EURO 2020 and COPA AMERICA 2021

Denmark through to the quarters with an amazing performance vs. Wales. Total thrashing 4-0!

Up next Italy vs. Austria - expecting Italy to go through.

Beautiful goal from Chiesa, those first touches with head and right foot, to get it perfect for his left one. Perfect

Austria did fight well, but Italy’s incredible squad depth decided the result.

A bummer for Croatia as Ivan Perisic resulted positive for Covid19. He’s going to be quarantined for 10 days so that means he will only be available again if Croatia potentially reaches the final. Not sure if he can get back to action if he results negative in the follow up tests, but he will 100% miss the tie vs. Spain as reported.

Czech Republic through, deservedly so. Netherlands didn’t have anything to show for and this could very well be the worst Netherlands in a long long time. Going from legends like Van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Bergkamp, Kluivert, Robben, Van Persie or the absolute legend Johan Cruyff, to amateur spoiled likes of Depay, Malen, Promes and co. where their best current no.9 striker is probably LDJ… imagine that! Absolutely terrible and a huge pity for Netherlands, but it is what it is and hopefully they will improve for the WC 2022 in Qatar at least, if not, then for the many years to come.

Coming up next, Belgium vs. Portugal. I’m rooting for Belgium in this one.

Credits to Czechs, their defense was rock solid, I also appreciated how bold they went up the pitch too…and their team is has some good players from Slavia Prag who does well at UEL consistently.

Netherlands team is too fragile. when things go wrong their psychology drops so quickly…Even we (Turkey) won against them scoring 4 goals 3 months ago…

Turkey has done very well in those first couple of games for WC qualifiers - their performance in Euro 2020 was a total surprise.

Unai Simon with an absolute howler. Concedes the 9th own goal this tournament

Good that they equalize before half time, could have become a really annoying game. I think Spain take it from here.

Sarabia should just come on back home to Sevilla.

Good thing Sarabia decided to shoot in that position, the rest of the team seem to pass the ball around indefinitely…

If Sarabia gets injured, Spain are finished.

They were observed to be the worst squad on penalties a couple of decades ago, and the verdict was lack of confidence and/or psychological block. I don’t know what their modern record is.

I feel, those are things from a different generation. And blown up by the media, and it becomes a thing they started to believe in. Latest ones don’t struggle at all. Since it’s all about preparation and practice. And with Tim Krul as a goalie, they had a winning reputation some years back.

Credits to Morata with a great game, working incredibly hard and finally getting the shit out of the way. Good Recovery!

Yup sounded questionable at first, but he played well when they needed him for Ajax, after Onana and the doping affair. Cillesen honestly is a kitchentool goalie as well, there was Zoet, playing little for bottom dwelling Serie A team Spezia. Krul in the Championship.

Also I don’t think the goalie is the point of discussion in the end. Whole team issue, thinking they are better than they are, altho having talent, it’s no guarentee and they were praised too much, nationally too. Probably some underestimating of the Czech squad who actually played a solid game to challenge Holland and deseverdly punished them.

For the future they have Justin Bijlow, most promising one for the future. Could become a big one.

I think Stekelenburg was oldest player, just 38 tho, for a goalie we have seen worse. But Modric at 35 still almost carrying Croatia into a miracle run. Age really is just a number and for no player its the same.

Bit of a ding-dong game between France and Switzerland with the Swiss equalizing 3-3 in minute 90. The way it’s going either team could nick it in injury time.

I always knew that one day, either Switzerland or Austria would have an attractive game LOL
