Summer 2021 Sevilla Transfer Rumours etc

I would love to sign Celik from Lille, and Javi Galan from Huesca. Celik will cost around the 25m-30m zone I think, but he’s well worth it

From ESPN:

14.56 BST: Sevilla have joined the race to sign Turkish fullback Zeki Celik from Lille, Mundo Deportivo reports.

Celik, 24, is a target of several European clubs including Roma and Tottenham. Sevilla are looking for a replacement for the veteran Jesus Navas, who becomes a free agent this summer, and Celik is considered the ideal candidate.

Sevilla sporting director Monchi has monitored the player, who could be available for a transfer fee of around €20m.

The Turkish defender, who has a contract with Lille until June 2023, has scored three goals in 30 games for the French club this season.

I’ve read this is the LB most likely to come in. Anyone know how good he is?

I agree with all of this. But is there even any room for him? And tbh, based on what we’ve seen so far, i prefer him to the options we currently have. It would require relegating either Suso or Papu to the bench. If Monchi is going after him, it would tell me he’s tryna take our squad depth to the next level.

I’ll say this all summer, if there’s no one on the team good enough to force Lope’s hand into benching Suso or Ocampos, we’ll be right back where we’re at. And again, the players coming in better have some pace!

Javi Galan has the second most dribbles in la liga, only behind Messi. He attempts more, (and completes more) dribbles than anyone else in la lira bar Messi, and bar Traore in the top five leagues. (Highest dribble completion [80.2%] out of the top 10 best dribblers in Europe) He’s completed roughly twice as many as Ocampos this season (I think that’s right). His release clause is only 7m. Granted, I haven’t seen him play that much, but he looked like Huesca’s best player, and was very good in attack.

Yes would be a hell of a good buy. I also said before if we manage to pick up Galan, we have double defensive wing option for other strategy. Galan left mid, Acuna left back, opposition can prepare to run.

Javi Galan (LB) and Zeki Celik (RB) and we’re set for full backs and back-ups for 2021-22! Always assuming Navas extends of course.

Galen sounds like he’d be a great pickup. Would Sevilla want to pay a backup LB enough wages to convince him to be a role player? I can’t see more than a few LBs in the world knocking Acuna out of his starting role given the tremendous (at or near the best defensive LB in the world) latter half of the season he had. I agree that Escudero is not sufficient.

We convince them with the Champions League.

Do you think Monchi will put a bid in for them?

I really liked Sarabia, but is he even good fit for us at this moment? He is player like Papu, Oliver, Oscar in midfield and can play on wing, but he is to similar to Suso. In his last season with us, he played attacking midfielder behind Andre Silva and WBY, now we have completely different system. I would rather have really fast winger, who can deliver goals. Other possibility is that we sell someone like Papu or Oliver :man_shrugging:

Not that it comes as a surprise, but Nice will not use their option to sign Rony Lopes. There’s also a report that say he may be used in the Guedes deal.

We also got linked w Zenit striker Sardar Azmoun. Not sure it’s true, but was said to be a target in the past.

Daichi Kamada, Japanese attacking midfielder for Frankfurt is linked. 24 years old, 5 goals and 12 assists with Frankfurt this year and is apparently valued at 16m. Tottenham are also interested, but Champions league football seems more interesting than not even playing in the europa league.

Don’t know too much about him, but from what Ive seen, he could be a decent signing

Really Good call. I like it. Looks like an unselfish player, from what i’ve seen in the videos. Plenty of assists last year show this as well. A good key passer, in upfront areas, for sure will be a great addition.

Also on the side, the branding and attention from Asian Culture or in this case Japanese is never bad. Its insane how it can turn to the headlines, and how their support for idols goes there. Especially when they are doing well, like Heung Min Son topping the bar there. I’ve seen this literally, when my local bottom tier Eredivisie team managed to get Keisuke Honda as a youngster. Greatly talented midfielder with awesome kicking, passing and vision and appearance, single handedly lead a group of below average players to get results against PSV or Feyenoord. And to a 12th position in the table, amazing year and basically the player who’d you come to the stadium for. My dad bought me a full season ticket to go with him and Keisuke made it a pleasure, game after game. And after those years, they were the 5th or so most famous football club in Japan at the time just behind the likes of Barcelona, Man Utd or Real Madrid. Really incredible.

Was this at VVV? He was killing it those days. Even at national team level, he was a problem. And then did he the same when he came here with his CSKA squad… :pensive:

Someone needs to save this guy from that hell called Tottenham. Too much quality not to be winning something

Yes VVV-Venlo. They demoted last week and had a 12 game losing streak or something like that this year. They need to build it up again in the second division. They also had the topscorer in the Eredivisie this year, which is crazy for a demoting team. Giakoumakis scored 26.

Unpopular opinion: i’d be fine if our starting XI from this season stayed intact with no alterations. :no_mouth:

I mean, we’d still be favorite to finish top 4 so it wouldn’t be catastrophic. I’d still like to see 2-3 upgrades, though.

Call them out!

If the whole starting XI stays together, it wouldn’t be so bad. But we need better rotational players, both full backs, striker who is better than De Jong and backup for Fernando.

Next up on the rumour mill, Paul Onuachu, 2 meter tall Nigerian goal scoring giant. 26 years old, scoring about 30 goals in Belgium.
