The situations are incomparable tho. We won 1 in 10 at the start with him. That could have continued as well. Don’t keep holding onto the past with Kounde and Carlos.
its one thing to lose, its another to stop trying. Absolutely shameful and I expect an apology from everyone.
I still regardless of kounde or Carlos, lope is better organiser of a team than sampaoli.
With these players and style we hung in more matches with lope. It only went wrong at end because I think he knew he was going and the players did.
Sampaoli tries to play attacking football but it’s not balanced with defence and these players don’t suit him. We look all over the place at the back. In a defensive aspect he’s a step back on lope.
Looking at Jordan his appearance, expressions and play is painful and sorry.
I don’t think it’s fair to say that about Rakitic of the last 2 months. He’s been actually one of our better players, and has bailed us out a few times. On the other hand, Jordan has never, and will never complement him in midfield.
I feel Sampaoli has been more of a defense-first manager recently, we just don’t have the players available to play them consistently. If we had played his more gung-ho approach of the past, we’d see similar type of scorelines to the one today.
on the plus side, at least pape gueye played well, and him getting sent off makes me like him more. sure, the suspension hurts but it shows that he actually cares. Id rather be sent off out of frustration than allow myself to stop caring.
One thing I will give sampaoli credit for is he has made us a bit better at home. Overall apart from osasuna tough loss we have improved at RSP. He has got more out of YEN and more out of our creative players. Gueye and Ocampos give us more going forward.
We have to maintain that now to stay up. I will agree this squad is weak so to be fair to Sampaoli it’s only party his fault. I agree any manager would struggle. The sevilla board have left us so weak in defence and midfield. Even up front we only have YEN in any form.
We just got to hope we survive and massive changes are needed in summer. As this current model and regime is destroying the club.
To be honest I would let Samps stay as overall it’s not his fault with the pack of cards given. Just feel in this situation he’s probably not ideal guy for a relegation fight but the main blame lies with the board.
You can get it via Sky, but it’s an extra sub.
To see what chans the games are on I always use this site
That is exactly what I thought. I could see it coming, our defence was getting ripped apart every time AM came forward.
Nianzou was nowhere near where he should have been for both goals I do hope this rumour is true
“Milan, Inter and Juventus threaten the continuity of Tanguy Nianzou in Sevilla.
According to ‘CalcioMercato’, these teams are planning to present various offers to Sevilla next summer. The Andalusian team is only considering its sale from 25 million euros, in this way they would recover what was invested by the Frenchman a few months ago”
I switched the tv off as soon as the 2nd goal arrived and we went out for a few beers & tapas. It is the 1st time since we were 5-0 down at half time V R Madrid some years back that I haven’t seen a game through to the end.
What with Sevilla tonight & Sheff United doing their best to chuck away what was a 10 point gap that ensured promotion to the prem, it’s not been my best weekend.
This result actually really hurts me to see but I still have hope for next season although I’m not sure if Sampaoli should be the man to do it.
Also I haven’t been active in the server for over a year its great to see everyone here despite the poor season we are having
I hope so. I probably will finish in September/October. No way am I hiking in the summer heat.
Sounds like it was a good decision to get sleep. Second half sounds like a mess.
That is the situation more or less. Lope did not have this season easy with the injuries and a terrible Monchi job. But the writing was on the wall for Lope in the last 6 months of last season.
Sampaoli inherited all that mess plus a dispirited squad, out of form forwards and the injuries have hollowed out our defence to the maximum. With injuries and suspensions we haven’t been able to field a settled team. Yesterday, Atletico were scoring from 20-25 yards out and no defenders reducing the angle, that’s a duck shoot and Gudelj was just as guilty as Nianzou.
So happy to have missed the match. First one all year I think.
We have 6 week old foster puppies that took less shits than Sevilla did today.
I knew they were going to score or at least have a clear-cut chance the moment Depay started to make that run. It was so obvious it was painful to watch…
Not really, he was actually on a 3 game winless streak and lost at home to relegation favourites Bourenmouth, it’s just Tottenham are really jerkyll and hyde. As for the backing he got to throw 70m in the window while not signing a single one of his favourites from here aside from Sarabia. Still wondering when Isco will join him.
This I fully agree. Europa is a distraction, our contenders have a full week’s rest and Sevilla have to travel for Thursday night football when the team is not constructed for taking on two fronts.
Didn’t watch the game but was not suprised since the team did not have it’s best center-back (Bade) and midfield enforcer (Fernando) or any capable backups on the bench, getting Gueye sent off is further bad news but at least he cares. So it’s 1 game suspension for him and another 3 for Fernando? We need both back asap.
Nianzou either has a good game or a shit one, nothing inbetween. If we can move him then do it. Marcao doesn’t even see the training pitch anymore so I won’t count on him. The summer window is really on par with the Arias farce when Sevilla signed Muriel, Kjaer and Arana. The only difference is it took ages to shed those guys while Monchi is eager to ship out as many failures as possible. Really looking forward to the summer.
Not all is lost, given the disparity of the league this season, Sevilla are 17th on 25 points but only 2 points behind Espanyol who are 12th. Get our key players back with a crucial run and Bilbao who are 8th on 33 points are very much in sight. Time to get things under control, lose the Europa and hope Valencia continue self-destructing. Vamos!!
The only reason all the loudmouths calling for Sampaoli’s head are still being ignored (thank God) is because we still have Europa league. If not for that, we’d be coached right now by Pablo Machín or Pablo Alfaro, or hell, Pablo Sarabia.
Not going to suggest we play Navas for 90 minutes on Thursday or that we burn our ships, but to suggest that we give up on Europa or not play our starters is, well,
Or perhaps
If not, what the hell does NUNCA SE RINDE mean?
I’m with Ryan on this. Play to win. If we go down its because we deserve to go down. There are 14 games left.
If a bear is chasing you, you don’t need to be the fastest person trying to get away (or faster than the bear), you just can’t be last. Or whatever the hell the expression is. We’ll be fine. We’re actually playing better lately. Yes we’re “only” 3-3-1 in our last seven. But if we even sustain that, we’ll be fine. And this sample of seven games happened to include 2 of the league’s top 3 teams. They’re much better than us. Of course they were going to go poorly.
Let’s check back in when there are 6 left and I’ll update you on my state of panic.
Just gotta get healthy and stay healthy. Do that and we can make a run and finish mid to upper table. I haven’t lost hope.
