Jup… I really feared this would happen, now we are making the competition stronger, because they can work outside of the rules. It’s really sad. Not official yet, but after Chelsea and Bayern have their cb’s sorted, it will likely go this way.
I’ve been saying for a month or more (to the mrs) that Koundé is going to Barca, I’ve no idea really just gut feeling but it’s amazing how the press just invent stuff about Chelsea and run with it. Chelsea must surely have earned that disrespect.
Another journal reckons PSG got interested and it prodded Barcelona into action.
It could all be nonsense too.
Reports out there saying Barca is still pushing for a player to be included (Depay or Dest) to significantly reduce the fee. Hope we don’t succumb to this pressure.
Also, is anyone else very underwhelmed by Isco joining?
Exactly let´s not accept the garbage they are looking to get rid of for our star. Please no, that would helping them out times two. They just put 72m on the counter man. They will just sell tv rights for the year 2045 and find another 100m appear.
Barca are paying for Raphinha in 3 staged payments, haven’t got the readies.
I will be very underwhelmed if that happens.
Here we go again.
As much as i would like Depay, i don’t like the numbers that are out there. €30M-40M + Memphis?? Nah, pay the clause please.
Personal terms doesn’t equate to him going. Barcelona can’t even register their FA signings, let alone the transfers.
He reached personal terms with Chelsea last season too and it went no where.
What makes all these clubs thing they can snatch our best players and half their fee by throwing in one of their bench fillers that makes too much wages?
“We are in financial distress”
2 days later splash nearly €60m on a random player like Raphina. Heck, I needed to Google this guy because I thought they just payed that boatload to get Rafinha (Rafael Alcantara) back.
It’s a total disrespect indeed. The management should not allow this, then pathetic clubs like Barca will maybe know better.
Most of the time those dollars plus player is made up by the media. They very very rarely happen. The Gil, Lamela deal is the only one I can really remember being pulled off by Monchi.
I dunno, I get the worry to buy up players who haven’t worked out for the Galácticos, but in reality I actually think it’s the Barca fans that should be pissed about the fact that they are routinely paying huge sums for players that they then have to shuffle out the door.
Of course it’s a matter of dollars and cents (euros and centimos?) but if for example Depay has a market value of 20m and Barca gets a 15m discount off the value of Koundé for him, Sevilla wins, assuming it’s a player we actually need and will use (rarely do our post-Barca players warm the bench at the Ramón Sanchez Pizjuán, with the exception of Munir, who has been riding the bench far too much).
Anyhow, all that to say…that I’m more than happy to be Barca’s pawn shop, which is basically what Sevilla has been in Europe in the days since the cantera has ceased to be our big source of big $$$ sales. We get 'em cheap from clubs with crappy financial positions and then resell at a markup.
I’d call it a house of cards more than a farce. They’ve got a long leash, but eventually that leash becomes a noose. Look a Valencia. On top of the world a few years back … The Galácticos just have a longer leash
We are reportedly close to signing Isco as he’s heavily linked with us once again.
Can Barca legally do this, sure…should they, fuck no. There are no amounts of Champions league money that will cover the cost of what they are selling. It’s dumb.
Also is dumb that Man U offered 85 million euros for Frankie. So dumb.
Pay off debts - no way!
Splash millions on average players - absolutely!
Question - is Kounde going to show up to training camp? I haven’t seen any photos yet.
He hasn’t pitched up in Korea. I think he has extended vacations following his ‘inguinal’ injury at the end of last season.
Transfer or no transfer he’ll rejoin the squad soon and see it thru like a professional, he’s really up for the world cup and he’ll want to participate to the max regardless of what his future holds.
