Messi constantly finishing top goalscorer. It’s time for new blood and memories for Spanish football.

I bet the likes of us and many other clubs won’t be sad he’s gone. It gives us a better chance of finishing above Barca too. We were only 2 points behind them last season and Messi basically saved them from finishing below us and out the top 3.

I’m sad that we didn’t win La Liga while he was still with Barca. I understand your perspective, but I’m definitely very sad that such a player leaves too. It’s another thing not wanting competition, but Messi made La Liga much more exciting in overall, especially with the Barca of golden era featuring Xavi, Iniesta etc.

I also think that even though fresh blood is definitely needed, Messi will not necessarily make Barca a weak club, they will still compete for the title or at least top 3 and we can’t forget Atletico and RM who are the top contenders anyway. If we want to go with the ‘less competition’ route then we’d have to wish for Atletico and RM to sell most of their squad without proper replacements - or maybe get banned altogether because of the Superleague initiatives so that we get the first place? I don’t think we’d really want that. The tougher the competition the better in overall.

I believe we wouldn’t be the club we are today, or Atletico for that matter, if it wasn’t for the competition. Atletico became a top club and we are on the verge of doing so, but the same cannot be said for clubs in France other than PSG for instance. Or clubs in Italy other than Juve, Inter… maybe Milan to some extent but still not there recently. Then Germany… maybe except Dortmund at times.

I understand what you saying. Yes the golden eras of la liga were great to watch. Although the competition was too much for us to win la liga then. Trying to win la liga against prime Barca and Real Madrid sides with prime/peak Messi and Ronaldo was pretty much impossible.

I’m all for competition but balanced competition is the best. A more open league where there are genuinely a few contenders to win the league and the top teams can slip up now and then.

I agree we still have it all to do. Still I’m not particular impressed with Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid either. Atletico won it last season but they were far from convincing and they were poor in Europe.

La liga is going through a rougher patch but it will get strong again. New stars will come and they will be special sides again. I hope we can be apart of this new era of doing special things and no reason why not? Under lopetegui we had 2 great seasons and hopefully we can kick on again or at least match this season. The future is bright for us.

The big 3 will get stronger again but right now we have an opportunity to fight with these teams again and make la liga even more competitive and unpredictable.

I really hope Lamela is not the versatile midfielder or else it would be a shitstorm, other than that no deals in other positions whatsoever. Javi Galan is still available, could a late cheeky bid be on the cards?

Competitive-wise it would do well to even the playing field, I’m just worried about the sponserships and tv broadcast rights. When la liga had 2 household names in Messi and Ronaldo broadcasters paid top dollar for rights to show their matches on their stations. Even when they played against other second tier sides such as us we would benefit from a wider exposure, happy to see us starting to give them a run for their money in the last few seasons.

Without Ronaldo fans would still flock to see Messi do his magic but now people would struggle to find any names unless they’ve been following La Liga closely. This season Real’s main draws would be Benzema, Modric and Kroos; Rodrygo and Vinicius may come to good but its too soon for that. Barca’s big names are Griezmann, Pique, Depay and Aguero provided he stays, Fati and Pedri in the wings. At Madrid have Suarez then it’s Oblak and Felix, I would be surprised if non la liga watchers can name more than Navas and Rakitic for Sevilla, Gil and Kounde would’ve been nice. So long term things could be better but for the next 2 years I don’t think La Liga could really benefit.

Totally agree, Sevilla were a bit lucky to keep being competitive tbh; Valencia had a few years where they were genuine contenders and Atletico were perennially knocking on the door, Depor and Zaragoza were also threats until falling off due to various reasons. Monchi’s model of signing under the radar quality players paid off but now with every club paying attention to scouting things aren’t as easy as before.

I recall there being an end-of-season thread but my computer had already given out by then so I’ll give my two cents here. Lope’s first season was drab as heck for the first half and I remember there even was a protest by the biris after knocking out Cluj with a draw at the RSP. Credit to Lope and players for keeping sharp and charging out of the gates for a strong finish to the season.

We had hopes for the second season and did pretty well until the second half where they flunked some big games, namely being schooled by Dortmund which rejuvenated them to a strong finish and giving up a strong 2-0 lead to Barca at the Copa Del Rey, the late charge for top 4 was a pleasant surprise but we knew chances were slim given the lack of depth compared to other teams. So for me it was a pass, nothing more.

In order to take the next step 2 major changes are needed, squad depth and change in tactics. Not seeing a lot for the first part and in some regards we are even weaker than last season; for the second part I think Lope could have something up his sleeve but the pressure is on if he can’t deliver when other teams have lost key players.

Agreed. If RM do not sign Mbappe (given Messi goes to PSG), it’s game over for La Liga when it comes to superstars and excitement, especially with the plastic fans nowadays.

If Messi was still in his prime like 26-27 I could understand people saying it’s bad or a bigger miss for la liga. The fact is though he’s been out his prime for a while now and he’s 34. Messi is still great but not what he was at his peak and is slowing down. He’s done everything he can for Barca and la liga and there’s nothing else to see to be honest.

At some point the show must go on and players come and go. Just like the Real Madrid zidane players era and Ronaldinho era at Barca. It’s the circle of life and we at the end of an era with Messi. It had to happen sometime so now is that time. I actually think it’s not much a big deal because la liga took the first hit when Ronaldo left. When both were in la liga and younger it was more of a big thing and rivalry in Spain.

I doubt Real Madrid get Mbappe. They pretty much skint like Barca and atletico. All the big 3 are in a serious financial plummet right now. It’s not gonna be easy for any of them to get out the hole they in.

I’m not bothered about superstars as football is a team game first and foremost. What we want at sevilla is the right players who will give us quality and also fight for the club to make the fans proud. A never surrender type mentality which is our motto. Maybe, these big 3 will now get a taste what it’s like for us and other la liga clubs who don’t have the luxury of being bailed out by 1 player time and time again. That’s why all put achievements have all been so impressive as it’s been done mostly without superstars and not spending the crazy money these other top 3 clubs do.

One great thing for us is castro and monchi have us very financially secure right now. If we get the right money for Kounde we can use that wisely to improve squad but still make a net profit to balance the books. It’s smart business and we on the whole been good at this.

This is kinda random but the modern transfer market is absolutely insane

Jack Grealish to Manchester City for a 100 million quid!?!? Don’t get me wrong Grealish is a good player but he’s not worth that money goodness gracious.

And Lukaku back to Chelsea for 110 million euros? It’s honestly just insane how much money big teams (especially the Premier League teams) have these days
