This shows that Lope relies on luck and spontaneous circumstances first, tactics second. He also believes in ‘names’ more than in players and their actual skills. Any solid coach would never field a totally slow midfield against a very pacey opponent.

I would go with a 3 back now, regain the midfield control put Oliver and de Jong for aerial presence and may luck be with us.

That’s an interesting approach for the second half, it might work. At minimum we should sub off Rakitic.

We haven’t delivered many balls that needed an aerial presence. Poor YEN getting worse service than RyanAir.

I really wish Lopetegui would try and start Oscar and Oliver more often, I really do. They bring something Rakitic doesn’t: that attacking edge and final third effort

Rakitic rarely brings out anything to be honest. I can’t remember him having more than 2 decent games so far this season.

I don’t see why, you don’t want to change anything at the start of the second half. Is it just to slumber and waste 20 minutes of doing the same thing as before?
