Just one question to Lopi.
Why can’t you get these players to play like that every game?
I think it’s a mentality problem at times. Especially facing the big teams. The other reason is his other line ups sometimes lack pace and energy to break teams down.
We need to try finish the season in best possible way. The summer transfer window is crucial to iron out our flaws and strengthen in the correct areas. I think it’s clear we need to see more of players like Oscar and Oliver. These guys are the future of the club not rakitic or even navas now. We need to sign more younger players in their prime in the summer.
Especially at centre forward, central midfield, need 2 new full backs and a centre back. We have some very good players but also some players who aren’t good enough for champions league level like de Jong, gudelji, vaclik and players past their best like rakitic, navas. Fernando is very good but even he’s getting older and will need replacing soon.
Well Brian, I think it is how he wants them to play and tonight is when they bend the rules and cut their leash! Hi mentality which rubs off on the team is to go out and not lose the game, and try yo grab something from the oppositions mistakes, carelessness or just their inexperience.
Only when we start to really attack with support for the attack do we look good, in the last 20 mins we had 3-4 players penetrating Dortmund penalty area, but we don’t normally do that and it creates a barrier for our attacking prowess.
Replacing Fernando will be found out to be a big problem pretty sure if he´s not there many new problems arrive.
Agreed. We need a ball-winning midfielder and it’s quite obvious Gudelj isn’t good enough to be starting for us next year. Apparently Inter are interested in him
Yikes. From what I heard, offensively we were fantastic, good to see a YEN brace. Haaland had the nerve to taunt Bono after he needed a VAR check to save him because Bono saved it but was one millimeter off the line? Oh well, I guess now we can focus on la liga
Yeah, we actually played rather well tonight it’s just that individual errors and inefficient finishing knocked us out.
Watching the replay of Haaland’s second penalty try (gifted undeservedly from Cakir), I loved the split-second reaction from Jordan and Acuna the moment he taunted Bono. They reacted at the same time, like it was coordinated and that shows passion for the club. Oscar also reacted a moment later and Fernando also followed the ‘chase’ but rather jogging slowly. Ocampos couldn’t be seen during the pk take but he was the one that pushed Haaland at the end. DC was very close there and didn’t react at all. Other players that were in the spot like Kounde, Navas and Suso also didn’t react as it seems - YEN neither. I mean probably there were more players that went to the sideline after the first ones gathered but the first-time reactions are the most genuine ones and priceless, it shows a lot for me.
Disappointing that we were unable to hurt both Barca and Dortmund, who are far from being great.
What’s concerning is we lost our spirit of not letting easy goals in. It has started to haunt us again.
I also got disappointed by how inaccurate our crossing is. Even Navas has lost his magic.
Speaking of Navas, he is nowhere near his last season performance. Lost his killer pace, and sucks at defending. We need a RB who is on par with Acuna next season.
However, we still have core players we can build around. Oliver and Oscar will grow into the team just like Jordan did.
And we need a DM, warrior type. One who can harass the opposing side, bringing some teeth to our game.
Forgot to post this last night.
Looks good!
