I think we had a bit of luck with players like Navas, Puerta and Sergio Ramos appearing at the same time, and previously Reyes and Antoñito.
We never repeated that luck, that’s the thing about luck, if it were always the same in isn’t luck.
I remember what happened but can’t put the dates on everything it but I’ll try to get it in sequence. When Sergio Ramos left for Madrid there were some words said that reverberated through the dressing rooms of the cantera. Around the same time, Sevilla the club decided that the filial weren’t worth the investment and they were unlikely to recover any profits on them. So they would leave the filial to their own devices, sink or swim, but no investment.
As luck would have it, they got promoted to the second division which put the club in a dilema as they had written them off and now it was a new deal. They bought Perotti and Fazio for SAT to bring them gradually into the first team, I’m not sure it was before or after they got promoted. At the same time Diego Capel came through and a year later Lolo, Juan Carlos, Alberto Moreno and others were knocking on the door of the first team but there was some discontent about the pay and opportunities. So Juan Carlos, Luis Alberto and José Campana appeared destined for sale, the club became too ambitious for cantera.
Capel was indeed a marvel, he could turn any player and they could do nothing to stop him apart from the foul. I think the refs started to clip his wings, he was literally too good. Probably wise to change leagues.
Crespo fit perfectly at the highest levels, never looked out of place, even in Champions.
Diego Costa has asked for his contract with At Madrid to be rescinded due to injury. Rumored he has a clause which prevents him from signing with Barca and Real but that doesn’t mean Sevilla can’t try their luck.
He’s going to be 33 with a track record of injuries and his reputation of being a reliable striker is matched by him being a dick. Yet he can hold the ball up on his own and should thrive in the current system. Dare Monchi go for him?
He’s been shit since coming back into the league @keepingitrealistic. I don’t see why anyone in this league would want him. He isn’t good enough anymore.
I’ve said 10 points out of the 5 games at least, and it sounded crazy back then but not so much now. We can even do 15 out of 15 with a bit of luck, who knows
