Wow this game against Getafe was bad. We only started creating chances from about 80minutes on, and they were subpar at best. Luckily that blitz attack in the very last minute of the game and a fortunate play of circumstances bagged us the 3 points. On top of the table now. But the team has to reflect on this game because we won’t win like this in the future.
But for now, LAMELA back at it again!!! 3 Lamela goals in 90 minutes of playing time.

Disappointed with Navas and Acuna this game. Navas couldn’t cross, while Acuna lost the ball far too easily. Thankfully DC was there to make up for his mistakes.

He is the ‘bank’ himself 
- he’s worth $1.9 billion by the way, and who knows how many more in other assets through other people and who knows what. So RM and Perez have money, they don’t worry about it, they borrow it easily etc.
I was surprised though how a billionaire of his caliber speaks so freely on the phone or on a restaurant/bar table with other people and allows (‘risks’) to be recorded (the latest ‘scandal’ where he badmouthed almost every ex-RM player/manager), no matter how well he knows them - he should know better.

Another text book press conference from Lope.
Elche (just like everyone opponent) are a strong and complex team and it will be hard.
All Champions League groups are though.
Ocampos takes recovery takes longer than we hoped.

Delaney arrived with good fitness, and is available for the game.
There’s really nothing that excites the mind, in a way its football I know. But it’s basically a well spoken and educated robot speaking neutral phrases.
Very respectfull and very good with words is what i’ve seen from the dressing room earlier. I do think he’s a good people manager. And just the way he is as a trainer, is good for stability reasons. There won’t happen anything that’s unexpected kind of. It’s still good for the club, on the other hand, its straight up boring but we know by now.

I love that about lope. He’s very calm and efficient in his pressers. He brings great stability and consistency in the squad performance and results.
Still we know on the touchline he can be the opposite and be box office to watch like Simeone is at Atleti. He’s up and down the touchline barking orders and keeping the team on its toes.
I feel lopetegui does a good job at blending these sides to him well and the team clearly buy in to his man management skills and also tactics.

Well for the press it can be annoying too, but from Lope’s standpoint I get it too. Last one, he just hard ignored the question at hand.
Some question not related to last weeks game but to a side matter:
and He just said:
“Getafe… Getafe! getafe getafe”
After which it was silent for a couple of seconds, and thanked for the press conference and walked away. Lol.

I wanted Atletico to lose but then again I didn’t want Villarreal to gain much confidence and momentum for after the int. break.
The table is good as it is, the only one we can blame is ourselves for not beating Elche and going top.

I think we have to remember it’s not easy to win any game. We were close to beating elche but playing tough defensive teams on tight pitches is never easy. The team still finding its feet and I’m happy with our start.
It’s only the centre back position I’m concerned with now. If we get that sorted with reinforcements or kounde stays we will be in good shape. Barca up next will be tough but it’s a great tie especially with fans back. Barca weren’t great today against getafe so we will certainly have a chance at getting a result.
