Congrats to Barca!

So, while far from glorious (and mostly inglorious!), we are still nearly on track for Rene’s benchmark. However, the likelihood of a 40 point team being relegated is looking greater by the day, but all you need is two of the bottom half teams to lose a few winnable games and 40 looks safe again.

In any case, Sampaoli is hitting the 1.1 mark, just barely, but still an improvement over what Lopetegui hauled in his first couple month (also, barely). A moral defeat yesterday, but just gotta keep fighting tooth and nail.

We’ll make it.

PS - Firing Sampaoli is nonsense at this point. I suspect Castro and Del Nido Jr cancelled their trip because promoting Sevilla in USA and Mexico becomes significantly less of a smart investment when the team your promoting is fighting relegation. I personally don’t think they’re on the verge of firing Sampaoli.

He’s sacked?

Awww :pensive:… I really feel sorry for him because of the situation with the club and all that, but if the management thought this was the best decision at this time then so be it.

They made a lot of mistakes already and let’s see what’s next now. Caparros, Bordalas or Manolo fucking Jimenez?

If we go down it’ll be on the management 100%.

VAMOS!

El Sevilla ya negocia por Mendilibar

Not sure how I feel about the rumored coaches. The only one that would make sense for what is left in the season is Caparros… and we all know why.

It’s not much about the tactics as it is about passion and fighting spirit now - and Caparros can instill a hell lot of that!

Hoping the rumor is wrong, but Alberto Fernández is a relatively credible source…

Oh man. I really hoped it would work at least to the end of the season. If this means less money to spend on upgrading the team, I think it’s the wrong move.

It all depends on things we don’t really know anything about though: is it just a wrong fit with the current players? Sampi and Monchi on two totally different pages? Sampi has given up? Will the replacement secure us a 100% win ratio? If so, then maybe it makes sense.

But I feel bad for Sampi. And our reputation as a club has taken yet another beating imo.

From another usually reliable source.

@FabrizioRomano

Sevilla are set to sack Jorge Sampaoli in the next hours, confirmed — board now already working on new coach to be appointed Sampaoli joined Sevilla in October but he’s now set to leave the club with José Mendilibar as favorite, as Spanish media reported.

Oh boy, panicking mode has been entered…
This is exactly the mess I was worried about that would happen when we kept on stalling it out with Lope.

And so basically, indecisiveness and bad planning, and the apparent lack of money? Leads to us wasting 20+ m on managers alone. That’s a controversial financial strategy.

According to estadio deportivo Papu is on his way out.
“Sevilla and the player will try to reach an agreement today for the separation”

Better to be out than in and not contributing anything to the team - unnecessary drama like the case with Argentina NT celebration invitation and all that…

Thank you Papu, but you never really fought for the shirt and always played with the ‘superstar’ badge in the pitch. Bye!

So, first incoming news from the international break:

Bryan Gil left the camp of the Spanish National Team after not being able to fully exercise due to muscular pain.

I’m crossing my fingers that this was purely precautionary and/or Gil went to the coach and said “hey, these matches are unimportant for the national team, but I’ve really gotta be in good form to close up the season with Sevilla.”

Somehow, I doubt that latter story would happen in Spain, but in any case, the good news is that it means another critical team member gets a bit of rest before Cádiz et al.

Wanted to see your views on this, Vieira hasn’t been the most successful of coaches but Crystal Palace just faced a tough bunch of opponents, and getting Hodgson back… well.

Pape Gueye now injured and has left the Senegal squad after an mri scan to return to Sevilla.

If it wasn’t for bad luck, we would have no luck at all

Saw the highlights of the Morocco vs. Brazil match. Bono has unfortunately become very prone to errors lately. Hopefully that doesn’t mean a confidence issue and thankfully we have Dmitrovic in top form. However, we’ll need Bono for the league matches as he’s the undisputed starter and mistakes like those he did lately with us or against Brazil last night could be costly for us.

After 27 games we finally get all players back in training, Papu, Rekik and Marcáo being the latest to wave bye-bye to the doctors.
