We had the possession and chances and just couldn’t find a winner. Rafa Mir has got to be doing better, he had time to take a touch. Navas really did set it up for him on a plate!
7 points from 9 isn’t bad but Barcelona are up next so could have done with a win!
Too many players below normal level, perhaps Youssef was exception. I think we all have too much expectation of Rafa Mir, he’ll have good games but he’s not a complete player. In particular Acuña is not the same player as last season, neither is Navas and Jordan is unrecognizable. The break should sort us out but the tactics are totally lamentable.
This 2 games show the signings in the summer improve the bench but the starting and plays are more or less the same as last year.
The last time we have 3 straight win starting the session is 06/07. Maybe it’s a sign.
I would say the expectation is still 4th place this season, unless tecatito or Sarabia is signed.
Isn’t ready and too far away at this point - things can change as the season is long, of course. But YEN is simply too hot this time around. Rafa Mir and YEN together as we’ve seen in the last two matches could work though, but I’d still prefer two wingers feeding YEN rather than with a Rafa Mir in the mix who could complicate things because he wants to score but is unable to.
Lots to improve on. We leave things to late to really get on top. Happened against getafe and same today. Need to move the ball quicker at times and show better cohesion.
I hope we also sign 2 centre backs and either corona/sarabia but time is running out. I think 4th is probably still most realistic to be honest even though we want more. At least we unbeaten though and after all the disruption we had and other issues it’s still a good start to the season.
Overhitting an important ball. Happens. Let’s go back to Youssef his first games and see how he touches the ball and composes in front of goal. Mir is fine and not the culprit of this loss.
Agree with the comments about many of the signings being bench warmers. We definitely need a Corona or Sarabia going forward and then most urgently some centre backs.
It doesn’t fill me with confidence Rekik starting every game!
People forgetting that the players already here, and were the solid core for 2 years are underperforming blatantly. No reason to start blaming the new ones yet.
The central defense indeed is worrying.
Lack of literal speed but also of ball passing and understanding. I’m confident this will come.
I just wish we would at least look a little more lively and energetic. Is it necessary to play with two deep-lying playmakers in front of Fernando? Rakitic and Jordan are brilliant passers and controlling the midfield, but the creativity on the final-third should imo be left for others. The 4-3-3 is brilliant for us to keep possession and dominate the game, but I feel like a 4-2-3-1 with a player right behind Yen in the space between the opponents defence and midfield would do wonders in this sort of game where the opposition don’t really care if they have the ball or not.
You said the same about Rony Lopes if you remember - I guess right some of the cast outs , but still not giving up on Rafa Mir, too early as you say. Let’s give him another 30 mins
This is my biggest frustration for a while, when i watch Sevilla…
Sevilla has two routes: Centreback → Right Back → Right Wing , or the same on the other side
The centermids are almost never available and if they do receive the ball it’s either a longball to the left, right or the strikers instead of short passes slowly moving towards the edge of the box, the place you want to be to create chances.
