Well, I just don’t think those points are enough to blame the guy for not giving a damn. I can’t find a statistic for his distance covered, but according to La Liga he’s got more recoveries than Badé. I don’t think we can say anything about his influence in the locker room because we know nothing about it, but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him be one of the first to go and applaud the fans both after victories and defeats.

And his positional awareness could just be a result of his general football-level. And that, I agree, is not on a level I think we should strive for. One could actually argue that Badé has more blunders than Gudelj, 'cause we know Badé can perform on a really high level.

Regarding the captain-position: isn’t it common in Spain that the armband is given to the player who has been in the club the longest?

Thank you. I think I’ve been visiting the site daily, but I just haven’t found the will to actually participate

As a player footballing wise, I’d agree he’s pretty average. You want more if you’re aiming for European places etc.

However, I don’t think you can question his commitment and passion for Sevilla. Whether that’s how long he’s been at the club for or because he’s willing to play midfield/defence/anywhere for the shirt. I would say he loves the club and he has said as much. The effort is always there and he brings a personality. I believe he’s a popular player in the dressing room which has to be good for morale.

And he doesn’t half come up with some rocket goals.

I think for where we find ourselves now he can do a job and I can’t help but like him.

My question is why does it matter who has the arm band? If there’s a leader in the locker room, they will lead whether or not they have the arm band

This is what happens when you rely on non-Spaniards and non-academy players. You get guys that can easily get shit on for not caring about the club. As good as Rakitic was, he also faced similar criticism at times. I don’t doubt that players like Gudelj and Rakitic have earned wearing the badge. Their fight and care are there to see in my opinion…you just have to look past the bad football in Gudlej’s case.

Was also wanting to welcome @Niller back, I feel like I remember you on MM since way back when…2011ish, does that sound right?
I myself was are regular commenter for years, went dark for 5-10 years and then came back a few years ago after Chris harassed me a few times for being out of loop…

Could be around 2011 if that is not a bit too early. It was definitely on the old site and I specifically remember René was a frequent poster back then. But I too think I’ve been drifting in and out during the years. And then we had a baby boy in January last year so the amount of time I had to watch the Sevilla-games and also posting on hear decreased for some reason…

He’s still at the club only because the management is disastrous and didn’t have the balls to sell him or loan him out and get a decent CB instead.

So, he’s a product of the circumstances. The captain armband… the constant playing. He’s an accident, this season.

Akor Adams out for 6-7 weeks…

wonderful.

What the…

Did he slip in the bathroom or something?

He didn’t even train long enough to risk any injury, let alone play.

FFS!

Where did you see that estimate? I didn’t see a specific estimate in the news clip I found…

Not just Akor, but Lokonga is also out for 4 weeks. :upside_down_face:

Jesus that isn’t good considering we left with a small squad of only 20 players. Let’s pray we don’t get any more injuries especially pray Lukebakio stays fit!

Yeah, I saw a similar headline, but couldn’t track down how they came up with the time frames. I suspect some journalist just took what the club cited as the injuries and looked up what the average duration of those injuries is…the club doesn’t seem to have given any indication of seriousness or timeframe…
