Winter 2022 Sevilla Transfer Rumours

Why are we always linked with Samu? We have enough wingers that want to play on the right!

It will all depend on what happens with Idrissi, and maybe Oscar too, but it has to be a left-winger. Not sure what kind of value/quality we could find in January, but losing Lamela is a big blow, and he only got started. I think we’re fortunate that Ocampos was able to find form, cause who sees the same happening for Suso? Not many.

A 6-month loan for Gil would do some good for both parties honestly.

What’s the likelihood of that happening though? Would Gil even want to come back? I can’t imagine he has been too happy with the team over the last few years, and getting sold by his childhood team probably hurt.

Funny you say that… i said ā€œboth partiesā€ without even thinking about the player himself. :man_facepalming:

I could definitely understand if he feels like the club did him dirty. The fans like him, but the club kinda hung him out to dry. He didn’t have a chance to play with the team, and we shipped him off on multiple loans without giving him a shot to prove himself.

Rumor has it that the reinforcements strategy for the January window will be: 1 CB (to rest Kounde and DC) and a winger that can score (to replace Suso and Lamela as they’re injured and will be away for a while). So it seems that going for a striker is only ā€˜optional’ at this point and not an urgency. Meanwhile, you have an average striker in the team (Rafa Mir) and an above average striker who hasn’t played for a while now and will probably take a couple more months to get in the proper form - could be already too late to make the necessary impact. This tells a lot about the seriousness of this club.

Of course, if your only ambition is to reach top 4 and screw everything else then things do not seem that bad honestly. However, I don’t think that we should necessarily share the same sentiment as the club’s President or agree with it, because we’ve been in this state for as long as we remember Sevilla FC as fans (expect for those who were fans before 2004 or so).

Also we will be relying in Montiel and Ludwig until Navas and Acuna return - they both have complicated injuries and their full recovery could take longer than previously thought, also means it could linger and cause them issues throughout the season. Montiel has disappointed a lot unfortunately. He started well but then faded away and looks like an average RB, similar to many full backs of mid-table or below teams in La Liga. Same goes for Ludwig - we didn’t expect much from him anyway so I can’t call him a disappointment to be fair.

The whole January strategy could change if we sell Kounde, but even then, I’d not expect radical changes. It would just mean more money for the shareholders and recuperate some losses of the failed projections (CL missed money etc.) that came exclusively because of mismanagement.

In all honesty, I would only keep the following players at the end of the season: Bono, Navas (if Montiel doesn’t seriously step it up, then a very decent replacement for Navas), DC, Kounde (I know we won’t keep him, but just in case), Acuna, Delaney (I still believe in him), Papu (only as a second half sub), YEN, Lamela (hopefully he recovers well from the injury and gets back in form), Fernando (extend his contract for another year, or 1+1, but only as a sub as we’d need someone like Tchouameni to start, can’t fuck around with the midfield anymore in the 4-3-3, or get another coach and use another formation that suits the squad characteristics), Oliver Torres (I still believe in him), Oscar (a loan in January and if he does well at the club he’s loaned in, give him another chance), bring Bryan Gil back, and no one else. Revamp the whole squad, including the manager if needed!

Any positives at @ShendM? I think it is we look good for top 4 so far :grinning:

Yeah top 4 should be hard to screw up but you never know. We’re historically known for screwing things up when least expected.

True as a sevilla fan I’m always worried slightly until it’s mathematically secure. It’s always a rollercoaster with this club. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s the fun part of it. We’ve been experiencing that for a long time now, and it’s ok. For me it was since 2005, and I’ll be with Sevilla even if they relegate to Tercera. Some folks that I see after a long time ask me ā€˜You’re still rooting for Sevilla?’ and I say: Hell yeah!

There comes a time though that you get a bit fed up with the constant stagnation and the management’s lack of courage to step it up in order to become a serious and big club. I don’t expect us to be as big as Barca, RM or other top clubs from other leagues such as Juve, Bayern, Man City, Chelsea etc. - I only expect us to become a fearsome force in Europe and become a serious club like Atletico is. Atletico were once called ā€˜Patetico’ for the very same reasons and situations that we’re experiencing. Simeone changed that for them since the second part of 2011-12.

Then, once you get on Atletico’s level, it’s ok to screw it up at times. That happens to even bigger clubs and it’s normal, it’s what football is about. But first, reach Atletico’s level - and that can only be achieved by having a similar season to their 2013-14 season. Without at least winning La Liga (in the modern era), or reaching the CL final (or both?) we will never be the respected force that we aspire to be.

That“s exactly what I believe as well Shendm.

At this point, it is (was; last year) are and have been opportunities for the taking. To reach for something big, which has to be the ultimate goal in times when you can get it. Since those times won“t hold, and same opportunities may not arrise like this. Same how Barca fell down and Real was in problems. We got quite close but failed. I think that“s fine but going for it to take chances when you can get them is what I would want to see. How would you otherwise define ambition? Ambition should be the highest thing, and if not the highest thing within reach.

But to limit yourself by setting a low(er) goal to create stability doesn“t excite in short term. Which honestly is a lot of the joy of football. If they Castro and Co. believe and manage to in let“s say 6 years time aim to become that stable Atlético and after those years threaten the title in that time in the future 7-10 years, that“s their plan. Maybe that works maybe it won“t, many many factors can change and new chances need to arise. I don“t think this goal is necessarily bad, but you might have just gone for the chances when you had them.

If in the end, it collapses and we have to go back to ambitions like placing for EL and getting 5-7th in the League so be it and our ambitions will change back to that. All can happen. But now we are at it and need to try it. But in the end slow and steady wins the race. So if after 10 years we eventually became that High Level Threat that Shendm talked about, that would be the most positive outcome.

An attacker like this? But i’m not sure if we have the budget for him.

I wouldn’t sign him. He’s never lived up to the hype and not sure he’s the type of character you would want in the dressing room.

In other news YEN started training today.

I don’t want him either. They will make us pay over the odds for him and he not worth it in my opinion.

@SurreySevilla you took the words out my mouth. I’m not saying we’ve been playing the best lately but let’s not act like we’re in a relegation scrap.

Absolutely! We still have lots to be positive about. We are 2nd in la liga and only lost 2 games in the division. We through in the copa del Rey and are into Europa league.

If we can get our injured players back as soon as possible and we reinforce decent in January I’m still very optimistic for the season ahead.

The only thing I slightly concerned about is trying to take on 3 different competitions with the Thursday to Sunday schedule with quite a few injuries. That’s why I’m on the fence on the Europa league but I still like us to go for it if we feel we have the squad and tools to do so while still doing our best version in la liga and copa too.

I’m not that disappointed about the champions league exit. After the very first game I felt it was coming and we haven’t been good enough. I don’t think we would have got much further had we sneaked through anyway. It is a shame to miss out on extra money but we can respond well from this. We have always struggled in champions league whether we get out of group or not so we can just put it behind us and move on.

Still Jesus Corona will be the most likely candidate to join us in January.
Other thing that Palmeiras are aiming for Fernando to return to his home country, which if we don“t act upon renewing might actually convince him. Leaving us with another hole.
There“s rumours of Arthur who can“t find his groove in Juve.
I would still be in favour of getting Martial if we can get a good deal out of it.
Oscar definitely needs to get his playing time, at this point we are just keeping a young player on a leash. Eventho this is the time where he should be getting more chances. If even in these times we don“t play him, let him go. Especially if Lope doesn“t see it. Let him come back when Lope is gone (6 or 18 months later) and give him a fresh start with things he learned instead of building up resentment on the sideline. Since he had a 5 year contract.
Di Maria on a free transfer would be big, that could help us be serious contender in those 3 leagues but again not the play for the long term, a type of transfer we have been doing a lot (aged experienced winger). But his class is of an even higher level than any of what we got before and the necessity is there so i“m down.
I also expected less from Umar Sadiq to be honest, when we played vs Almeria in the Copa some time back, you could see his talent but also quite rough still. But how he keeps performing and keeps racking up those stats at Almeria (many assists too) impressed me more than I first thought. If we are talking about players to possibly build around and especially with the possibility of Youssef leaving to the PL eventually.

I can understand some of the critics towards Montiel, he had a bad game for sure last wednesday, with that crucial ball loss as well. And had another terrible one, where he came on one game and looked really out of it. But he still puts in a real good effort, creates that forward drive as much as he can, high availability on their side, generally good in possesion and delivered some key passes as well. I“m a huge fan of him, from what I“ve been seeing of him in general. He neutralizes the oposing winger well (more secure than current Navas), while still delivering a lot in our attacks. I have faith and would have him as a key piece in the future squad to build around.

What do you mean by that? Do we have an example of this? Cause we should know how British tabloids can go on about whatever…

Lol. I’m more of a Sevilla fan than you could ever be in a million lives. At least I don’t support 5 other clubs, especially not a club like Betass - that’s super weird and ludicrous to be even considered serious.

If anyone should be questioned if they’re a Sevilla fan it is you, honestly - and you’re clearly not, more like a troll.

I’m like that because I genuinely care for this team and invested tons of time and emotions in it for 15+ years so I simply can’t stay quite when things don’t go as they should at this point. I don’t support other clubs, other than my NT and it’s only Sevilla with all my heart from the moment that I decided to support a team, for real. You’re pathetically making it sound like we’re doing perfect and I’m trying too hard to find things to complain about, when in reality that’s absolutely not the case and there are a LOT of things to complain about at this point, from different perspectives. That’s what real fans do, they want their team to be at their best and react when things go wrong.

It’s easy for you not to give a crap because if things don’t go well with Sevilla, you still have Betpiss, Inter, Bayer Leverkusen etc. etc. to care about. Why don’t you add Newcastle to your support list? Suits your posting style and it should probably be a more ā€˜positive atmosphere’ over at their forums.
