Absolute frustration of a match, but we gave it a decent end. Can´t say Dortmund are better. We are just lacking too much to hurt them harder.
Referee was horrible tonight but we have no one to blame but ourselves. Silly mistakes over both legs and not putting away the chances we had.
Motherfucking son of a bitch Cakir - Sevilla 2:2. He tried a lot, but couldn’t beat us, the motherfucking bastard that should never ever officiate an UEFA match again.
We deserved at least the ET as things went, but not sure if we deserved to go through in overall considering the first match also. Dortmund didn’t necessarily play better than us, as we dominated them especially tonight in their turf, but they played clever, were patient, lucky and had the criminal Cakir with them.
As for our play, it was good but you can’t do much with this kind of ratio of creating danger vs. keeping the ball. We kept the ball a lot and circulated the ball, switched sides etc. but we’ve had only 1 decent cross during the whole 96 minutes and that was the cross from Rakitic who was sweetly converted by YEN. All of the other crosses were shit and here we have our full backs and wingers to blame. So we need to train crosses more as it seems.
Again, the 4-3-3 and these tactics do not work with the current set of players. We need at least, AT LEAST 2 high-class upgrades in order to achieve more than this next season.
Also if we don’t finish 4th, Lope doesn’t deserve another season imo. Let’s see how things go, but I hope that Monchi and co. are contemplating a top-club Sevilla and not staying in a status-quo with 4th place in La Liga as the highest goal.
We need to concentrate on 4th now. The Important thing is to make sure we get the opportunity to try compete again in the elite competition next season. We got a taste of champions league football again and we need more experience to try to keep growing as a club.
If we can get 4th and then sort out the squad well in summer we will be set well next season. If we have the fans back and we in top 4 with the right changes in summer then we can keep growing. It’s vital we finish the season in the best way we possibly can. As now 4th is in danger with Soceidad and Betis playing well at moment.
Yeah true haha. Now more than ever though every league game a cup final because I fear we could get caught if we not careful.
Surprisingly (and shockingly) though, Kounde has had a terrible match in overall. I don’t know what happened to the guy, he’s been doomed since that awesome performance vs. Barca in the first leg of CDR semi. He went down in a freefall like an airplane without wings from then on. I fear it could decrease his price as well and make it harder for us to negotiate on cashing hard on him.
Now let’s take all this anger and frustration, and direct it towards B*tis who think they can touch us.
We were just one goal from forcing extra … solo quiero decir que te quiero mi Sevilla.
Yeah I hope for a big performance on Sunday. Like a backlash where we make a statement. Betis and their fans though seem quite confident they will win. Hopefully we can show them we still the top dogs.
Sad feeling, but ourselves to blame indeed, RmanNerd fully agree.
In the end we came decently far in both cups, semi of the cup and last 16 CL. Not bad at all, there just was way more to get. And we can´t reward ourselves even though this years opportunity gave us more then we might get in many years to come. Could have been amazing, but after all we still didn´t do too shabby we must remember that.
Focus on la liga, rebuild as best we can, heads up and I´m pretty sure this club can grow to higher levels.
I knew we weren’t going through but I still feel really mad about this game. In the space of two weeks, our season as ended. I think we need a rebuild in this summer, not too big but we need to move on your Gudeljs and your Gomezes.
I agree on that. It’s like he’s had his head turned and his stopped playing with the same desire and intensity for us. He’s been the shadow of the player he was in that game and for most of the time before that.
He has been pretty terrible the whole Feb tbh, i couldn’t count his mistake even with both hands.
He probably can’t be sold for his release clause. Just stay here next season.
You right it was so close yet so far. I just hope this doesn’t cause the team to feel sorry for themselves though. As the season can be a success but from what could have been an epic Sevilla season could turn disastrous if we Chuck the top 4 away. It just shows you how it can all turn around.
However, tonight’s game shows we still have the quality and players to do great things. I just hope they bring it for remaining la liga games and lopetegui manages the squad well on the run in. We been non-stop playing since august and the players look knackered.
Yeah I’m thinking that - he might be convinced on staying for another season, especially if the fans come back in the stadium. I mean we can still just not sell him at all, but I never like players that are not 100% committed to the club for any reason. So Lope (or the new coach) should have a long talk (or several long talks) with him over the summer to see what is up and if he’s ready for 2021-22. If not, try to sell as high as possible and that’s it. Monchi is a good negotiatior, but the recent performances of Kounde won’t do Monchi any favor unfortunately.
What makes it worse was how close we were to being in better position in all the competitions. We could have been still in the title race, we were a minute from the cup final and not far away from forcing extra time and maybe reaching last 8 of CL. We just come up short in all the competitions when it’s really mattered. It’s just the small details that cost us.
Still I feel there is more positives than negatives. We have some very good players here and a lot to build. We just need to keep 4th and make the right changes in the summer so we can be even stronger next season. However, we lose 4th and things look a lot tougher for the rebuild in summer.
Well if Haaland will keep acting that way (pretty sure it isn’t a one-off as his character is like that) then probably a similar scenario will happen to him, and it would be just. Act like a prick, get kicked! That’s it in football. Since they don’t give out cards for acting like a silly kid and not showing respect, then someone has to take care of that. Yasser Larouci of Liverpool learned that lesson in a hard way
Also, maybe not to Roy Keane’s extent, but I miss players like Medel who in such situations would get a red just for the sake of it. The only bad thing about Medel is that he didn’t do all that by the end of the game when you don’t have any more chances, but he did that right at that boiling moment, and that’s fucked up. Dortmund were younger (on average) and yet more aggressive than us during both matches. We need to toughen up.
Fairplay indeed. no?
You can’t lose on Sunday bro! Will you be wearing both kits each half
