Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina on the list. I’ve seen him rumoured with world top teams before. Plus he’s young compared to some of the others on the short list. Could potentially be the best kounde replacement
I hope it’s true, cause i really rate Milenkovic. But part of me thinks that agents know Sevilla are looking for CBs, so they’ll just throw their clients’ name out there.
Out of the ones rumoured, give me anyone of Zouma, Milenkovic, or Boateng. Hopefully this week, so they could at least get a run out against Villa.
That’s crazy talk. This guy would be €50m+
Decent signing, he’s 1.95 and can play at right back so could be good cover, just hope he can do the Kounde recovery tackles, that’s easily worth 30m and a reason I’m reluctant to let him leave - not more than a dozen active defenders can do that consistently.
And @ChrisLail , did you get a chance to ask podspur about Lamela?
We discussed it a bit. I didn’t have a lot to ask, but it’s in there towards the end.
Milenkovic is still alright, but Maksimovic is crap, and we’re rumored to be interested in both.
What ever happened to finding good ol’ talent with a lot of potential in Ligue 1? Why is Monchi so preoccupied with Serie A when most of the folks we signed from there failed, while most of the folks we signed from Ligue 1 have shined (give or take)?
We’ve signed Kounde and Diego Carlos from Ligue 1 and now Monchi is not looking there at all… they’re short of CB’s or what?
There seems to be a lot of interest in Ligue 1 players from the UK. Maybe he feels we will be out bid for players from quite a few Prem sides so he’s looking elsewhere.
At first glance you’d think you could get a bargain from France due to the financial issues with the lack of tv revenue. But I feel these clubs are offering out players with good value to all clubs and trying to get as much as possible. Which may in turn count us out.
Only my opinion of course. Surely you’d think players would rather sign for Sevilla over the likes of West Ham ect but they possibly could offered big wages.
No need for us to over pay for anyone at this time.
Ligue 1 is loaded with talent, but the giants have their eyes on all teams now and the big talents like Camavinga are just waiting to be bought for the right price. Sevilla are better off looking at second tier unknowns, both Carlos and Kounde were relatively unknown before Monchi snapped them up
Monchi mentioned in an interview that he has an excel sheet for each league with all key data listed out, it’s safe to assume he has one for Ligue 1 as well, after watching Doku at the Euros I’d love to have him but that could be a bit out of budget.
Tottenham are readying a 50m euro offer to Cristian Romero, shows they do have the cash. Just that Monchi and co. thought getting Lamela would be a great deal, this better come to good…
We’ve gotten just as many failures as succes stories from ligue 1. For every Kounde and Carlos we had a Amadou, Gagnon, Corchia, Lopes etc…
Bias because I’m Dutch. But I feel like the Dutch league has some nice talents who could be picked up for not so much. Yes we had Idrissie and De Jong who underpeformed, but I did predict that even before they joined that they would fail here.
But for example:
Teun Koopmeiners who’s valued at 16mil, very solid player would easily fit our squad to replace Joan Jordan due to the similar playstyles.
Edson Alvarez valued at 14mil, who’s raw but with the guidance of Fernandes for a year or two I’m sure he could replace him well.
Mazraoui valued at 17 mil can be the solution to our right-back situation. Works very hard just like Navas, I’m sure Youssef would endorse this move.
Giakoumakis valued at just 2,5 mil, I’m not sure if he is super instant first team but at that price and given he scored 26 (league best) goals in 30 games with the second-worst team in the league (that relegated) I think you can pick him up for next to nothing so it’s a small gamble I would be eager to make.
I know Ajax solidified their presence on the transfermarket and now, in contrast to the L. Suarez era, knows to wait and let the value of their players grow and get a good price instead of selling right away. But the other clubs in the league are not like that and their players can be ripped of like stealing candy from a kid. So if Monchi could just give these clubs a call about for example these players, I am sure we could snatch a young player that is or will be very solid for a good price. Plus I can imagine that Sevilla can outbid (wage-wise) every Dutch club easily, so wages shouldn’t be a problem as long as you’re the only foreign club bidding. Maybe Ajax is an exception again, but I know they follow somewhat strict wage-caps since they’re on the public stockmarket.
As I said, I only watch Sevilla games. So the information I’ve got is mostly based on stats (i’m going to college as a data engineer, so I like that stuff) and what friends tell me. But many young players I’ve seen play in real life, as I do ofter attend the Dutch u21 games because I can for free. So I’ve seen plenty of Boadu and Koopmeiners and such so I am 100% positive about Koopmeiners being a good signing for Sevilla as long as he’s able to adapt to the culture/language/country.
So long story short: I hope Monchi’s next fortune cookie says "BUY TEUN KOOPMEINERS, and get the Greek as a side-dish."
We were in talks with clubs for Idrissi, who decided to decline them. So that’s bad news, we got ourselves into some trouble. Players not wanting to leave, eventho the trainer doesn’t like them, and will hardly use them. Overpaying for mediocrity who then sit on their contract. Great.
Would be a perfect signing and upgrade on Jordan, guy can do it all and added goal scoring to his play, scoring 33 in the last two seasons, with 6 of them in continental competition. His name was hot property before the euros but things have died down so I reckon a 20m bid should do it.
AZ have been a rising force in the the Netherlands and have challenged the traditional powerhouses Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord in the past few seasons. Aside from Koop I also like Wijndal, Stengs and Boadu. Interestingly, Idrissi also came from AZ, right club but wrong signing.
So… Idrissi declined them? Nice.
Edit: Apparently Chelsea have included forgotten man Kenedy plus cash after Zouma declined to be part of any deal for Kounde. I want to laugh but am secretly afraid Monchi will take it.
At least Idrissi wants to prove himself. I don’t like the fact he went back to the Netherlands last January to try to get playing time. It felt like he ran from the challenge.
It is a backup role, but there’s players out there i would prefer in his place, in case Ocampos has himself another bad scoring season.
Agree with that, he should have wanted to prove himself last year or needed to prove himself at Ajax. He literally did none. Now the staff is making up their mind, and leading him on a way out. Clearly showing their intentions. He has to show up twice as hard now, coz the gesture is already telling how many chances he is gonna get. Good luck.
Turkish news outlets say Sevilla is very close to sign Joselu, which gives way to LDJ coming to Beşiktaş. The thing is he has another offer from PSV, and the family preferring to relocate to Netherlands.
Apparently Munir’s agent has spoken out about his future too, nobody can match what Sevilla ask for a player like him. His contract runs till 2023 and he has no intentions on leaving. So thats another one sitting on the contract. I do like Munir, but he’s so misused. He’s a clutch player, He made multiple first touch winners when he comes of the bench. But never get’s a good run of games. Also Rakitic said, he’s probably the funniest teammate as well, so that speaks for the group atmosphere.
Chelsea bidding 120-130m for Lukaku is crazy! If they got that kinda money, pay up for Kounde!
Wait for real? Are they trying to pull a fast one on us?
New rumour in Italian media, Sevilla and Lyon interested in Florenzi, price would be around 8m and he expexts around 3m a year salary. He wants new expirience away from Italy. I think that he is good back up for Navas, but he is another 30 years old player, so mixed feelings about this.
Messi is leaving Barcelona. Can’t wait to see them implode this season
Let’s see
- Argentine
- An offensive player
- Over 30
- Would fit in well with the South American contigent
- Is suited to La Liga
That’s it folks, Monchi’s master plan has been revealed - he was waiting for Leo Messi all along. Argentine football legends have a unique connection at Sevilla, just look at Maradonna, Ocampos, Papu Gomez, Acuna and Lamela. It’s written in the stars, so it only makes sense for him to follow Diego’s footsteps and make RSP his stomping ground.
