Was hoping for the win but being honest we didn’t deserve it. Bilbao battered us in that second half and we were lucky to come away with a draw against a good side. They’ll be top four challengers I think.

A battling point though and we showed a lot of spirit to get it. More attacking intent as well and a more exciting game than anything served by Lope.

We’re a work in progress under Sampaoli and I’m sure the results will start to come when he works things out and can stamp his own style into the team.

Need some results in our coming games against Mallorca and Valencia as Real away after that!

The excitement and optimism is back though! Onto Dortmund. Vamos!

We got battered 2nd half because of 1 noticeable issue with this squad, and that is the fitness levels.
Last 30 mins you could see the players that were puffing, Sampaoli noticed this and made the changes to try and breath some energy back into the team, Papu was knackered, and others too went through their 2nd wind quit early in the 2nd half. I can honestly say I have never seen Isco run so much and did more chasing than I have even seen before. If we are going to be a competitive force again the main thing we need to work on is getting through games. Maybe Lopetegui knew his teams limits, one thing is for sure, they will be worked hard over the next few weeks and will either fit in or be left out, and it really doesn’t help having 11 of the squad aged 30+.
I kind of expected this system which seemed to work for 30-40 mins and so much better with only 2 days to prepare, we will have to see how we continue as I know JS will work on other systems and I can speak for majority of the fans inside the RSP tonight when I say it was so much better to see this style of football over chained up dog walking football…

We did. And we didn’t.

I really enjoyed that 1st half, Montiel & Papu overlapping, attacking down the right was a breath of fresh air after watching boring Lope ball. Why did Sampa switch Papu to the left for the 2nd half?
Certainly some signs of better things to come & a far better atmosphere in the stadium than of late. A win would have been great but overall the draw was a fair result.

Finally Sevillistas can enjoy some proper football not Lopeball again after more than a thousand days.

Anyone know why Bono didn’t get the start yesterday? Is he hurt? Are we giving him some rest? Did Sampaoli just want a closer look at Dmitrović?

The club did put a tweet out saying Bono has a problem but deleted not long after and someone did say he had a bandage on his thigh in training on Friday so perhaps they didn’t want to risk it…

Everything in yesterday’s match seems to speak to what we’ve all said all along: blame for this season is shared equally. Financial restrictions imposed by the board/Castro/reality, planning challenges with Dirección Deportiva, and Lope-Ball incapacity.

But at least one of three seems to be solved.

I’m happy with the result for such a hard rival in great form and little prep / transition time for Sampaoli
