Salzburg won vs Lille. This group isn’t as ‘easy’ as we thought it would be.
Not a fan of Wolfsburg, but they play to their ability. Can’t judge them on that. Lackluster performance from our part.
Another game, where we got saved by the ref’s easy penalty. Just like vs Salzburg. Really unimpressive stuff from the team spending 200m on salaries.
An already horrible match made much worse by the ref. Still unable to make strides in a group that we should be winning.
Onto Granada.
I’ll take a draw. It’s a get out of jail free card. As we weren’t great but still we unbeaten and alive and kicking. It wasn’t a pen at all and I feel for wolfsburg because I hate seeing teams get cheated. We would have been incensed if it was us.
We got to improve in the champions league but we still have a chance to qualify. Go to up our level against Lille next and hopefully we have YEN back then.
It wasn’t great but could be worse guys, we could be Barca? Haha
I wouldn’t agree. 70% possession and most shots, most shots on target. And the goal of theirs wasn’t a ‘well played goal’, just sheer luck
Am I right in thinking Augustinsson’s yet to make an appearance this season?
2 draws in 2 games so far, hopefully a full RSP gives the team (& Lope) a bit of a kick up the a#se as they’re looking like they’re really going to have to fight to get out of the group before they can even consider progressing in the knock-out rounds
Never a pen. We’ve got away with it again and even nearly won it at the end hitting the woodwork. Disappointing result but relieved at the same time.
Both games against Lille are must win. Poor start to what was supposed to be an ‘easy’ group.
Hey, at least we’re still unbeaten, even if it comes in strange ways
Lope’s mindset: If you can’t win, don’t lose
Ofcourse you don’t, that’s the scoreboard.
This group seemed easy because we didn’t have any of the “super clubs”
In reality, this group is arguably the most competitive, with not much in between the clubs
We honestly should’ve lost this one. It was a pathetic overall display and Lope’s dream match where productivity and creativity is 0, the opponent is also conservative and we rely on luck.
Lucky to get that penalty, which was quite 50-50 but still not wrongfully called as it reminded me of the penalty we conceded against Man Utd in the mini EL tournament 2 seasons ago. So it was a matter of opinion mostly, some refs would’ve called it and some wouldn’t.
True that. We don’t differ much from Wolfsburg or Salzburg or even Lille - not on paper (we’re much better on paper), but rather because of the tactics and approach which makes us far less threatening and on the same level as these teams. Top clubs would swipe the floor with us, so thankfully we didn’t get them and hopefully we’ll manage to finish in the top 2… somehow!
If you can’t see that the ref bailed us out again, there is something wrong. We didn’t deserve the penalty, again. Nothing to do with playing for a draw or not lose. Just saved.
Taking the positives, I’d rather be in our shoes than Real and Barca who got swept aside by Benfica tonight.
A horrible match notable for the referee who everyone saw was late for any decision in favour of Sevilla. But not a good advert for Lopetegui by any means, because the football was not attractive,
We also noticed a linesman late in decisions, I believe the game was infected but surely part of the manager’s job is to be sufficiently superior to overcome those hurdles, they are part and parcel of uefa and we always seemed to overcome them in that competition.
In short, that was a shit show.
Lopetegui and sevilla squad and used all the luck potions in this champions league. We could easily have 0 points instead of 2. We give 3 pens away game in Salzburg game and get an unjust penalty tonight.
Hopefully we improve from this because I agree with the guys that luck won’t always save us. We improved in la liga but our champions league performances have been poor to average at best so far.
At least it’s a point and keeps us tied in 2nd place and unbeaten.
On to granada away but we have to be better to win that. We need better intensity in away matches. At home we look better but need to bring it more away.
It’s also about time lope drops Suso and starts Lamela from the start. We also need more pace in midfield and I’d be tempted to give Oscar or Oliver a go in there too.
Overall though we still unbeaten in all competitions which is good but we can’t rely on being lucky like tonight going forward
He was equalizing his bad decisions, it happens.
Yep I’d rather be us than Barca. I feel Barca might be out now. At least we still in contention and can rectify the situation still.
Even though there was a tiny glimpse of hope after the match vs. Valencia, it seems that after all Lope is definitely not learning from his mistakes and will never really change the approach.
I don’t think it’s even good for our mental health to pour out negativity over and over, I really hate to repeat myself again and again. It’s pure and simple crap football with boring tactics and relying on luck, with a squad that another coach would’ve done much better - nothing much else to say here.
Those that are happy with Lope and want to keep watching this same football then good for them, it’s a matter of perspective. Some are happy that we are still unbeaten, a streak that in reality should’ve ended as early as vs. Salzburg in CL.
Anyway, let’s take things as they are and hope for the best. Things are not changing and we will only be hard on ourselves to think otherwise or to expect a coach like Lope to change for the better… he won’t.
So for the last time this season, I’m calling #LopeOUT and leave it at that. Whatever happens next I’ll take it normally and won’t expect much. Already looking forward to the next season with a new coach at helm as things stand.
