La Liga - Matchday 24 - Sevilla FC vs Alaves

The problem is we not very good and our defence is so bad. We not bad going forward but not the best.

Our squad is weak too and it doesn’t help with all toxicity at club with fans and in boardroom too.

I didn’t catch the game but looks like we did well to come away from it with a point.

At least we’ve avoided defeat against two relegation rivals in Alaves and Girona in the last two matches which could prove crucial at the end of the season. However, you could look at it like we’ve failed to beat teams we need to be winning against at home and it could cost us.

A lot of the remaining fixtures will be tougher also.

As much as i despise the refereeing standard in Spain, and their bias towards the Big 2, i don’t think there’s a conspiracy to have Sevilla get poor results / relegated. What motive would they have to be against us? I feel like every team & their fans think the refs are against them.

The refs just suck.

I think this is right Eddie… And yet, watching that game, I can’t fathom how a ref would give two marginal yellows to the same player within the opening 16 minutes unless they’re coming into the game pissed and out to prove a point… or take a bribe.

I’m probably less inclined to believe that the league itself is putting its finger on the scale and maybe more likely to wonder if, in this particular game, this ref was paid off. That said, doesn’t seem like he has a particularly controversial past so… maybe we’re just pissed cus it was us. But this particular game/officiating, in my experience watching this team/league was especially shocking.

Did the league offer any further explanation response? Or just on the confrontation with Almeyda?

This ref is new to la liga this season, he has been in charge for 3 of our games now including both games v Alaves & at home v Levante. In those 3 games he has given Sevilla 3 red & 13 yellow cards. He has been in charge of 14 la liga games so far and given out 68 yellows and 5 reds. Make of it what you will.

Sounds about right. But Juanlu should know not to be reckless if he was nearly sent off. It was dumb of him, but the ref was certainly itching to book him again.

But it’s La Liga, and refs look for reasons to justify their assumptions. This is a league that gives yellows if you don’t jump properly for a 50/50 header.

The scandalous refereeing robbery in Sevilla vs. Alavés. You won’t see this on TV.

There were some serious blatant misses from the ref. If you are going to call little things from the start, call them both ways. I get each ref has different triggers, but they should be applied evenly to both teams. I go back to La Liga needs to grade each ref following the game just like the MLB does. This would improve the consistency, quality and fairness across the board.

I’m not sure refs are any more bias towards us than other clubs aside from Barca and Real.

The standard of refereeing across all levels of football in all countries is poor. Period.

Clearly doesn’t help us but also doesn’t take away from the fact we’re a poor team and where we are because of that not the officials.
