Well that is a crummy way to deal with a guy that got you back to the top flight. I’m really surprised La Real’s manager wasn’t first. He will be soon if things don’t change.

Since I often tend to remember the spring/summer part of a season more than the fall/winter, I figured i’d make this poll of the (almost) first half of the season as to make sure both halves will count equally. Which player has so far been the signing of the season?

  • Mendy
  • Alfon
  • Suazo
  • Cardoso
  • Azpi
  • Alexis
  • Odysseas
  • Manu Bueno
  • Ramón Martínez
  • Castrin

Vlachodimos I think has been the most impactful signing. Azpi & Suazo fall slightly behind in second & third in my eyes, both let down by injuries.

I went with Mendy, although it was really tough for me between him and Vlachodimos. Mendy, to me, provides something that we didn’t have in the midfield and was desperately needed. His minutes have piled up as a result; however, the same exact thing can be said about the Greek.

My choice was Mendy also. As Chris said, he gives us something else in midfield.

Vlachodimos, Suazo and Azpi have all done well also.

None of our signings have been bad to be fair and have improved us from last season!

I also had Azpi in second…interesting that everyone seems to agree that while he may not be revolutionary, Azpi is an essential improvement in defense

I went back and reviewed my predictions…unfortunately I am too close to hitting the mark. Only missing the top portion with Bilbao and :poop: by one spot. For the bottom of the table we are currently 17th and I had us at 18th. It does not seem to be out of the question for this to happen. I pray we stay up, but am even more pessimistic about the remaining matches

Same but right now we in the relegation zone. We have to do it ourselves to get out. Scary times!

Inspired by @jdecourcey ‘s question, I’m definitely eating humble pie on my 10th place finish projection, although it’s still technically feasible, we’ll see where that lands. But without further ado, I had AI try to project the final scoring of the predictions and what points are already in the bag, so here goes:

*****

The data has been scraped, the hallucination engines have been fired up, and the totally objective, completely infallible AI adjudication of Monchi’s Men is ready.

Here is the exact scoring methodology applied to the thread’s madness:

The League Table: 1 point for every correct team in the Top 6 (unordered) and Bottom 3 (unordered).

The Exact Placements: 1 point for nailing Sevilla or :poop:’s exact final position, with 0.5 points for being within one spot.

The Hardware: 1 point each for correct Cup winners, Top Scorers, Best Player, and Best Signing.

The Prop Bets: 1 point each for correctly guessing the Marcao/Nianzou over/under, the third kit count, manager sackings, foreign games, and all the auxiliary questions.

:money_bag: “Already Bagged” Points (The Locked Standings)

We don’t need to wait until May to hand out a few points. These are mathematically secured as of Matchday 30:

The Marcao & Nianzou Ironmen Award: By September 12, the duo miraculously smashed through the 2-hour combined threshold. +1 Point to literally everyone who submitted a full ballot (RyanMoore, jdecourcey, Mark_L, Edinho, ChrisLail, Niller, keepingitrealistic). Not a single person dared to vote ‘No’.

The First Sacking: Paunović was officially bounced from Oviedo in early October. +1 Point to RyanMoore and Edinho for correctly diagnosing that impending disaster. Niller’s guess of “the one from Levante” and ChrisLail’s swing at Sergio Francisco are officially busts.

Current Locked Leaderboard:

RyanMoore: 2 pts

Edinho: 2 pts

The Field: 1 pt

(Note: The “Third Kit” usage hit 4 back in January. If it stays exactly there, RyanMoore and ChrisLail will lock another point, but the season isn’t over yet.)

:crystal_ball: Projected Final Standings (The Likely Finish)

If we project the current Matchday 30 reality out to the end of the season—with Barça and Real Madrid locking down the top, Sevilla hovering miserably around 15th, and Mbappé pacing the scoring charts—here is how the final analytics shake out:

1. Edinho (~14.5 Projected Points) Edinho is the current heavy favorite for the crown. Nailing the Paunović sack provided an early edge, and his Top 6 (Barça, RM, Atleti, Villarreal, :poop:, Real Sociedad) and Bottom 3 (Girona, Levante, Oviedo) are tracking extremely well. His prediction of 11th for Sevilla might be slightly too optimistic, but having Mbappé as top scorer gives him an incredibly high floor.

2. RyanMoore (~13.5 Projected Points) Tied for the lead in the clubhouse right now, but dragged down by start-of-season optimism. Predicting a 10th place finish for Sevilla is mathematically bleeding points right now, and betting on Lukébakio as the club’s top scorer might require a late-season miracle. However, the comprehensive Top 6 picks and banking on Mbappé keeps the overall score highly competitive.

3. keepingitrealistic (~13 Projected Points) The ultimate dark horse. Living up to the username, the prediction of a 16th place finish for Sevilla is looking terrifyingly accurate right now (worth a full point if they drop one spot, or 0.5 if they stay 15th). Combining that bleak realism with a solid Top 6 and Bottom 3 gives this ballot massive late-season upside.

4. Mark_L (~11.5 Projected Points) A masterclass in hedging. The internal battle of initially predicting 18th and then aggressively revising it to 17th might actually pay off with partial points. The core table predictions are solid, but relying on Vargas as the club’s best player and top scorer is dragging down the projection.

5. Niller (~11 Projected Points) The thread’s founder is suffering from a few wild swings. Missing the first manager sacked hurts, and banking on Rayo Vallecano as the Conference League winner and surprise package is likely going to yield zero points. Still, a perfectly acceptable Top 6 and a relatively measured 12th place prediction for Sevilla keeps the total respectable.

6. jdecourcey (~9.5 Projected Points) The absolute bedrock of pessimism. The prediction of an 18th place relegation finish for Sevilla felt hyperbolic in August but is uncomfortably close to reality in April. The total score ceiling is severely capped by not participating in the extended prop questions, but there is a strange, sad validation in how accurate the negative vibes were.
