I don’t think I ever saw Maupay play, so don’t know much about him - but is there any reason in particular that we should avoid him?
Bad attitude, disliked almost everywhere he played, never was a true finisher.
Alfon gone to Villareal on loan with option to buy (€ 7m)
Juanlu to Napoli?
Napoli are already negotiating the transfer fee with Sevilla. The Andalusian club is asking for a fee close to € 20 million , including add-ons. The Italian club has submitted offers of around € 18
Don’t really understand that one (Alfon). With the Alexis and Vargas-injuries I feel like Alfon would come in handy. Now we just need to fill yet another spot and we didn’t even get cash for him.
Really hope we hold onto Juanlu. He Can be so special.
I get the Juanlu sale. It sucks but needed. Alfon is a head scratcher.
Has Juanlu been sold? Not seen any reliable sources say so.
Honestly, I know we have to sell to buy, byt it makes no sense to sell Juanlu, a starter, and important player in Almeydas 5-3-2 system. Who do they Expect to sign instead? I totally get Selling fringe players, but why weakened an already thin squad? Wait until the summer where you Can get like for like replacements. I promise, there Wont be coming anyone better than Juanlu right now. Winter is not the time to buy players long term. Getting rid of your best players in the middle of the season, where you struggle to even stay in La Liga, is just stupid, finances or not. With Ramos looking to buy the Club “, finances finally abour to look better, so why make the team even weaker? Dont get it and it annoys me.
Sorry for my frustration guys.
Most of the financial moves this club has made in the last 4-5 seasons haven’t made much sense.
But when does it end? When are Sevilla actually gonna be able to hold onto their players and not sell for peanuts
From what I can gather, Alfon is being loaned out to make financial space for Maupay. Alfon has been injured and unable to claim a place in the team, so they let him go for 6 months (I’ve read that there’s no obligatory buy clause) and see if he can find fitness and form again. If he does then Sevilla reap a profit on a player they got for free and who doesn’t necessarily fit in the Almeyda system.
Maupay might not be the answer, but he’s another striker which we need to take the pressure off of Adams.
With Juanlu, it’s tough because he’s just finding form again, however, every Sevilla player was said to be available for sale due to the club’s debt. Juanlu had teams after him in the summer, but it seems he’s only interested in Napoli, so it’s down to them to decide whether to pay the €20 million the club wants for him (coincidentally also the sum the club needs to raise to balance the books for the season).
Apart from the EPL & a few select teams every team is effectively a selling team now, there’s no other way to compete and survive. Even in La Liga, Barca & Real are streets ahead of all the other clubs, that’s why Atleti sold part of the club, they need cash despite being the third team of Spain..
Maupay hasnt played at all and was frozen out of Marseille. He wont join in form at ready to contribute right away. It seems like a desperate signing. Not a quality one.
I know that every player is for sale for the right Price. That wont change even if Sevilla got UCL, but.. Atletico is much better to keep hold of their players now. They dont just sell them for the first and best bid. That is Where I want Sevilla to Be. Will We Ever see a player like Navas again? Or Kanoute? Players who stay more than 2 seasons at the club and not just leave as soon as they turn good.
I heard it was €10m and not €20m?
I Think the potential is there for that to happen. Many players actually seem like they want to stay at Sevilla, not bcos of money but of love for the club, which is something money can’t buy. Im sure if you asked Juanlu, Carmona, Romero etc, they would stay at Sevilla for their whole career. So its sad that finances force them out.
I just hope that with a new ownership, Sevilla Will be able to hold onto their players and not sell bcos they HAVE to, but only bcos they want to.
When Will it happen? I dont know. I just Think Sevilla needs to build a team for the Long term and not just for every season. That is not how Sevilla should be.
Counterpoint, we have always been that club. Navas to some degree was an exception, but even he left.
In many ways, that’s what had made this club special. The ability to bounce back and carry on despite selling your best talents.
The problem is that we haven’t been able to replace sales with quality since the Kounde and Carlos years. We have to get better at finding gems for cheap again. That’s almost impossible in the data driven with everything filmed and available technologies we have today. That means, Sevilla has to figure out other revenue streams other than just selling their kids.
Maupay official!
What can we really expect from Maupay?
Is he another washed up player a-la Januzaj that won’t do anything for us?
Never seen him play. Saw some highlights and not that impressed.
Is Corndog only reacting aimlessly after his big fat 2M a year salary was leaked?
What is happening with Juanlu? Alfon left, not surprising as he couldn’t fit well in Almeyda’s tactics.
The club mismanagement seems to continue, at least for now.
I have no idea about Maupay’s level, but I have seen way too many players come and go in Sevilla FC to judge him before he plays. I have seen exciting prospects turn into dust and disappear, I have seen washed-up over-the-hill players find their second youth and I have seen unknown second-division players turn into worldclass. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. But I am still hoping for more…
One thing this transfer does allow is for the kids who are having to come up to the senior roster to actually get minutes at SAT, who are in a relegation battle of their own at the moment.
Not sure what Maupay will bring to the team exactly.
He has two sides to him, he hadquality & fight, but he has an attitude that can put him at odds with managers and team mates.
If Almeyda can get him playing & feeling good then he’ll be a combative striker who’ll run and give as good as he gets from the opposition.
On the other hand, he’s said that he doesn’t work well with long ball football and teams that cross a lot and can lose his head at times.
I guess he’ll be best suited to play just behind Adams in the role that Isaac currently holds
And he isnt better than Isaac so I dont get the point. Maupay is not a good player imo. He is just another body in a squad that desperately lack stars and quality
