We look like relegation fodder.

We are in big trouble this season.

I really fear the same.. last year was very bad.. nil points in 2 games is an absolute disaster

Deserved loss! We are pathetic. Bordalas tactics are awful to face but they were better. A seismic loss and we in big trouble folks!

Girona is literally must win as don’t fancy our chances against Elche, alaves or Villarreal after.

Lukebakio looked like a player leaving to me. He didn’t look bothered.

I hate to say it but because we this bad, we probably could do with someone like Bordalas! He improves defences. Our defence is terrible but Bordalas is good for relegation fights. Awful football but getafe don’t care.

First game Sevilla at least showed some fight in the second half but the only luke that turned up for Sevilla this game was lukewarm football with Getafe more up for it and winning more 50/50 balls. 72% Sevilla possession and tonight was a classic example of why that’s an overrated stat. Getafe didn’t care, they were happy to rope-a-dope their way to a win. Defence and Nyland especially look an accident waiting to happen and attack poorly coordinated. Maybe the new players will turn it around, there’s still a long way to go.

We look worse than last season and if lukebakio leaves I am very scared.

We lost our best defender and might lose our best attacker.

This board will do nothing about it either. We got a week left but these sales are mainly to cover debt, salary cap and register players. We can’t afford anyone good so probably a loan or free agent we target if anything at all.

I was half watching the game while working, it wasn’t an inspiring performance.

I still think there’s a lot of room for improvement and because of that I’m not fearing for this team (yet). Ok so it’s not good to have 0 points after two games, but Atleti are only on one point in 13th, if we get more players registered & do some wheeling and dealing then there’s still hope for this season to not be as bad as the last (I hope :folded_hands:t4:) .

I know it’s not been the summer & start to the season we’d hoped for but let’s have some of that nunca se rinde spirit for at least a few weeks more!

You know I think we have to start appreciating how well Pimienta did with this poor squad of players. He somehow got us to 36 points before getting sacked. Caparros didn’t get many points after what just 1 win.

It funny because Las Palmas sacked him after just avoiding relegation as he finished badly. They then went down last season. The same thing could happen with us. Maybe keeping Las Palmas up and having us above drop zone before getting sacked were great achievements?

I know many were frustrated with Pimienta at times but he did make us more solid, better in possession and got the maximum out of lukebakio too. It a case of careful what you wish for. We will see what happens.

I think you’re right.

I am going to reserve judgement until the transfer window closes and see what happens with selling, registering and bringing in any new players.

That could strengthen us and give a different complexion. Never easy to judge too much at the start of the season as squads are likely to be considerably different in some circumstances. It is very early in the season and a long way to go yet. Girona, Elche and Alaves coming up are all winnable games.

Right now, we are at the bare bones. As were Getafe but like or loathe him Bordelas had a game plan that worked.

One crucial thing that I noted in the match last night is that Getafe players were all average, except maybe for Luis Milla who played very good and that young guy Liso.

The others were running a lot (lots of cramps near the end of the match), pushing, shoving, tackling, fighting… so putting a lot of effort in overall.

Our players often looked bloodless on the pitch.

Maybe it’s time to change the strategy and adapt to the modern game? Get average players or slightly below, who can run and fight all game long.

We don’t need ballerinas and slow-mo super low IQ bastards.

We need fighters. Suazo was a huge loss in both these matches as he’s a fighter.

Carmona is not a fighter. Juanlu is not a fighter. I really can’t think of anyone who really fights and gives 100%, blood and sweat on the pitch for the almighty Sevilla shirt.

Gudelj tries to fight sometimes, but he’s so below average and super low IQ it’s not even funny.

We need fighters… players who give 100%. Fuck the ballerinas! If Lukebakio has decided to be a ballerina this season, then fuck him too. Give us Bryan Gil instead!

Even if we go down… which is highly likely given the poor start and how things are standing with the catastrophic squad planning so far (thanks Corndog!), we should at least go down fighting!

Not chickening out… for fuck’s sake!

Also I hope we can register Vlacho and see what he’s made of.

Nyland is totally unreliable. He saves some, but then concedes some stupid goals due to poor positioning like the second one vs. Getafe.

A professional goalkeeper simply can’t concede a goal like that, in his own side that he’s supposed to protect 100%.

We don’t have a reliable goalkeeper between the posts - and that’s causing a lot of issues.

Mixed reactions are definitely understandable. I think the team can still compete in the league, but the squad’s talent seems pretty weak, especially without the new additions being officially registered. It’s also probably tough on the players to hear fans yelling at the box after any kind of letdown, like the first goal. That’s a moment when the players need motivation, not a display of frustration toward a situation that likely won’t change soon.
While losing Juanlu would be a shame, it seems like a necessary move that needs to happen quickly.

I thought Getafe’s second was a decent finish. Well taken. First goal it took a deflection and he could do very little.

I do agree that he’s inconsistent though and we have nothing to lose by trying out Vlacho.

Juanlu is a player I rate but one we probably need to move on for financial reasons. The idea of getting rid of Lukebakio would be suicide in my opinion. Even if he’s not been at his best so far, he’s easily our most talented player and is key to our survival chances.

I’m afraid we are in that much in financial ruin the reports saying we desperate to sell him. We been unable to sell carmona or Juanlu so far.

We in so much debt, salary cap issues, can’t register players even before we look to sign anyone. The reports are all saying Sevilla are desperate to sell Lukebakio to any club that wants him. Dodi is open to the move too.

He probably the only good player we can get some money for to clear some debt, just about survive financially and register players. Even with that at best we can probably only buy 1 player or loan someone. All that to try to do in 6 days.

I can’t believe every window now for last few seasons is disastrous planning. We used to run things well and now we one of the worst in Europe and world for running a football club.

It is a train wreck!

I think the first goal was symptomatic of the wider problems. Getafe put in a tame and harmless cross that should have been easy to deal with. But CastrĆn is inexperienced and only thrown into the line-up because the BadĆ© replacement isn’t available yet so he leaves it. Juanlu and Nyland instead of dealing with it stare at each other. While they hesitate, a Getafe player steals in and forces an unnecessary corner. Then from the corner, Vargas is the only player available to do deal with a short corner and they get a shot in. In cases like that, to avoid an overload, you need an extra man in the box who isn’t really marking anyone and who can go out to help deal with that. Basic coaching and preparation. That’s the other problem, in 34 months, Sevilla have had 8 managers. No surprise the players are all over the place due to having to adapt all the time. So among other things, the club needs to be patient with Almeyda, who has decent experience, instead of getting trigger happy if there are some bad results.

Also, while it won’t happen, I think La Liga clubs should insist that the transfer window close before the first game. It’s massive BS that clubs play their 3rd game still without a settled squad. English clubs and the richer elite clubs (all 3 of them in Spain) can handle that and get business done early, but it’s a huge handicap for everyone else.

Great post @JohnV. It is really weird that clubs aren’t fully finalized by MD1. Is there another sport that is similar? I can’t think of one.

So just to keep conversation going. Djibril Sow was a last minute scratch from the team’s plans. How much do you think that adjustment had in Almeyda’s match plans. Would he have made a difference if healthy?

Would have made a difference having Sow, the midfield was where the team was overrun badly, with too many gaps, he’d have helped close the gaps between lines.
