Unless you’re a top 4 club, you’ll probably drop a match here and there that you would have wanted to win. It’s ok. It’s just one match and the club looks to be trending in a much better direction. Not to mention the debt has been heavily reduced. We’re in a pretty good spot all things considered. I expect us to end mid table and next year we’ll be in a great place to improve and push forward for europe
I missed the game but seems we battled well again. The manager probably made too many changes at once. It cost us tonight but I guess he trying to show he got faith in more of the squad when they need to be called upon due to tiredness or injury.
Disappointed that we lost but still we are looking better than last season. 7 points from 18 still not a tragedy considering our main aim is survival. We need to try and respond and get something at Rayo now.
Vamos mi Sevilla!!
It’s not about that. No one is expecting us to win all the matches, but also no one is expecting us to throw the matches just like that.
We don’t have the luxury to keep 5-6 starters on the bench.
Not starting with one of Mendy or Agoume in the midfield is simply criminal.
Not subbing off a super-rusty and tired Akor is a very bad sign for a coach.
Heavy rotation for us should mean resting 2-3 starters max. A logical and more natural limit is at 2.
5+ is just joking around and insulting the fans.
Sorry but I can’t accept this mediocrity.
Not calling for Almeyda’s head or anything as I like him as a coach so far and the team play is definitely improving. However, this was a super negative sign and we can’t just be ok with it and be like ‘tough luck, another time’.
This match was absolutely winnable. Totally 100% winnable with smarter subs and a stronger starting lineup.
We won’t be able to say the same in less than 2 weeks vs Barca.
Positive. Januzaj our best player before he had to retire
Negative . Adams complete waste of a shirt tonight. Should have been subbed for Isaac at half time.
Plus it was a missed opportunity to keep the much needed momentum and build on that after beating Alaves away.
We had a lot to gain and not much to lose, yet the coach made sure we wouldn’t have a real chance on gaining anything tonight.
I would defend Adams as his aerial ability was a threat, it’s just a shame that he can’t time his jumps. His flick-on setup the goal.
I’d like to see Adams and Isaac play together to see whether they can build a partnership in the style of YEN & Isaac.
This was a tough loss, I genuinely thought the team deserved at least a point from this game. I can understand why some of you are annoyed at Almeyda’s changes, but I liked that he gave some of the other squad members a game when they arguably had nothing to lose against a much better team (on paper at least).
This new era isn’t going to be a quick process and a return to glory overnight. Patience is required when building a largely new team from scraps and canteras.
I don’t think we’re going to be in danger this year, but I also don’t think we’re winning anything for some time. We have the lowest wage budget in the league, so clearing the debt and slowly building something good is what we should aim for & expect.
Didn’t watch the game last night but sounds like we played okay again and were unlucky not to come away with a draw. Probably too many changes cost us and yet another injury to Nianzou.
All in all though 7 points from 6 isn’t too bad considering our main aim is survival. That point’s trajectory should keep us up.
Let’s get a result at Rayo now and we’ve been better away from home so we have a chance.
That is now 13 home games and 1 win in 2025
When will we see our next win at home?
Home form needs to be a lot better.
Barca up next isn’t ideal to change that.
RSP is not a fortress anymore. Any team with a bit of seriousness comes and gets points here nowadays, sadly.
I dunno, I think that’s statistically true, but. But! I think the RSP was the 12th man vs Villarreal, or to be clear, after the Nianzou disaster, the 11th man.
Would love the perspective of @Brian who made it to the RSP, but from the TV coverage, it really felt like the second half the RSP was a roaring lion and definitely helped take Villarreal out of the game for a bit.
No the fans are great… atmosphere is amazing and everything, definitely the 12th man backing the team.
But the players on the other hand… they simply don’t care as much as in the past. The Nunca Se Rinde mentality is slowly fading because of the constant poor management the club has endured throughout the years.
The atmosphere was great for a while after we scored, just like the old days. Then picked up again for the last 10mins.
Nice to see the players getting a standing ovation at the end even after the loss, rather than chants against the board.
