Summer 2021 Sevilla Transfer Rumours etc

Will Monchi re-visit Davinson Sanchez from Tottenham if Kounde is sold?

There is a pecking order in world football with 12 big clubs (although Arsenal is sinking) and a few teams looking to expand that group (the Milans, Dortmund, etc.) It is wise for a club like Sevilla to get players from that first tier that aren’t quite making it, like Lamela and then Davinson.

Sevilla is also trying to lock down Champions League football on a regular basis and only the 4th spot is available for now (although the Big Three have huge debts and could come back to the pack.) The big money from European football year-after-year creates large imbalances in domestic leagues that are very difficult to make up. Sevilla wants to be on the right side of that imbalance and things were looking better until Villareal went from the Conference League to the Champions League by defeating Manchester United in the Europa League Final.

There is competition for that 4th spot and Davinson is more experienced, speaks the language, Sevilla’s cost of living is appreciably better than London’s and like Diego Carlos he might be content on settling down in a good situation so that you don’t worry about the CB position for the next 5-6 years.

Welcome to the forum!

We haven’t heard Sanchez’s name for some time. I guess it is possible, but I think Monchi has moved on.

Thanks, good football conversation on this board, I’m glad I found it.

The deal was done with Tottenham but it was Kounde who didn’t want to go, hence my thinking that there is still interest, but it would now be a straight cash deal.

I always look at these kind of teams making that push, like Leicester & Atalanta. I think Sevilla are headed in the right direction. I’m no longer worried about securing top 4 due to the gap from last season.

Now to enter the mix in the Champions League, you need to have players that can slot into these other big teams. I always look at starting XIs, and which of our players could enter a RM, Barca or ATM team. For now, i only see the departing Kounde, and perhaps a Navas or Papu Gomez. But with the squad we have right now, it has a depth i don’t think we’ve ever seen at Sevilla.

Welcome aboard amigo! T.O. represent! :call_me_hand:

I really hope Kounde can stay, but if not, I do hope we can get one or two replacements. I’d also take Boateng for his experience and then Botman, who hopefully will be another gem. I’d be happy with Sanchez and weren’t we linked with Kabak from Schalke at one point?

Centre back is the only area I feel we need to strengthen in. Everywhere else looks really strong and plenty of reinforcements have come in already to add strength and depth.

For me, it’s the best squad we’ve had in years and excites me in the way the Alves/Kanoute/Fabiano etc team did. Even without Kounde I think we can be serious challengers for the title and the gap has never been closer between the ‘big 3’ and us!

I love your optimism pal. I agree we have great squad depth and I feel we can have a special season too.

I always try and be optimistic mate. I genuinely would be disappointed with another 4th place finish. For me, this is our best chance in years and I hope we can take it!

I just hope we can keep the momentum up against elche. Then we get 2 weeks to prepare, rest and get the new players settled before Barca. Although a lot will be called on international which I hope doesn’t cause a problem for us.

Seems like Spanish teams are doing that too - better for us given the current circumstances.

DISAPPOINTED !!!

Yeah at least one of the two, but it’s crazy to miss out on Corona for 10 million. Even if we keep Kounde, we’ve technically only spent around 5-6 million euros if we take the sales into consideration. So we don’t have the money to spend 10-20 million more? Come on!

im pretty sure we want to, but neither Gnagnon nor Amadou will get a contract as good as they have now. So the problem is them having to agree. Either that or we have to pay them out possibly, which I think is still worth to create space in the squad.

Your predictions are awesome, but I highly doubt that we would sign another CB if we keep Kounde. We should, but Monchi will most likely say we’re all set as they don’t want to spend 10+ million more than they sell, which is crazy anyway. Kounde, DC and Rekik will still not be enough for the long demanding season - we will need at least 1 more CB to cover up.

Unless we can get someone like Boateng who’s out of contract.

That’s the way to go… all eyes on Monchi.

According to reports we have informed Chelsea that they have until Saturday night to complete the transfer for around 70-75 million euros, otherwise after that it will be 90 million euros (the clause) or the negotiations will collapse. Fair enough…

That’s great news. This way there’s a high chance we may hang on to him but if not we getting close to the full amount for him. I’m glad we trying to hold out for 70-75 million euros instead of being bought off at just 50 million euro.

Yeah that’s the mindset I agree with. We can give them some room, but not rock bottom.

Yeah I agree with that. A loan or getting someone out of contract is the way to go now if we want 1 or 2 more players. It appears it’s only the centre back position and either sarabia/corona position we still looking at now.

We still need to shift a few deadwood too. Hopefully we get at least 4 more out.
