La Liga 24/25 Matchday 18 - Sevilla FC at Real Madrid

GP is fielding Gudelj as CB over and over again, expecting a different result in defense. Plus, he’s giving him the captain’s armband.

By Einstein’s definition of insanity, which I strongly support, GP can be considered INSANE.

You can’t expect much from an insane coach… That he all of a sudden can make things work in defense.

Tienes Cojones Lukebakio madre mía, he went for the near post which was clamped down by Courtois and sneaked it in, genious at work, Sevilla need to design play for this marksman.

Lukebakio making the scoring line look respectful.

Management wants to sell him…

At least we kept the scoreline respectable. We were never likely to get anything from the game.

We still go into the New Year comfortably in mid-table and not too far from the European places which is better than the past few seasons. Some signs of progress.

We are a club in transition and it will take time to get back to where we were.

I think that has to be remembered before we are too harsh on the team.

Then we should sell the management first, January 10th they might get voted down.

Yeh, we’re OK for the moment and we look like we’re forging something of a team, but we need to take care of defence and sort that out. An ounce of stupidity undoes a tonne of good work.

Agreed. Defence is the biggest issue.

Gudelj is a liability and not a centre back. Marcao should be playing if he can stay fit which is the issue.

We absolutely must not sell Lukebakio as he is by far our best player and it would show a complete lack of ambition.

Navas had a bit of a free role, he was there in his place but was getting involved in the attacks soon after coming on the field. Badé made a couple of classy controls where he killed long balls dead but he was out of place in the first goal, like everyone else. I’m not sure Marcáo is the answer for Gudelj, we really should buy in the winter market, even if it means robbing the nearest bank, just scrape the money together and fudge the finances like the top clubs do.

Is this supposed to be a match analysis, or what?

Insane coach is insane… In the worst meaning.

Didn’t see the match but caught the highlights. It nice we scored a couple of goals and looked a threat. Unfortunately their quality and firepower exposed our weak defence. We move though and still Sevilla in an okay position. We will see what happens in 2025, January window and also in the shareholders meeting. A big few weeks coming.

It all depends if del nido senior can finally vote. This is his best chance unless the current board have come up with something new to block him. If not del nido senior might be president again which would change the landscape and the direction of club. We will see.

Unfortunately he’s not. His presence helps, but he’s lost a step (or two). For me, Nianzou was the only hope if he could stay fit, and get as many minutes so he can improve his play. His thigh injury has kept him out so long that it just may be time to find another CB on the market. At least on a 6-mo loan to hold us over till the summer.

As a Sevilla coach, it should be against club policy to write off any match before it’s over.

He’s making it sound like we played well or some similar crap. Insulting the fans’ intelligence.

Nothing about the defensive fragility. He should ‘grow a pair’ and say: I don’t have a fucking defense! Bring me at least an average defender or release me from this prison!

This is a coach that I’d respect. Not this wanker who constantly fields and gives the captain armband to a low-IQ player that knows NOTHING about being a center back.

Heck, even the likes of Ballesteros (Levante, ex-player) are prime Maldini-s compared to Gudelj. Gudelj is very below average, it hurts to see.

The moment you have fielded Gudelj at CB against a club like RM, you have written the game off instantly… and that should be against club policy too. That is… if this unserious club has any policy that is being enforced.

Oh how people turn on players when things don’t go well. I remember times the last two seasons when people loved and praised Gudelj. Is he a CB? Of course not. That’s not his position.

I’m not a fan of attacking players in general. They’re people like you and I. But there’s even less of a reason to attack a player for playing poorly when he’s put in a position he doesn’t play.

We’ve had an issue with defense since Koundé and Diego Carlos left and it hasn’t been sufficiently addressed. None of the coaches the last 3 years have been able to fix it with the lack of talent acquisition we’ve had at that position. Let’s not forget that it’s the management and off the field issues that have gotten us to where we are.

Agreed.

Knee-jerk over the top quite frankly insulting statements like below aren’t very helpful or constructive. And it’s not the first time the user in question has been culpable and is probably the worst offender on here for it.

“Bunch of pathetic amateurs. This club is finished…”

I’ve always thought it’s important not to overreact to one defeat or one win for that matter. When the defeat is away from home to Real Madrid who we have not beat at their ground for 16 years, that is even more the case.

The club is going through a transition and it will take time and patience to get back to where we once were. In the meantime it’s important that we continue our support as it’s more important than ever right now. The mark of being a true fan is supporting their club in the bad times as well as the good.

If you’re referring to me, I’m not attacking the player.

If you think that Gudelj is a good player, in any position, then that’s a football understanding issue. I know what Gudelj is capable of and the reality is that he is a below average player, in the sport of football.

For other sports, I can’t tell.

I am attacking GP, our beloved coach, who is fielding him in the wrong position firstly, then believing him to the point that he has regular minutes, all the while that Gudelj is constantly one of the worst performers in the current team.

PLUS + GP made him a captain. Not much can be said about Gudelj’s leadership skills.

I know (and we all do) all about the management issues etc. - for which I constantly raise the voice, and would even like to see radical steps being taken by the fans on this regard.
