Summer 2023 - Sevilla FC Transfer Rumors

Uğurcan Çakır

I’ve got a lot of Turkish friends: That “C” is pronounced “Tsh” and the “i” without dot is pronounced “Uh”. So I am pretty sure his surname is pronounce ‘‘Tshah-kur’’.

Thank you for everything, Bono.

One of the legends for me!

It will be hard to 100% replace Acuna as he was one of our best players, but Borna Sosa should be a decent replacement for the starter LB position and Pedrosa covering there.

I’m worried about creativity in this team. Pedrosa has something going there but can’t compare with Acuña. Ocampos and Lamela on their good days are special. Papu can create but less and less as time goes by. Tecatito is just messed around by the club following his injury. Oliver doesn’t qualify. Suso neither, just a decent backend to last season is not enough for his 3 years at the club. At least we bought Sow who could easily become our best and most creative player but we don’t seem in any hurry to use him.

Foul words from the club of how Monchi gets personal agreements with the player and then offers misery as a bid. Happens everywhere all the time but those bids are disrespectful I agree. First 5m now 7+3m. Acuña is one of the best in his position really he has his bad moments but also it’s sometimes just what a team needs.

Everything slowly coming into motion now. I’m down for Sosa as a replacement, to continue the Croatian trend and maybe we can double that with Livakovic.

Livakovic, Sosa, Trésor and a versatile striker

Losing Acuña will suck, but not nearly as much as losing Carlos and Kounde last summer. I like the guy, but he won’t be impossible to replace. The core of our defensive 4 are still in tact.

Bono sucks more. He’s one of the greatest goalkeepers in the league, and we’re letting him walk, but I don’t blame him at all. I’m happy for his success. Let’s be honest though, Mendilibar has shown that Marko is his preferred #1. Selling Bono and using that money elsewhere makes sense in that light.

All of that being said, I’m numb. I’m ready for Monday. There’s nothing better to take my mind off of transfer rumors than a game to watch.

Bono leaving is a big loss, he’s arguably been the best signing at the club for a while. In terms of the number of game saving blocks (and that goal), he’s the best goalkeeper I’ve seen at the club (can’t really remember Palop during his playing days).

Acuña going will also be a big loss, his attacking play often gets highlighted, but his defensive work is also really important, which is something that Pedrosa & Sosa don’t do as well. Saying that if Acuña really does want to leave, then fair play to him if we can get a decent sale.

Rafa can go to Valencia, I don’t think he’s ever won the favour of any manager at the club.

My concern is that yet again, we’re left having to make moves late in the window and players will take time to acclimatise, especially in the late summer heat. 3 shirts need to be filled as well as any other bodies needed for extra cover/fresh legs. There’s a lot of work to be done!

I’m not all that concerned about the timing of these transfers. It sucks that they are happening after the season starts, but we still have two weeks (almost a quarter of the entire window) to find their replacements.

Except for Lopetegui, who practically ruined YEN by continually starting dumb-as-rocks over YEN in critical moments of the season. Was always my biggest complaint of Lope, breaking YEN’s confidence.

Still quite a few operations need to take place in the next two weeks:
-Discards need to find a home (Delaney, Januzaj, Oscar, and Idrissi)
-Players that may leave with improved offers from other clubs (Acuna, Montiel, Tecatito, Mir)
-Necessary Reinforcements: GK (to replace Bono), midfielder, left handed winger to Mendi’s liking
-Potential reinforcements if more leave: LB (to replace Acuna) and striker (to replace Rafa)

Not a ton of time left in the window but interested to see Orta work and how this will play out.

I’m seeing all kinds of names linked to be the Bono replacement, but it’s looking like we’re backing Dmitrović to be the #1. And i kinda like it. I think Marko just needs time and a trustworthy backline. Remember Yassine came in as Vaclík’s backup.

Spend the money elsewhere, cause Lord knows other areas need it.

True that as long as it is invested wisely. Also probably why the Pacheco rumours started who should be relatively cheap. Praying things get interesting this week.

Nyland, on a free, after finishing Leipzig contract rumored at GK. 33 y.o. Another rumor which seems to confirm that they’re mostly looking for a cheaper, but reliable backup, rather than a starting GK replacement for Bono, so to speak.

Nyland it is. Well experienced and free is something positive, those blunders are horrendous. But all keepers will have some so I guess we will see how he does. He gives me Vaclik vibes but will have to do.

I really like as Edi mentioned earlier that we accept the loss of Bono, and prepare for a lower level run of the mill goalkeeper. To hopefully strengthen other areas of the field, to not depend on your keeper to win you the game. This comes just with a change of expectations which I am alright with. Since I would never want to expect miracles from a goalie to win games in the first place it’s a bad premise to begin with. Just accept we won’t get bailed out and we need to improve our football and scoring abilities.

I would be sad to see Montiel leave as well, his mentality similar to Acuña will be a miss and I think his attacking contribution in my opinions have been undervalued.

Fulham closing in on a deal with him, so Jesus and Juanlu or more work for Orta piling up on the already to do tasks…
