I’m not really excited with the signings of cardosa or Azpil either. Azpil is the better option as been a talented player and experienced but he very old/injury prone now. Cardosa was a flop at Porto and they were happy to offload.
Alexis Sánchez was decent in past but not now at 36. He hasn’t scored in an age and he’s way past his prime.
Mendy is a good signing and I’m happy with that one. A box to box and will give us more steel, power and pace in midfield.
That is all we addressed though the centre midfield a bit. No action taken on wingers, no great centre forward, not the best defenders so it going to be tough folks.
Let’s pray there are 3 worse teams again and the players we got is enough.

To make matters worse I think Cardosa signing might have fallen through. It didn’t excite me but was least another option. Jesus Christ!

You sell Idumbo, no replacement
You get rid of Sambi and Saul. Bring in Mendy, but no creative midfielder.
You loan out Pedrosa but don’t get a replacement. Bet 100% that Suazo will be available all season long without any injuries or suspension and that he doesn’t get any competition or doesn’t need healthy rotation.
You rescind Iheanacho’s contract only to replace him with an ex player who decided to play football for fun again, fucking Alexis fucking Sanchez - 36 years old.
You can’t sell Juanlu who wanted to get out at all costs. You can’t get rid of Carmona.
You keep Ejuke and count on him.
You don’t bring in a striker who can compete with goal-drought Adams and Isaac.
You still leave a lot of room for Gudelj to be an undisputed starter.

Just seen all the moves, honestly I’m not too disappointed.
First off through 3 sales, the club brought in €60 million approx to help register players and hopefully take something off the pile of debt.
Second of all, I never thought I’d see such a weird window from Sevilla. Honestly, I think Alexis Sanchez is a fun signing, even if he can only play a few games! He’s a player with heart and experience that will hopefully help the team on the training ground. Same with Dave (Azpilicueta), he can cover across the back line & hopefully help sort out the defending of this team!
I know nothing of Cardoso or Mendy, so hopefully they’ll have some impact.
All in all it wasn’t the window that fans expected or wanted, but it honestly could’ve been worse. At least the club’s Chilean following will get a boost from Sanchez & Suazo

On paper, our best XI is something like this:
The CB pairing will come down to whoever’s fit & available, and not worse than Gudelj, Salas & Castrín.
It won’t take that much to be better than last season, even tho Lukebakio won us alot of those points. I’m counting on that front trio to be prolific, and hopefully some good play from the fullback positions. We’ve been so deprived of that since Navas/Acuña. I hope Mendy is a positive influence in midfield and breathes new life into it, almost how Gueye was for us.
The window could have been way better, but i wonder why Orta couldn’t at least do something like this. This squad is still so far behind from where it should be, and we STILL can’t get rid of its damn deadweight.
Season prediction: 11th place.

Has there been any word from ownership / management on the state of the club and what they’re trying to accomplish? If there was a planned sell-off for younger players, I could understand that vision. But to just sell our best players and sign aging replacements leaves me with questions about what their goal is for this season and upcoming ones. Especially for a club with the history and success they’ve had…
I’m torn between 16th, 17th or 18th league finish. We will be right down there. A really poor window overall.
That team and squad is weaker than last season. We lost our best attacker and defender. Where are the frequent goals and assists going to come? I guess we relying on Vargas and Alfon. That defence also scares me. We signed cardosa a Porto reject and Azpil who was a good player in past but so old now and injury prone.
The central midfield hasn’t been addressed. We only signed 1 player after losing a couple of players there.
We haven’t signed anyone as good as what we lost. If we stay up it will be an achievement or we lucky there’s worse again. I will take 16th or 17th now and hope there is worse. I think we struggle to get to 40 points again.
