MD13 - Sevilla FC at Real Betis [22/23]

Ok, so this both pisses you off but then reminds you of what it means:

Yep, it means they’re scared of us, even when we’re 18th in the table.

PS - The hashtag is a callback to an excellent moment in Sevilla history under Carlos Salvador Bilardo. Los de colorado son los nuestros! The same hot mic moment that picked up the (in) famous “Pisalo, pisalo!”

For the folks who don’t speak Spanish. :poop: have opened 532 seats as a Sevilla supporters section. Unbelievable.

I’m just hoping that we can spring a massive surprise and get what would be a shock win.

Obviously not expecting anything right now but football is a strange game.

We can live in hope.

It’s been the same for years. Only around 500 seats are given by both clubs to the away fans.
This is how it works on derby day.
There is a ballot for tickets and those lucky enough to get one have to go to their home stadium at an appointed time on the day of the game to receive a ticket voucher. Once everyone is accounted for all 500 or so fans are escorted by the police on foot to the rival stadium.
On arrival at the rival stadium vouchers are exchanged for entry tickets, anyone turning up independently with or without a voucher is refused entry.
After the game once the home fans have dispersed the away fans are escorted back by the police.

I guess there are a couple nuanced issues the locals have raised about this particular section, but I also think within the bigger picture is the question that even if Sevilla only gave 532 seats (we regularly give way more than that for derbis), it’s also that their stadium has far more seating, so it’s proportionally less.

I also think that Sevilla has always sold all of their section, so not giving a lot to :poop: is justified, whereas :poop: regularly has empty seats all over the place and refuse to give a larger away section for Sevilla. Again, they’re scared of SevillaFC, even when we’re weak and downtrodden

I think Beti are quietly confident and deeply worried at the same time. If they can’t do it at home this year it will psyche them all season. They owe it to the fans and so they will be nervous. They’re playing Helsinki in two hours time without some key players and resting others for the derby, so I’ll be watching that game with interest.

I think they will beat us this time but like you say it’s still a big mental hurdle for them to overcome.

They are on an ugly run of results against us and have the pressure of being the big favourites this time. It’s possible they could choke again but still I’m not confident we have the quality or mentality to punish them currently.

Hopefully we’ll be in a position to play as strong a team as possible. No Salas or Carmona starting and hopefully Marcao fit playing alongside either Gudelj or Rekik with Navas (knows a derby welll) and Acuna as full backs.

And for god sake, play a forward and start Mir!

Yay, this.

The derby is always a one off, little to do with form and more to do with desire and organization on the day. The fans will instill the desire as the team leaves the Melia Hotel in Nervion, it just needs to spark us forward to the victory.

This is going to be a tough match in an already tough season. Here in town the :poop: fans have been giving us a lot of grief for the season we are having so far and are riding high. It would be really good for the teams morale to get a win here.

Didn’t he do his Hamstring? He ain’t going to be about for a good 4-6 weeks surely?

“He will be out of action until after the World Cup,” said Sevilla in a statement.

Fernando was back in training today. I’m sure we will see him on Saturday.

Damn. We’re screwed.

I would go with a Gudelj and Rekik pairing if available. Fernando maybe another option.

Sadly it seems he’s a walking sick note. Just what we don’t need in the predicament we in.

Animo Marcáo
He’s upset with the injuries, from what I’ve heard he sounds like a dedicated professional.

Yes a shame with the injuries as he’s looked a decent defender when he’s played.
