Lame duck.
Nice to see a son taking his father out of the care home for a day
@ChrisLail and @RyanMoore making us proud! https://twitter.com/sevillafc/status/1686868515247026176?s=48&t=Oyw0jJPvMedDsyokk8XUFA
I’ve introduced myself to everyone who will listen as a member of the Future Peña Sevillista de Washington DC.
Though I’m starting to plot a takeover to create a US-wide Peña because it’s silly for them to be creating Peñas in every city they visit when there are probably currently about 2 sevillistas in each city. Mexico did it right by creating a Mexico-wide Peña Sevillista.
Looks like a lot of fun there. You guys have had a lot of contact with the staff and players.
Not as much as in the past. Ryan has done more with the players this time around. I’ve only met Juanlu and Badé today. We went for drinks with some staff members last night. The schedule for the team has been really busy which has limited access.
Great picture bro! Now waiting for your next one likely with Del Nido in few years time! Haha
Not sure if any of you all follow these guys, just learned of them myself, but they were here in GDL for the derbi. Cool to have English content about Sevilla, and from the US no less!
Sounds like they’re also headed to SF match
Y’all are cool! Can anyone do these meet ups in SF? We’re flying in Saturday morning.
I’ll let everyone know where we will be.
Shoot your number to Chris or I by DM (got WhatsApp?) and we’ll get a group started if possible.
The Peña sevillista de USA is taking form. Between @ChrisLail and I, we recruited a pretty solid new group of sevillistas at the match today. And made some NOISE at the match today. Crazy how many people travelled across the country for this team. Just among the people I talked to, we had sevillistas from Seattle, Texas, Iowa, Las Vegas, DC, San Diego, San Francisco, and Colorado.
And funny enough, not once but twice @ChrisLail got a dose of his fifteen minutes of fame when sevillistas said “oh, you’re Chris Lail of the Monchi’s Men Podcast!?”
I’ll let Chris share the photos of the group since he took them, but it was pretty exciting to have the a very loud and proud sevillista band at the match today.
Hasta la muerte!
Anyone spot the sevillistas while watching the match? For those of you who had access to the SevillaFC YouTube channel in Spain, would love to see any clips of our clan from the game!
I was looking for you all but didn’t see you guys. The second half I was falling asleep to be woken up by shouts from @NayNayAK whenever there was a good (or bad) play.
Could just be your choice of words, but my first reaction was “I swear, I did ask some team members for autographs, but I promise I didn’t irritate any of them!”
And actually, the list of players I never got to meet/take a selfie with/ask for an autograph included Marko, who get shepherded away when he was about to come sign autographs in GDL.
For the record, here’s my list of folks I missed during our SF/GDL adventure:
Dmitrovic, Nianzou, Gudelj, Delaney, Rakitic, Óscar Rodríguez, Suso, Idrissi, Iván Romero, Sow.
And also for the record, Ivan Romero is on my shit list. In GDL, I ran into all the canteranos who were on the tour, chatted with them for a second (I said something like “the most important part of the team.
No cantera, no Sevilla!”). They passed around my jersey and they all signed it, and Ivan Romero intentionally stood off to the side and (implicitly) refused to sign it. Juanlu and Manu Bueno, on the other hand, have my respects. Both seemed like really nice guys. Kike and Flores were both very nice, too, but I got the impression they’re Navas-style introverts. Totally fair, if you’re an introvert, you’re an introvert. Just that Juanlu and Manu Bueno really stood out in their warmth to the fans.
I think @ChrisLail has pics with JuanLu, I only have this one with Manu Bueno (photobomb by Navas)
