M20: Sevilla FC vs Cádiz CF [20/21]

That’s brilliant forward play again from Yen. He could get 5 today if he keeps this up

Definitely looks like he’s been working on his finishing in training. Always got into the positions just lacked the end product. At least he’s getting in the right positions I suppose and then confidence takes over

I think his technique can questionable on occasions but we definitely gets himself in great positions and it’s really paying off for him now.

I actually rated him at leganes and when he signed I was excited. When he first got going I wasn’t impressed at all. Obviously Monchi and co had the belief in him. What do I know ehh. Il stick to hiding in the sea :joy:

I would have said the same about YEN few weeks ago :joy:

This seems like the match to have brought De Jong on to try and get him some confidence no?

Lets focus on the important stuff, how did @SurreySevilla know Sevilla would score more than 2? And what happened to Koundé’s hairdresser at half-time.

Two hat-tricks from YEN in RSP and he’s pichichi for a short while at least.

Let him think, he won’t shine anywhere else but in Sevilla, just like many many others!

Anyone know his release clause?

For the podcast, if @Edinho and @ChrisLail can pronounce ‘Majadahonda’, it’s where Atletico Madrid train.

So looks like we can only keep YEN for a year or two at most.
IMO it would be quite stupid to leave after this season,
he improves a lot but still not top class striker yet.
I do hope Monchi set his release clause high enough so he could be sold for 60M at least.

Gudelj booked so he misses the next match.
Overall it was a good display from Sevilla, but there was that worrying 10min spell in the 2nd half when Cadiz could have scored 2 or 3. Negredo missed an absolute sitter, and was nearly gifted another by Gudelj

Regarding Yen. I doubt you are old enough to remember Brian Deane who played for Sheff Utd & Leeds?
He was very similar in style, he often looked like Bambi on ice when he ran, almost tripping himself up. But he became a great striker and eventually played for England. I see a lot of him in Yen.

Youssef En-Hattricky back at it again!

I can’t remember the last game we played this well and totally annihilated the opponent without thinking much about whether they could take any point from us. This performance had vibes of the mini-EL Sevilla.

The only downside is the disastrous performance of Rakitic. It was camouflaged by the result and our overall brilliance, but the guy is totally useless. I’d bench him for a long while and start Oliver and Jordan.

Another positive is Sergi Gomez, who is making us not miss Diego Carlos, so it is being proven again and again that our main defender and the one that makes our back-line flourish is Kounde. Sell him next season and we’ll have to start from scratch, Diego Carlos won’t cut it alone.

Navas also played well despite the overload and I’m sure everyone is noticing that whenever Ocampos plays like a proper team-player without being selfish, we play brilliantly.

We should capitalize on the superb form of YEN and Suso.

VAMOS!

Btw Lope was quite mad at that yellow from Gudelj. Not sure what happened to Fernando and I hope he’ll be ready for the next match because we’ll be without a DM. I mean, we could still improvise something with Jordan, but that yellow was quite stupid and Gudelj did some amateur-ish errors today. Him and Rakitic (maybe Oscar and Idrissi to some extent too) are the most out-of-form players that we currently have. Others are doing well in overall, some more and some less.

I think we’ve upped the tempo in the last few games and it clearly benefits the team. But still a bit accident prone and with so much elaborate build-up it’s easy to lose concentration.

Rakitic is just a player who can elect the best ball to play in a situation, it doesn’t mean it’s a great pass, he failed 4 passes today but his good passes were well chosen. It can make a difference in a tight game. Where he fails is that he doesn’t have the ball recuperation that Jordan has, and doesn’t have the pace of Jordan or the workrate either.

I wouldn’t get too worried about YEN it was just one sloppy comment.

I missed this game sadly because i don’t do these early games, but another hat trick from YEN? He’s really picked up form hasn’t he?

Absolutely spot on - and this is the reason I’d like to see him benched and only come on sometime in the second half or so. We don’t need his good passes when they don’t contribute anything meaningful to the game, we need Banega type of passes and a Banega type of player for that position. The worst thing is that fielding Oliver and Jordan is not necessarily better than fielding Oliver and Rakitic or Rakitic and Jordan. Oliver and Jordan are performing better than Rakitic, but we still miss Banega dearly :frowning:

P.S. It’s not that Rakitic isn’t used to the 4-3-3 as he played in that formation with Barca, but he is definitely not adapting to Lope’s specific 4-3-3 as it can have many variations.
