Summer 2021 Sevilla Transfer Rumours etc

More names added to the fray: Jonathan Clauss, RB out of Lens & Lucas Torró, DM from Osasuna w/ a €10M release clause. Don’t really know much about either, but Monchi do your thing!

Interesting that Oscar Rodriguez is with him. Has to be an important topic. Considering what we expected and I imagine himself as well. Lope isn’t incorporating some younger player, is the skill gap that big? In a way I think its fear of risk he likes stability, and experience and probably chooses a roster of 30 year olds if he could. But Oscar his free kicks and work rate for example against Dortmund where suddenly he was put in, were good to see. I think similarly to Rakitic when he first came, he wasn’t undisputed but it showed promise and more and more as he got the games he got. Gudelj has its use. But this is also just a fear from Lope. Needing to grasp on to the scoreboard. Biting nails till its over. Everytime you put in Gudelj is loss of playing time for the future. And for us it works mostly, but also some negatively and in general. Substituting too defensively too early will always bite you in the ass.

That’s the conflicting part about Lope to me. Results (fantastic) vs. Perspective and Promise (is this going anywhere? next year will showcase I guess). All those wins with little to few chances sealed by Nesyri for example. Ofcourse partly class of our team and Youssef but at the same time the reason it’s nailbiting time for some of us.

Joules Kounde was just named to the France Euro 2021 squad…if he is able to break into the starting 11 and has a great tournament you know the big boys will come after him with huge offers this summer. Man United and Real Madrid would lead that charge I suspect.

The big boys are coming for Kounde. Likely Varane goes to PL and that € goes to buying Kounde. I’d rather keep him but for €60 million or so it may benefit Sevilla due to our needs in MF and likely a new RB.

I truly hope that we hold on to him this summer, but if he does happen to leave then I truly hope that Sevilla only accept his full release clause of 80m. I do think if he does have breakout performances in the Euro’s we are in good position to cash in on him this summer, but the youth, talent and potential development that Kounde has warrants holding out for someone to meet his actual release clause.

Anything below 80 million is low for Kounde to be honest.

You could be right re Oscar. Perhaps discussing sending him out on loan?

I would keep him, but actually play him. Give him 20 full games a season atleast. not 4 like Lope did this year. I’m 100% sure he will score 5 and do reasonably well with a good number of assists and continue to grow and grow. If you play him 4 times and rest substitute he won’t. Maybe even if you play him 40 games, he wil score 10 like he did with Leganes, I can see it. But let’s not waste him like this.

Also. if the other 10 players around him can’t carry the game there is a problem. And it would hold back Bryan Gill as well, as long as we have Lope as a coach, he would put any other experienced player in there. No room for youth. Create a super strong 9 man core (with experienced players) and let Bryan and Oscar develop and start 20 games (every other game).

If that bit of youth is too much for Lope, there is no future with him, and we will eventually plummit down.

I hear there’s a striker looking to leave Tottenham. We should definitely pull out the checkbook and make an offer

I’d say pre pandemic €80 million would be achievable for Kounde. I’m just not sure that number is realistic this summer. I’ve read some quotes that lead me to believe Kounde is ready to leave so Sevilla won’t be negotiating from a position of total strength. I’d love to see €80 million come in, however.

Great conversation here. If we take anything short of Kounde’s clause (rumored at 90 million euros not 80) it will be a travesty; especially when we had offers for over 60 in the summer.

As for Guedes, I would pass. I don’t see the fire in him to succeed. Maybe he had it at one time.

Sarabia - hells to the yes.

Ramos - we have mentioned it a few times before. I can’t see it working out. He for one has a terrible history with the Biris. He left the club in a terrible way and frankly, I just don’t think he is that good anymore, especially with the injuries.

Chris is coming in here with the logical responses to everything and killing the fun. I just wanna spend time in a delusional world where Sevilla buys Haaland, Mbappe, and Kane this summer. :joy:

And it’s a shame that I have but one upvote to give to this comment.

I hope you’re right. My thought process for why €80 million plus is unlikely is the chatter that Kounde is ready to leave. If that wasn’t out there then yes, Sevilla should sit back and say “meet the clause or go away.” I guess these next 3 months will answer our questions about that, though.

He has 27 league appearances with one of the top few clubs in the world this season. I admit to not watching more than 3-4 PSG matches this season but based off those numbers alone, he’d likely be an instant upgrade here.

He’d be on a free so that’d be a cheaper plug in for a sold Kounde assuming his Real Madrid level salary drops. If Kounde is sold and that money goes to a scenario like Sarabia, Torreira, a younger RB and Ramos comes on a free, next years team will be better than this years. Wont guarantee results points wise, but talent wise, absolutely.

For me a midfield of Jordan and Torreira in the back (Rakitic and Fernando to spell them) and Sarabia up front would be dynamic. Personally I’d roll with the CFs and wingers we have minus maybe De Jong and expect more production from Papu next year. Finding the right guy to bring in at RB should be a priority, as well.

More than any other position, we need to strengthen at fullback. It’s the most demanding post in the game, and our attack is night & day depending on who plays there. Navas & Acuña are great, but the dropoff between them and their backups cannot be similar to other positions. I’d even be fine if the attack stayed the same (with Bryan Gil ofc), as long as we have proper stand-ins at RB & LB.
