Idrissi has impressed early this season. It’s a good chance for him to shine this campaign. Like we have idrissi, Lamela, ocampos, suso on the wings. Then we have YEN, Rafa Mir, de jong and munir as forwards. Munir plays on wing too.
We have 2 left backs and 2 right backs of good quality. We have 2 top goalkeepers. In defence we have 2 quality centre backs and one decent one. Then about 6-7 options in central midfield as well
We have quality all over the field and the only critique is lack of a another centre back. We still have time and maybe a last minute surprise we will see. If we get that it’s been pretty much a perfect window for us. Hanging on to all our key players and adding quality in all positions of the pitch.
I still think there’s enough in this squad to challenge for la liga or at least run the big 3 close. The other 3 are still good but nothing special like previous years.
Totally forgot about Munir - yeah he’s still with us it seems.
Idrissi is very average, often below for La Liga top club ambition like ours.
Rekik is far from decent, he’s average at best but even that I doubt. If we don’t sign another CB it’s obviously the management thought that one of Fernando, Delaney, Montiel could cover there. Not sure how that’ll work but let’s see.
As for a winger, we are overcrowded but still lack proper quality. The only winger in form so far is Lamela - Ocampos is still not fully recovered and who knows how he’ll perform, anything like last season and it’s crap.
We seriously lack pace, something that penalized us last season and will do so this season too. With someone like Tecacito we could’ve had some more pace, especially in the attack.
With this squad, now that we’ve kept Kounde but not reinforced the CB department, also without having addressed the pace issue - we’ll probably pass the group stage of CL and struggle to finish fourth but that’s it. Anything else and it’s a miracle, but miracles don’t happen without careful and ambitious planning. Dortmund knocked us out solely on pace last season and they could do so again this time around, for the same reason - even similar teams to them.
Man y’all are a tough group. We finished with our highest point total last year with 77 points and we didn’t lose a single starter.
We added quality depth at positions that hurt us last year (Acuna injury, Escudero injury = Rekik at LB). Possibly striker if Mir works out.
Adding Lamela looks like a huge boost. Papu for a full season (if he can be utilized properly). Better cover for RAkitic/Jordan with Delaney.
As for Rekik, lets be honest. We have seen him play at his natural position for what 3 games? He will be decent. Monchi signing.
Idrissi, has looked hungry this year. That could lead into becoming the player that caught Monchi’s eye.
I know the end of the window wasn’t the splash we thought was going to happen, but I am happy it ended that way. Kounde staying like someone said before, is our best “signing” of the offseason.
With that said, I hope his headspace is where it needs to be. I saw with a DC United player, Luciano Acosta, how a failed transfer just killed his confidence and he couldn’t be the player that he was before his move to PSG failed. PSG really pulled the kids strings and screwed up the negotiations terribly. I hope Sevilla fans and the team will support Kounde.
Really hope that the EPL financially doped clubs like Chelski fail to get players like Kounde and Saul Niguez from La Liga. They think they can underoffer by some £20m because they believe La Liga clubs like Sevilla are desperate for more cash.
Cudos to Monchi and Sevilla board for staying strong (so far;).
Transfer market still simmering away but could boil in the next 2 hours. Real Madrid have bought Camavinga for 30. That might put Mbappe to bed.
Barcelona offered 80 for Olmo but were turned down.
There are also sometimes delayed moves. When the offer has been made before midnight but everything is fixed a bit later and you will find out the next morning.
Still think it’s possible that real go all out in the latest hours for kounde. We’ll see
