I think atletico will win it now. I see them winning them all. Their run in isn’t bad and they have a fully fit squad again.
Let’s hope so. The least that I’d want is for either RM or Barca to win it.
Atletico are playing Real Sociedad next, and that’s a tough game tbh I hope they can get past them
We were never winning it anyway. The defeat to Bilbao cost us. Today we played spoiler and it worked. We hurt real and helped atleti.
It’s disappointing not to win but still satisfied overall.
I think we’re being too kind towards Atletico, our prime objective is to win and win and win. I understand the hatred against Barca and Real Madrid, I feel the same, but Sevilla have to come first.
I think thats the only tricky one for them. I say they beat osasuna and Valladolid comfortably. Soceidad if they pass that then they win it.
I think this will give them a big boost. It’s been a good weekend for atleti. As they still 2 points clear and more missed chances for Barca and real. Both could have went top and failed.
All of this. It looked disgusting out there for large periods. I don’t even think we deserved the draw.
Agreed. Did any of the subs actually touch the ball?
We played well for the first 20 mins then spent the rest of the game giving the ball away, so frustrating when they were there for the taking.
We were lucky with the hand ball for the pen otherwise Bono was off and we would have lost this.
Yet again Acuña was by far our best player. If only we had a Benzema up front.
Watching the inquest right now on Gol tv Spain and loving how r madrid are outraged at the referee being prejudiced towards Sevilla That must be a first
Apparently we made history tonight, that was the first time a penalty has been cancelled due to a previous penalty offence.
Edit
All the Gol tv pundits now saying that they should have had at least 3 pens and Bono should have been red carded,
We let them shoot from outside the box too often, even with 2 DMs. One of them were destined to go in.
As for us, Papu and Ocampos killed most of the positions trying to dribble unnecessarily.
The big games costing us the championship. We don’t seem to have confidence to win these games, conceding late goals cannot be explained with bad luck. Stepping back too deep is to be blamed. We need to be a little bit bolder in these matches.
Football can be very cruel at times and that late Madrid goal could have been a real gut-wrencher under different circumstances but we were all prepared for it and realistic about it. Taking into account that we qualified for Champions with a month to spare, as @ChrisLail said, was a massive achievement.
Papu was not right for that game, it was OK to try him there but it was never going to work without more support around him. Ocampos has been below standard since before the Getafe cruncher, it’s a bit strange that he’s not firing on all cylinders.
I think YEN is carrying some slight injury though. Last week an Athletic defender overtook him in a short sprint for a ball. He clocked up 38.9 kph while he was with Leganes which I believe still is the fastest recorded in la liga.
As you guys said, tiredness is affecting our players, no doubts.
Congratulations on the Podcast, your analysis is really top quality and you somehow seem to spot many elements of the game that hadn’t occurred to me.
Real Madrid fans have the nerve to say they were cheated last night. Their associates at club and fans are a disgrace to football. What a horrible vile club.
Atleti mentioned how they trying to put pressure on refs for run in. It’s not gonna work this time. In fact it’s glorious to see Real Madrid in such a decline.
I agree we didn’t play a great game at all yesterday but they still couldn’t beat us. The decline of Barca and real is beautiful to see.
I think we can be positive for the future as sevilla fans. No reason we can’t stay close next season either and build on another positive season.
I feel if atleti win it this season they will then be favourites again next season. Can’t remember a team outside Barca or real to defend la liga but atleti will have a good shot at it next season if they do it now. Plus we hopefully will be in the mix too.
It’s because they’re not used to having decisions against, they expect decisions to go their way, they’ve become normalised to it. Heck, I’m a Sevilla fan and even I expect it to go for Madrid.
I hope we never see a false 9 again. You left a guy with a 1.22 shot on target per game on the bench against a makeshift defense and got zero shots on goal from the run of play in the first half.
@Edinho is the smart one and is awesome! I just push buttons. haha
Very true. They had everything there own way for years. It’s VAR they hate. That is why I’m a massive fan of VAR. As without it they would have got a way with that handball and got the penalty and a red card for us.
The benzema offside goal may have been given too. I remember in the past watching real getting late offside goals or dubious pens.
It’s more difficult for the refs to cheat for them because of VAR thankfully.
I wouldn’t be sad if Ocampos left. He seems to be one of the more selfish players on the team with his attempts at fancy footwork and not to mention he tends to struggle to keep pace with most players he is against.
Just out of curiosity, how do people here feel about Sergio Ramos?
I understand your thoughts. Personally he’s got a lot of talent and can have good games occasionally. However, he does sometimes make bad decisions in final third and doesn’t pass at the right time.
He was much more effective last season in his first season. I feel this season teams have worked him out a bit and he’s become a bit more predictable.
We’d probably still get decent money from him if someone is interested in signing him. I wouldn’t be devastated to lose him either.
He f’d us when he left on the day before the transfer window closed, celebrated against us when he scored against us, made gestures to the Biris to mock them, he’s old, he’s always injured, he’s hotheaded, he is great at penalties and has a knack for scoring in the last minutes of a match. I do not want him back with this club; but if Monchi thinks he fits, then I could get on board. How about you?
