I understand and I agree to an extent but it isn’t always the way that the cheaper player doesn’t work out and that’s what clubs who have to build squads to compete across the board rely on.
Also, wages are usually a big sticking point, especially when one of the richer clubs is involved.
Yeah that’s true, also remaining contract length has nothing to do with quality, but with price it does. But generally you are fishing in a different type of pond.
So the activation is if Sevilla qualify for Europe? Smart of Milan to stick that clause along, not much the club can do now then.
I had no idea the club paid that much for Luuk, I went on Transfermarkt and it showed 11.25m pounds or around 12.5m Euros, aptly priced for a player of his quality in today’s market so price-wise you cannot complain.
The only thing that irks me is there were other bargains out there, Sociedad managed to nab Alexander Isak from Dortmund for just 5.85m. He may be rough around the edges but at 1.9m tall and just 20 has a heck of a ceiling, with him spearheading the frontline I’d say the club would have a more dependable frontman, but one can only imagine now.
I guess its up to 15 m, 12.5 fixed and the rest are variables and bonusses that´s what i´ve been reading everywhere, but considering our performances this year imagine there is a bonus to be send to PSV. Maybe Luuks personal numbers save us some money tho.
Good to see you back @BrettR! And yes, can’t wait to see what signing Monchi is cooking up. Last summer didn’t seem like did anything that great — with even some Valencia & :poop: fans were talking smack — but now in hindsight it’s bargains galore!
Hope you weren’t on one of those cruise ships? Glad to hear you’ve returned safely. Was it fun at least?
Unfortunately I was on one of the famous cruise ships you all heard about. No port would take us in. Every time it looked like we were free to get off. Someone would fail a test and then the 14 day cycle started again. Once the passengers were off. The staff were still left on as we couldn’t get flights home as we obviously didn’t have previous bookings. I was only meant to be onboard for a few weeks to cover someone on maternity. Ended up whatever 4 months. Our mobiles didn’t get signal or get WiFi due to the countries around us not liking the UK/USA
Welcome back to the land of the living @BrettR, can’t imagine being upon a cruise ship for 4 months.
Nice seem to be serious about their interest in Lopes, with a permanent deal mooted. Can’t believe we can get rid of deadwood for 2 consecutive seasons.
By the way, I Saw this Goalgetter in Italy, with an average of 60 minutes a goal, scoring 21 in total this Year might be the effective Striker that we have been looking for, his name Luis Muriel thoughts?
All over the french papers right now. And i’m seeing numbers ranging from €20-25M. It’s likely to be a loan with purchase option. There’s also been the idea that we can do a swap deal for one of their CMs, Wylan Cyprien (8G/5A). He’s a deep-lying midfielder who mainly plays as a #8, but can also slot in the DM role. The reports make it seem like a deal can be done soon, but the French transfer window just closed temporarily on July 7th, to re-open sometime in August. This may take time.
I love that Atalanta team, but i hate seeing Muriel score! He’s doing it all from the bench and he’s scoring bangers! He found his place in Italy, and he’s with a competent coach. Could say the same with Correa at Lazio. Now i’m just waiting for Mudo to realize the trend…
Yeah he had a Head injury after an incident at the pool and from the article I came to see his stats, couldn’t help but being impressed. For real some players just fit in certain leagues, take them out and they are just shades… Serie A I have never really been able to watch it for enjoyment. The way they defend the sluggish movement over de midfield and gaping holes left and right I think mostly because they are more into zonal defense but I guess it depends per team. I can’t put it into good words For me I looks like they are half assing until a player does something special and there is more space for break away players like Muriel because I think their defense retreat slower. I should watch some more to see better, Anybody watches it?
That sounded scary when i saw it, but he says he’s good now. He won’t play in their game today, but will resume training tomorrow.
Tbh, I’ve been watching more Serie A than La Liga this season. Atalanta for one, is the most entertaining side playing in Europe. Amazing project going on with that club. It depends on the teams ofc, cause all these coaches have different styles.
Inter have been a great team under Conte, and they’ve mostly played some nice football all season. Perhaps it’s the hype that made ppl think they’d win the title, but it’s only their 1st season with Conte, so it’ll take time. They got a nice throwback striking partnership up top w/ Lukaku & Lautaro.
Lazio have gone backwards post-lockdown, and it’s a real shame. They were relentless and Immobile was on course to score 35-40 goals this season. They outlasted Inter and made it a serious title race between them & Juve, but they fell off hard in the last couple weeks.
Perhaps Serie A’s still an acquired taste, cause Juve have won 8 times in a row. So wouldn’t the Bundesliga be just as good? (Cause i don’t watch German football, so i can’t say.) But there’s so much depth to the league. In terms of players crossing over, i feel it’s easier for La Liga players going there, rather than vice-versa. Mainly because I think the coaches in Italy are better and more versatile.
Thanks for the summary, from Atalanta I get that but they are like an exception great stuff from the team and management, two years in a row CL, with their Budget very respectable and playing fearless in CL as well. I love Iličić, such a gem. And you are right about Juve, I dislike them and always have so that doesn’t help. Same case in Germany for me. I have too much aversion against Bayern that the whole league loses its excitement. The style in Germany I’m not a fan either. They have high work rates, lots of pace and running, so much even that the players just can’t keep up and it becomes a ping pong game of forced errors rebounds and long distance shots. I am fan of technical football, quick combinations and good control and smart thinking. I feel Bundesliga is more a power liga.
Not a bad call, we seem to be in the Market for him too! I think Cazorla style he can be great for 2 years or so even in a guiding role for youngsters like Bryan. but a player his skill in the squad is what I want to see so bad.
Dani Parejo could be an excellent like for like with Banega.
As for Correa, we missed out there but Muriel is a headcase so it won’t last so I’m not bothered about seeing him banging them in off the bench. Maybe he found his place, hope for his sake he did but I’m of the mind that give him time and he will find a way to ruin it.
Parejo for me. Dare i say it, he might be better than ______?
Don’t know how true the rumours were, but there was that one turbulent Valencia summer (one of many) where Dani threatened to leave and we were “close” to signing him. Not sure he would come to a direct rival now.
David Silva would also upgrade our midfield. But the Valencia ties would prolly make that difficult.
