I don’t see many teams spending 50m on him. He’s world class but like you said most of the teams that could afford to spend that much already have a good goalkeeper.
Also remember, he’s 31, while not old for a goalkeeper, it’s not particularly young either.
If he was 23 and performing like this, then maybe but goalkeeper is not a position that many teams would splash 50m on
Latest rumor as per Fabrizio, Edoard Michut. 19 year old midfielder for PSG who wants out. Apparently a bright talent but wants to leave to get more playing time and advance his career.
It’s great being linked to young players but I don’t see Lopetegui giving a youngster that many chances, but who knows
Not sure where to put this, but I was just thinking about how Villareal seems to escape trouble in the midfield so easily. Samuel Chukwueze as up and down as he is, leads La Liga in successful dribbles per 90 minutes. Anyway it got me thinking about our team’s dribblers…well here it is if you want to waste less time than i put in to compile it:
Campaña is not a player that will elevate a club like ours to another level, but for that price an amazing addition any club would love to get. Probably the transfer with the lowest risk to cost ratio in a long time.
If Koundé leaves for Barca, I hope we can get Lenglet plus a huge bag of money. They want to get rid of Lenglet anyway. I loved Lenglet when he played for us, so despite many people saying he’s terrible now, him coming back would bring me much joy.
Interesting that you loved Lenglet… I didn’t really care when he left. Could be because he was part of the team when we were conceding 4-5 goals for fun… I only rated him in that first half of the season in 2017 when he joined us honestly. Now he’s even worse imo.
When Lenglet was at Sevilla he somewhat was the embodiment of my ideal central defender: Solid, Calm, Smart and risk-averse. This also shows why I still am not fond of Kounde, in my eyes he’s risky, agressive and this causes him to walk in positions I do not want to see my central defenders. Luckily for him - and us - he has the physical tools to often compensate the mistakes he makes and still come out on top.
You also can’t really blame all the conceded goals onto Lenglet in a season we had three different managers, we obviously had problems beyond that. Three managers, three different playstyles and only days to adapt and perform. Now we have a system build over three years that is almost specifically designed to play 0-0 every game.
If I had to choose between Sevilla Lenglet and Sevilla Kounde, I would choose Lenglet in a heartbeat. But that’s according to my ideals and perspective, and that is what makes this community fun; we all look at the players and games with our own eyes, own ideals, own expectations and share our own thoughts.
There were reports that we already agreed to contract terms with him. Then, a month or so later, it came out that he was moving forward with Who knows what to think about any of this.
Javi Galan is reportedly our priority for the LB position. Barca are going after him too, but they have a couple of other options which they might deem as better.
