So we have sold in this window Juanlu and Akor for €28m and spent roughly €2.5m on Fran Gonzalez and Julio Diaz. I assume we will still sell more than buy however there is a need to sign replacements for Alexis and Akor to even stay up this season.
I think when Juan Iglesias was signed it was clear then that one of Juanlu or Carmona would go but I think its better that we sold Juanlu because while Carmona has a mistake in him sometimes Juanlu is invisible during matches, this is not the worst thing that could have happened.
Regardless of the fee, Sow leaving is a real punch in the gut. If he isnt properly replaced we will really be in the pits. I hope the new sporting director knows what he is doing. Rafa Mir is a good sale, 2.5m saved in wages to someone who will go to prison at some point in the next year.
That is a very good move for Nyland to join RB Leipzig, his agent has done well there although he isnt a bad keeper (very inconsistent, not as good as Odysseas last season). A shame that even the likes of Franck Kessie, Lorenzo Pellegrini or Raphael Guerreiro are still without a club, would make a very decent addition to the team but there is absolutely no way we can replace them. I dont see how we replace Sow with someone who matches his level. Really really bad
It sounds like asset stripping to me. It good he getting players out. However, most players that left either ended their contracts or their loan deal. That is about 7/8. Navarro didn’t do anything special here.
The only good deals out seem to be Akor Adams and Juanlu.
Nianzou left eventually but Sevilla still financially suffered in getting him out. Only 4 or 5 million for Sow isn’t great as he was one of our best midfielders.
Some players will come but we so short. We not ready to start season against Rayo with depleted midfield and attack.
I fear this asset stripping and the money well will just go in the shareholders back pockets. We going to scramble around for free agents and loans in last week of window as is the planning at this club!
Let’s see who comes in but if last 4 years are anything to go by I not positive. We lost a lot of core experience in this window so far all at once. I doubt we get 8 players in to replace who as game. I see maybe 3/4 and let’s see what they like.
Sadly he probably told to sell and offload as much as he can from Sevilla board. There still doesn’t appear to be a plan in place. It not his fault though as been left with this mess and just following orders.
It might clear debt a bit but we risking relegation more with weaker squad. We caught in endless loop after mismanagement for several years now.
Basically Sow extended his contract to spread his wages over two years instead of one in order for Sevilla to register all the players. In return, the organization dropped his transfer fee to 4 million.
Sad about Sow, really hoped he would continue his fine form from Frankfurt but it wasn’t to be, being one of the midfielders to almost play every game and having to adapt to different coaches every few months didn’t help.
Probably means Sevilla will keep Agoume, any more high-earners left in the squad that can be offloaded? Marcao and Jordan come to mind but not sure anyone will want them.
Vargas has 9.4 million remaining over 3 years; roughly the same as Sow. Marcao is over 3 million annually, Carmona 3 million over 2 years, Jordan 3.5 million on this last year.Suazo 8 million over 2 years. Agoume is only 4.5 over 2 years. I’m not sure about the new signings yet and what their salaries look like.
Thanks for the figures Chris. The numbers make a Vargas transfer all the more likely, a strong World Cup campaign and Aston Villa having pocketed more than 150m pounds from selling Rogers and Tielemans means they need to do business. If an offer of 30m+ comes along I don’t expect the board to stand in the way.
Marcao is a must go, Jordan is on his final year so would probably sit it out on the bench, Suazo is pricey but considered a key player so he’s not going anywhere. Hopefully the board do have some more guys lined up.
I get we have to sell but all this is worrying. We are losing key players and not replacing them and going into the Rayo game depleted. Planning seems to be lacking.
We only just stayed up again last year and now we are hoping we can this season with a weaker squad currently?
I don’t think the planning is so much lacking as their hands are tied. The salary constraints are so tight that they can’t register new players unless folks move along. It’s a really crappy situation, but until more move on, we just can’t maneuver like I’m sure the GM would like.
