Doesn’t inspire confidence that Orta was director of football at a relegated club.
However. La Liga totally different to the Premier League of course and he’s been with us before for a number of years with Monchi, so let’s see what happens.

Yep… sad but it’s the truth.
A lot of hate for Orta on r/soccer … which isn’t surprising from a mostly Prem-centric sub. 7 years at Sevilla working under Monchi from 2006-2013 is definitely a highlight, and so is the original promotion of Leeds. I can’t speak to his signings, but that’s where most of the negativity on him seems to come from. Already made a couple moves for Sevilla but curious how the rest of the offseason goes.
How many times was Mendilibar relegated? Let’s not judge Orta until we have something to judge.
That’s not fair though. Leeds is a much more comparative example than Eibar is for a club like Sevilla. With that said, we have to give him a chance even if he is a chemist and not a footballer. ![]()

Yeah, not doubting that. Absolutely willing to give him a chance.
Fair to say Leeds fans dislike him though. Probably not a strong enough word!
On the other hand, Monchi could’ve been one too this year
Seems like Monchi felt like he was losing influence and the board wanted to go more towards a business direction that Monchi didn’t agree with. If things would have been like old times, he wouldn’t leave. He doesn’t care about money, and doesn’t want to leave. But definitely behind the screens things are moving in a different direction and he wants out. I am unsure of what exactly but can smell some things, just as you could see with Castro and Carrasco Jr sometimes and also with Mendi. They aren’t aligned, and that’s when you have to count your blessings and move elsewhere and Villa seems like a great project for him. Again, all the best Ramon.
Hope to fix that eventually
good or bad?

In terms of their work relationship and atmosphere, bad. Clearly from the side of Monchi. Castro is a good talker, but I start to doubt his honesty sometimes. Objectively good or bad its hard to tell, this summer might show a lot.
Sevilla’s escudo and Monchi say to each other: “Thanks for making me great”
I really prefer to think things will calm down about the Monchi exit, but I fear there may be more drama to come…but maybe Monchi will keep his drama out of the press, we’ll see.
Honestly, I’ve already moved on. We all knew deep down that Monchi wouldn’t be around forever. Despite the drama, I’m happy he was able to go out on a high note after the season we had.
I thought he would be here as long as he wanted to be.
I actually think this is a good move. We had success with him before and he’s did well elsewhere. He’s got great experience. It’s a new era and do think we needed son change. Let’s see what happens.
I’m happy as well. Monchi left in the perfect way. It always felt though that his mind was starting to look elsewhere in last year ir do.
He’s a legend but for the growth of club it’s a good time to move on now and start a new positive era hopefully.
Well, he left at the perfect time. It’s his manner of exit could have been better, but that’s water under the bridge at this point. We have our replacement, and Orta seems to already have gotten to work faster than Monchi did last year. I’m optimistic about next year.
Same here man. Yeah he’s straight to work and looking to get the squad ready for the start of the season. Let’s hope for a positive new chapter in the clubs history.
Yeah, I’m sure folks would love to play up the narrative of Mendi and Orta at odds. Somehow, I don’t picture that actually happening in practice.
BTW, do we just keep this thread going forever or do we put Monchi thread to bed at some point?
