Replaced Rakitic with Banega for €2.5m, and now Banega with Rakitic for €1.5m. Blessed.

Elsewhere, Marcos Acuña seems to be the first choice for LB. Sporting want €15m, but deal might get done with a €10m+5m offer. [A Bola]

And those Diego Carlos to Man City rumours have returned… :eyes:

Awful rumor. We’re going for Gabriel Paulista if Diego Carlos leaves. Unbelievable that a liability like him is even thought to wear the Sevilla shirt.

The Rakitic signature is inspirational. A true Sevillista returning, already a club legend. He understands the club and fans and loves the City. A truly great player that can come in for Banega. Technically much improved and a leader, for me this is a huge statement.

No question about it Monchi is assembling a very formidable squad and a deep talent pool of players. Very reminiscent of the 2006 / 7 season that oh so very nearly won la liga…Could be a very interesting year at the RSP.

Rakitic …
€1.5m plus €9m in possible variables, those variables comprising of a long list of trivial clauses and a couple of larger ones if Sevilla win la Liga or Champions.

So a very, very good deal, all considered.

Let’s hope we end up paying the full €10.5m

He’s always committed to the cause but is rash and can give up silly fouls and pick up cards. His attitude was welcome at Arsenal but always seemed a level below what was required.

Things get more interesting, Florenzi is being linked as the solution to right back, he’s been progressively moved from the midfield to right back and future Roma captain to someone they list for loan, not someone I’d want.

Are we a bit light up front? Another option? De Jong has proved he’s a big match player, but week in week out scoring scrappy goals and tap ins that are so vital. Is Nesri the real deal this year?

Yeah we need to sign another striker! Someone who can get us 20 goals.

I’m happy with this. We set our price and 67 million is a lot of money. If it’s met think of the top players we can get with that money. If they don’t meet it then we keep him. It sounds fair.

Carlos is not worth that much. If someone comes up with the money then Monchi will sell. Considering we got him for 13.5 million it’s good business. We can get a replacement in, get another striker and sort the full back position with that money and the money we earned from top 4 and Europa league win.

Unless you put that €67m in Monchi’s hands…

It seems that we’re not upgrading the attacking front… not a good sign from Monchi. This is not how a club steps it up for the next season.

De Jong and YEN are not enough to challenge for La Liga and/or CL.

Similar to Lenglet’s case, even though he was a decent defender, he was very shaky at times, that’s why I wouldn’t mind Diego Carlos departing. I would fear Kounde’s departure more in this case.

However, the way I see it is that the Diego Carlos money will only be used for wages, a LB and/or an average midfielder like Kahveci, but not for a striker - the rest of course will be pocketed.

I doubt we’ll keep him, but Monchi said that he is an option for the attack too. If he stays, then it’s ok - otherwise, not.

Maybe the thinking is that Oscar Rodriguez will be a provider and scorer that we lacked from the attacking midfield last season?

I promised Jeremie Boga, and since we won Europa League, Monchi is on the case. A bit more patience, but he’s gonna be the bomb. We sell Diego, get two cheap centre backs in return. And buy our complete striker Belotti!
