World Cup 2026! North America!

Nyland having the game of his life against Brazil!

There is a good keeper there. Shame we didn’t see it more.

So much love for him… Wish he could have a best day

Never saw Nyland perform like that… Probably the best match in his career. He’s crap otherwise.

Just read that he’s heading to Feyenoord, not bad.

Was a Norway fan vs. Brazil though. I love their playing style, their fans and wish them good luck in the quarters.

MOTM as far as I’m concerned. He was incredible.

Funny how France seems to be empty, even though at one point half our team seemed to be from France. Tremoulinas, Adil Rami, Nasri, WBY, Gameiro, NZonzi, Corchia, Carole, Kolodziecak (or however you write it), Lenglet, MBia and such. So one could expect at least one lone fan from France, right?

Pretty sobering stuff for us Americans to chew on for the next four years.

I was cheering for the US (though I couldn’t stay up to watch the match until 4am). Belgium didn’t even deserve to pass Senegal… but here they are now, even though their ‘golden generation’ is long gone.

As for the Balogun red card situation, Infantino and Trump - it only shows that ALL rules can be bent when needed and also shows specifically how certain rules were bent for the likes of Real Bitchdrid and Bitchelona not only in La Liga, but also in UEFA competitons (Uncle Perez bribed his way through at least 2 of them).

UEFA President crying about FIFA breaking the rules is super … extremely ironic.

All it takes is a phone call sometimes… you never know!

What a finish to that Argentina - Egypt game! Two greats of the modern game, Messi & Salah, were facing off to stay in their last world cup and boy were there twists & turns!

Fantastic game, heartbreak for Egypt & Mo Salah, once again Argentina ran out 3-2 winners.

Montiel even made a brief cameo.

If you missed it, I highly recommend you watch it on your local catch-up service

That was a great game. Egypt did well to make the most of their counter attacks. Their goalie had several great saves in the first half, including stopping a pen from Messi. The last bit of the second half Argentina turned it on. It was nice to see the emotion from the players following the game. They knew they dodged a bullet. Egypt played well. Good on them.

Nyland didn’t look too good on that England second goal. Which really sums up his time with us: had some decent games, good distribution with the ball, but also had some real stickers.

I will take it! We into the semis! :face_with_tongue:

That second one was too bad. But he saved their asses many times. On the whole I think most would agree he had a very good world cup

I hate seeing a team lose off a fumble like that. Similar to Belgium’s loss.

On the bright side, we’re blessed with a classic England v Argentina matchup. :face_savoring_food:

Also, about the Swiss v Argentina game, how did y’all feel about VAR using the “mistaken identity” claim to dismiss Paredes’ yellow, and grant Embolo a 2nd yellow for the dive?

For me, i’m glad whenever a player is punished for diving, and it should happen more often. But the way VAR intervened didn’t seem correct. I didn’t think “mistaken identity” included giving a decision the other way.
