Yep, the most convincing so far - even though France have deployed a different unusual strategy to them vs. Germany, they relied on counters mostly. France has the capacity and ability to successfully play with different strategies, depending on the opponent.

Imagining being a supporter of a team with Mbappe on it makes me salivate. Every time I watch him I’m just blown away by his talent level. That speed, his shot creation, even vision and passing. Germany ran a 3 at the back yesterday because they didn’t think they could contain him otherwise and they still couldn’t contain him. He’s can’t miss TV just like CR7 and Messi have been for the past 12 or so years.

I was worried about that Italian defense still running with Bonucci & Chiellini. But i guess it’s a blessing in disguise that Acerbi came in to replace the latter. I think he’s their best defender. Now that Immobile is scoring goals for them, they def looking good.

I agree. I thought that Italy is as solid as anyone minus their CB pairing (would have been amazing 5 years ago) Italy would have no chance stopping France or England with Chiellini and Bonucci starting. They’ll need to sacrifice experience and technique for speed in the knockout rounds.

Disappointed with the German team so far. They do not play their way that made them world champions. Mesut Özil could be the answer for what they need, he would fit right in…they seem to lack their usual creativity.

The stat speaks for itself. I would like your take on if you think Chiellini and Bonucci together can keep up with guys like Mbappe and Rashford? I’ve noticed Pirlo seemingly refused to play the 2 together in important games by the second half of the season.

So funny you mention him. I responded to a Reddit meme that said Germany needed a great German striker like Gerd Muller, Rumenigge or Klose and I responded that prime Mario Gomez would give this Germany team a great chance to win the Euro.

Aren’t they clearly Mancinis choice as starting CBs in a back 4 though? Do you think that maybe he was/is planning to adjust that going forward depending on the speed of his opponent?

Gomez at his peak with Germany from 2009-2012 averaged more than .5 goals per cap. Not world beating but definitely good enough for this Germany squad, imo.
If I were Spain I’d start Gerard Moreno at the 9. I feel Morata at his best is good enough but he’s too hot and cold. Moreno tallied 30 goals last season between La Liga and Europa. He’s on his game right now.
