M18: Sevilla FC vs Atlético Madrid [21/22]

Yeah it’s worrying but I’m glad after the Barca game we getting a break from the schedule to try get a few players back. We need the rest. Barca are fortunate to catch us with lots of injuries but thankfully they got a lot too and still aren’t playing great.

Massive win for us against one of the big 3! Thought we really dug in hard in the second half and kept fighting and got the three points. Let’s follow it up now against Barca!

We’re still in the title race for sure and now 8 points clear of Atletico so 2nd at least is looking good!

Ocampos injury has soured things a little, hope he’s okay. No luck with injuries currently which does make our run all the more remarkable!

VAMOS

Not a great performance but what a result that is.

Eventho our play has been lacking, getting so close to a great seasonal run. And finally getting the chance to beat this fcking Barcelona club next week.

I made a promise to my gf in half time, we go on a trip to Sevilla if we won tonight. And goddamn I´m glad we did.

I’d still take a draw with Barca. I hope we can finally beat them though. I just never as confident against them especially with the refs/VAR too.

Just hope we can have 1 last push before the boys and lope have a well earned rest. We on an amazing run. I think this is one of the best starts to a season we ever had. I think after 17 matches we match the start to 2006/2007 season where we had 37 points too.

Performance was nothing special, but it’s good feeling to win at the end. Even Gudelj was really great tonight.

Currently arguing with my Barça friend about this result. He’s calling us Rakitic FC and a Europa League merchant lol

Another big win. Was never gonna be pretty, but we got the 3 points at the end.

Bring on Barça!

To be honest, if you are not a Sevilla fan, there is really hardly anything positive to say from watching our games. Well the first 20 minutes looked fine  and we were effective 2 on target, 2 goals. And we did fight well to keep believing and holding on to a draw most of the game. But then we steal it haha.

If we can beat Barca it really is a dream end to the year. We’d somehow survive this tough run of games with lots of injuries. We would then have nicer games on paper in January and most likely more players back. I honestly feel if we beat Barca or even avoid defeat we look great for at least 2nd this season and hang in the title race. Exciting times ahead. We just need 1 last push and I’m glad we will have Fernando back after a rest.

The main issues are at fullback and on the wings again. Especially after ocampos, montiel and acuna injuries. I guess we go Ludwig and rekik at full backs against Barca. Maybe idrissi comes in on the wing as well.

It’s a shame Real Madrid went on this amazing run of form because if not most normal seasons with the points haul we have currently we’d be top of the table. Still we in a great position and at least put pressure on Real Madrid a bit.

Is there anyone better than a lopetegui Sevilla team at doing that? Haha.

What happened with Ocampos?

What really encourages me is the togetherness in the dressing room. Despite all the injuries, fatigue, tough matches and juggling different competitions we are responding great to each challenge. All the players coming in are doing a great job and the morale is high right now.

We are down to the barebones but the spirit in the camp is amazing. They all playing for each other and the manager. Lope has them all well drilled and they know their roles well. For example I thought gudelj and rekik both had amazing games and they not played that much all all coming into it.

It’s a credit to them all that we in this position. Barca match will be tough due to the injuries, the fact it’s Barca and also the dodgey refs/var. However, I’m still confident we will do a good match no matter what because we in that zone of the never say die attitude and hopefully that sees us to a result. This tough period we having but grinding results out will make us stronger mentality wise.

Kounde was immense again tonight especially going forward and Bono and Carlos rock solid too. We have them fit and playing well and also fernando back for Barca which will shield us well and keep us in the match.

Barca have their problems as well though with form and lots of injuries. That’s good for us and I’m just delighted to finally play them where Messi is finally not lining up against us. That’s big psychologically and the fact we 10 points clear will help our mentality too.

One more push guys! Vamos sevilla!

I’m not sure what the injury is yet just hope he recovers fast. It was sad to see and soured the win a bit. Especially considering how well he’s been playing lately.

Some of Kounde’s passing was a bit ropey.

Yeah I agree in the first half especially it was. 2nd half though he played a blinder.

He apparently had a small knock against his head, which caused dizzyness and he suddenly went to the ground when nothing happened around him. Maybe some sort of concussion, not sure. Have to wait for official news.

Sounds like I missed some real excitement. Was out for three hours at the park with a friend, kinda regret it though. Ended up absolutely drenched in mud, and I missed an exciting game
