I watched them a few times and they got a bit more quality.
I think elche and Alaves our best hope. Elche hitting wall a bit after good start as promoted club and Alaves aren’t very good and always just living down there to just escape.
If Mallorca win later or even draw then only 1 point could separate 18th to us in 12th. It mad! A traffic jam of teams in trouble. It squeaky bum time.
It’s a bitter pill to swallow to hope :poop: gives us a hand and takes points from every team around us. Imagine it would come down to :poop: actually having the chance til decide our fate in the final round…
It does get easier though when you realise that they probably wont win anything of note and their best Seasons will be a couple of 5, 6 and 7-places.
Issue is also that we make it hard for ourselves with these late goals. The Valencia game was practically won and then we let them score in the final moments.
Celta Vigo would have been a ok draw had we not committed a stupid pen in the last minutes.
The game vs Alaves would probably have seen us win if we didnt get a stupid red card.
So many dumb decisions and things against us. This team is better than relegation. Its just a matter of finding out how to actually play to score more goals. We might not be able to play the most beautiful football right now, but we have fight and commitment. That can take you a long way if you find a way to close the games.
This team won 4-1 vs Barca, so its not impossible. I dont Think its sure losses. Anything can happen and if you go out there on the day, and die for the shirt, fly into every tackle, show commitment and hunger, it can work wonders Sometimes its even better than talent. We need to find that edge to make our home like a Living hell.
:poop: helping us out tonight. 0-2 up. The only problem is we play them very soon as ourselves! lol
The worry is we still have the current top 8 all to play again. We have still have to play Osasuna and getafe who 10th and 11th.
10 of our remaining 14 are against better quality opposition.
The 2 home games are against Valencia and Rayo who probably aren’t the worst sides from the struggling pack.
The only games I see as potential bankers now are Oviedo and levante away but knowing us we might mess up in one of them.
I’m worried! We do have some decent players especially in attack but the defence scares me and Almeyda is a bit crazy at times too. We going to be without him on touch line now which might affect us.
The Barca game was early season and new manager bounce. It was probably the worst Barca played in like 20 years too. They were shocking despite a great win for us.
There is a reason we down there and it not just luck. We aren’t a good side. Our fixtures haven’t been the worst lately but we still can’t win.
We conceded 39 goals that is nearly most in league. We are poor and thankfully our attack has saved us from being left a drift.
It a repeat of last season but I felt we had enough points on board to survive despite our late collapse that made it close.
I just don’t trust us to pull clear. If we survive it be by the skin of our teeth again or this time we go under.
For what it’s worth here is the Opta % chance of relegation
Oviedo 92.5%
Levante 74.5
Sevilla 28.1
Elche 27.6
Mallorca 19.7
Girona 17.4
Alaves 16.0
Valencia 9.9
Rayo 7.0
Realistically, the first two of those are sunk so it’s a mad battle between the rest to avoid the remaining spot and I wouldn’t bet on any of them staying up as they’ve all been different shades of bad in a weak La Liga season. Sorry, to say, but yes I think it’s most likely going to be Sevilla, Elche or Mallorca (though would prefer Girona go down.) I was surprised at Rayo, but they have the easiest fixture list left.
With everyone fighting everyone, 42 points would probably just about be enough. 44 to be totally safe. That means Sevilla winning these 6: Rayo, Sociedad, Valencia and Espanyol at home, Levante and Oviedo away. Mess up in any of those and then it’s necessary to get points at Getafe, Osasuna or Celta. The other remaining games are tougher still. (I really wouldn’t want to play title-chasing Real Madrid in the penultimate game, even if at RSP, needing a win.) Survival is doable, but there’s little margin of error and will likely go to last day. Exciting for the neutral but scary for all teams involved.
How is the progress with the rebuild of Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan? Is this season the last to be able to go to the current ground if you wanna Watch a game there or can I make it next season?
Im not really into going to La Catuja to Watch them, as I dont Think it brings the autentic atmosphere.
There will be no work at the RSP for at least the next 2-3yrs as are in a financial mess with their stadium, meaning that the cartuja will be their home for the forseeable future. They are hoping to be out by May 2028. But they are still negotiating with construction companies on who will build the new stand after the old one was demolished last December.
