When I saw it live I thought no way it’s a pen, but after watching the replay on tv the defender did tread on his foot and it was a clear pen.
Ocampos does not help himself though by being too theatrical in throwing himself to the floor in typical Argentinian style.
I’m sure if VAR had been involved we would have got it.

You can’t win them all and this bump in the road shouldn’t put too much of a damper on the team and the progress it has made these past few weeks.
I saw a team that created plenty of chances and believed in the comeback until the ref blew the whistle for the final time. Pretty far from Lope-ball and definitely a reason to keep being optimistic for the remainder of this season.

Since I have been dragging you all along in my avid following of a boring statistical model, I figured even in the bummer matches I should share it, for what will likely be its last appearance here:
Two things, one visible here, one not but part of the 538 model. First, Béticos will not get UCL this year. Hooray for that.
Second, not on this screenshot, but also in the model: SevillaFC now only has 5% chance of ending 7th after the loss to Girona. And 1% chance of anything above that. So in effect,
Help us Osasuna, you’re our only hope.

Are you sure about that? The only player not under contract (loans excluded) is Gudelj. You are going to have a lot of players having to cancel contracts, free transfers, etc.

I hope so, we should buy 10 or more every Summer, getting rid of those who don’t exceed expectations. Of course reality makes it a bit more difficult because the useless players are harder to move on and the vultures come for our best players. But all things being equal, if it can be done it should be, like it was during the Emery years.
