MD12 - Sevilla FC vs Rayo Vallecano [22/23]

When the card came out I thought he was going to book the Rayo player for play acting, but we all know how much this ref hates us.

Relegation threatened team. I’m very worried!

Well make the most of the EL this season guys because the nearest we are going to get to Europe next season is Andorra

In a way I’m pleased to be in it for the prestige and money. However, it could also be a bad distraction if we still fighting potential relegation battle come February. I really hope not but we have to get a way from the bottom as fast as possible as we have less experience at fighting that than other teams.

Blow up the midfield.

What really stands out is our inability to centre a ball, the majority don’t get past the first defender, in excess of 80% I would say. But that barely scrapes the surface of our problems.

Isco is a big part of our problem, he cannot carry us, he’s trying to but can’t do it. He should play every game from minute 75 onwards. that’s all he’s got.

Rafa mir misses a wide open net and then Rayo score their only chance of the half a minute later. This is how the season has been going.

Weak and pathetic.

Some players do not deserve the shirt, sadly, and they are:

  • Rafa fucking Mir

  • Su fucking So!

  • Ivan fucking Rakitic (with all due respect, should retire or play only from the 80-85th minute)

  • Joan fucking Jordan

  • Adnan fucking Januzaj (although not bad tonight, still, not worthy of a Sevilla shirt)

I’m talking about the ones that featured tonight, but there are many others too like Dolberg, Carmona, YEN etc.

As Jim said, for the positives let’s look there. Despite all the possesion loss and dumb things we’ve done. The bad defending and slip ups. Still some brilliance from Isco. Dmitrovic did alright, as it could have been worse. Jordan played a good game as well.

There’s time to give up on Isco, although he’s in fact slowing the game a lot. It’s quite obvious that he can’t play the Nasri role so far, but he’s technically our best player on the pitch.

We had 5 game slowers who featured tonight: Isco, Rakitic, Jordan, Papu and Suso. Can’t make the system work with 2+ of them featuring at the same time.

In the first half we never had a shot. We made Rayo look like Real Madrid at times. It was so comfortable for them all match and they should have won by more.

Time to see how the system pans out without Isco.

This is true. I honestly don’t see us getting anything in the derby next week. Albeit we do well against them I just don’t think these players have it in them anymore.

The whole team need a kick in the backside, and a couple need to be kicked out entirely, we just don’t have the players to turn this round without revolutionizing our method of play.

Sorry you didn’t get the result or the performance, what a pity.

I think you mean blow up the whole team!

We didn’t deserve anything. They totally dominated the game.

I can see why lope couldn’t wait to get out of there. He got out quick and a big pay cheque to boot. Despite the fact he was part of the problem, any manager will struggle to do well with these players and how our Sevilla board is currently operating.

Interesting insight, they did dominate but without the possession that indicates domination. They just did the more dangerous things.

Their goal was 2 touch, long ball out of deep defence to a wide player who cut inside and scored with a slight deflection off the boot of Gudelj.

When do Sevilla ever do that? It’s just not in our repertoire.

What I’m sensing is that Sampi didn’t want to trash the system before he had new players, he just wanted a halfway solution giving us more freedom to show our talent. It’s still Lope ball though and it’s still costing us. I’m not sure that he has that luxury now and he needs to do something radical quick.

Desperate times

Back from the match…man I cannot stand that ref…he is so card happy. They seemed to mostly go one way too. Overall we lacked intention to shoot until we were down. We kick the ball around side to side, but really don’t take too many chances.

In person Marcao seemed off. He hesitated a bit after receiving the pass. Not sure if he was having a bad day, but my feel was he wasn’t in it.

Man, those breakaways are killing us this season. We got burned on the one they scored on and they almost got another one Dmitrovitic managed to stop.

The crowd was in it the whole game, but it was definitely a downer losing to a team we should beat.
