The vultures are circling. Now Villarreal coming for Vargas… oh how times have changed.

If we can sell everyone, have a shitty season, go down and have all the debt solved, whould you be ok with that?

I would 100% be okay with that. This is basically how I view it through the eyes of ‘game theory’. I believe selling everything will have the lowest long term risk and highest potential return:

I’d 100% be in favour of selling all our players, having no debt and going down to Segunda for a year or two (no more than that). If you go down with no debt and a much lighter salary load, you can make any further sales from players who have shown promise over the course of the season to try and balance lost revenue in Segunda.

If you sell off one or two of your best players but still go down, then you have debt + lost revenue and a high(er) salary load which would basically kill the club and you could either go bust or plummet down further

Financially we’d definitely be better off. If we sell more then we probably better equipped to build a new squad in segunda. The worst scenario is not selling and still going down. That means still high debt and also relegation.

Ideally we sell a lot and still stay up and then we can try build slowly again in top flight next season but will be tough.

The next few days crucial as few players linked with exits like Vargas, Lukebakio, Juanlu, carmona. We will see who goes/stays and who we try sign in final couple of days. We will see how the finances and squad looks after the window shuts.

The issue is how will we sell? Marcao and Nianzou, high earners in the team, arent out of contract for a couple of years. Januzaj too, we may eventually sell the likes of Vargas, Lukebakio or Juanlu because we have to, but the others would be far better to get rid of. If we had that money we could even reinvest more in the team. Last season we finished 17th, a point above Leganes. This year we won three matches. We have lost Sambi, Badé, Saul, among others. So what facilities are here to stay in the division? How long is Matias Almeyda going to last before he inevitably gets fired? How much experience does he have keeping teams out of the bottom three? We’re so fucked, and theres no light at the end of this very long tunnel.

Good point. I would think going down would motivate Marcao, Nianzou, and the others took move rather than to play in Segundo, but they don’t really play First division either, so maybe they don’t give a shit.

Who will pay for them? A mid or low level team in la liga? An English championship side? I would advise the board to accept a packet of crisps and a crisp 20 euro note for the likes of the deadwood we have but really how will they offer them a salary they will accept? Its become a Jack Rodwell at Sunderland type situation

No doubt. Maybe they have segunda clauses in their contracts

They’re just pathetic freeloaders at this point.

I still think Marcao can help us a bit in defense… no hope for Januzaj though.

Gabriel Suazo and Alfon registered from today

Going down to Segunda could also mean the end for the club. We have seen clubs over the years succumb due to poor management and disastrous financial situations.

So Segunda could very well be the last nail in the coffin. We’re on thin margins… after years of years of total mismanagement from the shameful board.

I think we should fight with all we have and stay in La Liga this season then try to rebuild slowly and get better financially.

The consecutive European qualifications and the EL trophies have spoiled us to not thinking about the worst. The worst is at the door.

This is a brutally honest opinion from a user in Hastalamuerte forum of Sevilla FC:

100% agreed and think alike.

Some good news at last. Suazo has to start. He impressed in pre season.

I would start both of them. We have got nothing to lose.

Might as well because what we tried so far hasn’t worked. There are injuries too so they should come in.

Had these discussions at my own club and I’m amazed anyone can think that at a club with debt problems, going down to Segunda is the answer. It involves a massive revenue drop and loss of prestige. Not only that but it is never as simple as “we’re a big club, a season or two in Segunda and we’ll soon be back.” Doesn’t work that way. Just ask Malaga, Depor or Zaragoza. The first two have been down to third level in recent seasons, and Zaragoza are flirting with it. Segunda is a tough league to get out of and doesn’t care about a team’s history.

Stanis to Monaco for 10 mil.? We need the money, I get it, but gutted to see him go. He had some x-factor and the fact that he leaves before f***ing Januzaj or any of the other deadweight is just making my blood boil.

Now selling the whole squad doesn’t make much sense either. There should be a balance.

In other news, it would not be bad to get Cesar Azpilicueta for a change.

He brings experience if we get him. The problem is he 36 and been very injury prone at atletico last 2 years. I feel this might be another Sergio Ramos. Been a great player but obviously we getting him when he massively declined, old and injury prone.

I guess in our situation we desperate though.
