Given how the game went, be thankful it wasn’t a red lol.

Thank goodness for the point.

ref should be fired.

going into the game one point would’ve been unacceptable. coming out, you have to be happy.

2 very poor sides. A big point for us. The last 2 points we lucky to get any might keep us up. A big 2 home points against Girona and Alaves. We seem in shit though.

Good fight from 9 men to battle for the draw. The only good thing I can think of is that this gives the team something to galvanise around.

The game, and probably Almeydas gameplan, was ruined from the moment of the red card. We should be thankful for one point.

As mentioned by others, this ref just absolutely lost it. How on earth are the players going to get a feel of the game and intensity when a player gets sent off within 15 minutes and then all of a sudden those same sort of tackles go without a yellow later on.

Del Nido junior should urgently release a statement and back the Barca-one from earlier. And more importantly back his managers and players frustration. This was an abysmal performance by the referee.

I just hope there’s 3 worse. We are a poor side but I admire the fight from the team.

They don’t want to be relegated and they fighting for the badge.

Why does the refs hate Sevilla? I mean in all seriousness, whats their issue witt this club?

Never ever seen so many decisions go against a club that is obvious wrongs. Its sickening. We deserve much more than we get.

It actually doesn’t seem unlikely. Managers get sent of all the time, but rarely in this manner. He was furious.

4 things.

  1. The ref decided to be the main protagonist of the match from the beginning of it. He totally lost control of the match from the red card for Juanlu, which was a stupid second yellow from Juanlu by the way - knowing he almost got a red in the VAR revision.

Then the penalty case… then the non-existent fouls for Alaves etc. etc. This was some pure pathetic and amateurish refereeing on display.

  2. Is there a war against us from RFEF? I remember discussing this for the first time here with the late Tim Spence (RIP Tim, you are missed here) a few months ago. Now with the recent protests of the club in the press, there might be even more fuel in the already existing fire.

Not a fan of silly conspiracies, but there is a lot of proof for what we are all thinking about (at least most of us). Just like there was a ‘conspiracy’ before when RFEF didn’t want us to seriously compete with Barca and RM (football-wise because financially we never could anyway) - this time I think it is real and very, very obvious. RFEF wants Sevilla in Segunda, and there was never a better time to make it happen.

  3. Squad quality? Maupay is one of, if not the highest football-IQ player in the team, and he just joined, a Marseille reject. That speaks volumes for the level of the squad. Does that mean that we should be relegated based on that? Not at all. There are at least… at least 3 clubs worse than us on paper that should get relegated before us. But with the way we play and with all that’s going on, the odds are highly against us.

We have a LOT of extremely poor players that wouldn’t be able to get a lot of playing time even in Segunda teams mid-table and up. Nianzou is one of them. Sorry to burst your bubble Nianzou fanboys… if there are any… who knows?
A point tonight is perceived as golden, and it’s always better than getting nothing - but Alaves should be beaten any time, any day. Juanlu’s value might slowly tank and we won’t be able to even sell him to Napoli I’m afraid - he’s been abysmal lately.

  4. Lastly, but not the least important - the club management. We all know that the club has been severely mismanaged and it’s a miracle that the club has not dissolved yet. There are many reports that external audit is showing a total mess, a massacre of the club’s finances and I believe someone that had a say in this (we all know who) should even get jail time for this. Being sorry and leaving if the club is sold (a huge IF) is not enough. There should be consequences for this crime.
The biggest crime of them all? Making die-hard fans like me and many others lose passion and even trust in the club. Totally embarrassing us and making us question everything, when we should only be focused on the beautiful game.

Sevilla FC is on its knees… odds are high that it won’t survive (relegation or not, due to messy financials).

Great answer. Really appreciate the thoughts and insight.

I do Think what We Saw today was that the players care. They didnt give up and all the cards later in the game is a climax of frustration that has seen the players, fans and coaches get enough. When you constantly get everything against you, at some point its gonna boil over and we Saw that today.

What is more frustrating is that a win would have done wonders for us. Now we face two potential games with 0 points. I dont Think we get anything from :poop: and Getafe is always tricky. I cant see Where the wins are coming from.

Juanlu hopefully hasnt some anything to get sold, bcos we really need guys like him in the team. I dont Think its given he is sold in the summer and if he is, then we should sell 90% of the players. Too many mercernaries at the club tbh. Relying on guys like Salas, Oso, Carmona, Vlacho, Isaac etc is what this club should do. Many of the short term guys dont really bother as they are just here temporary.

About the clubs finances, what can happen to change things around? How do we get on the bright side of all this finance trouble?

What worries me most is that we’ve played five games in this second half of the season. Bilbao, Mallorca, Elche, Alaves, and Girona. All are bottom half teams and yet we got just five points from those games (we also lost four in a row prior… ugh). that means that of our remaining 14 games, only four more will be against bottom half teams.

The opposition will be a lot tougher down the stretch and not getting more in recent weeks has us in very serious danger even if we’re not currently bottom three.

It is grim reading for sure. However, as we’ve seen before there might just be hope in the fact that it could suit us better to play against teams we are not ‘required’ to pursue 3 points against. That it would actually be an achievement to gain a point and not a failure. I know, I am grasping for straws here…

Also it doesn’t change the fact that I think we have all realised that our hope of staying up is heavily linked with just being better than the worst three. And the worst three are definitely gonna drop a lot of points as well.

for sure Niller. there will be competition for those bottom three spots. and ultimately, if we just play decently given our talent level, we should be ok. but we’ve set ourselves up for a nervy ride to the finish, to say the least.

So according to the referee’s report (as per AS), Almeyda was sent off for acting “defiant and intimidating”.

I’ve rewatched the video of him on the touchline leading up to his sending off and I can’t understand how that impression was given. I can only assume it was from his confrontation with the ref after he was told to leave the bench (which may have been after he was given a red card).

It seems highly suspect when the head of the referees assigns a coach from Navarre to referee an Alaves match. You have to wonder if there is a deliberate attempt to make things difficult for Sevilla if not directly discriminate against them.

What is obvious though is that this ref did not handle the game at all well which led to huge frustrations on the pitch and into the stands. After the game its reported that there were further chants and possible threats against DN Jr outside the entrance to the directors box.

As much as I like Almeyda, he needs to learn to control himself as how he reacts on the sidelines will feed into the feelings of the fans & players. Coming out afterwards and apologising and saying that he’s got blood, not water in his veins reads a bit like the poor excuses of a man who can’t control his anger, which no matter how noble the cause, isn’t a good look for anyone, especially when they are a head coach.

I agree and these teams at bottom are better than previous teams that got relegated.

The 3 worse this season aren’t as bad as previous relegated teams though. Oviedo and levante maybe are but no one else. The rest are much better so we have to be better than last season in run in or we will go down.
