Welcome Mr Pepper

Found an interesting editorial about this whole spectacle:

“In this case, everything has been done backwards. If they wanted to show strength, the only thing they achieved is to show weakness in the face of criticism: if they wanted the coach to feel the trust of the board, the only thing they achieved is to make him think where I have gotten myself into; if they wanted to show determination, the only thing that is clear is that Sevilla is being led by impulses. From a single person. The one who
gives the orders. Its president.”

This thread never took off, but I suppose we need a post mortem chart by @sterusebn

I’m feeling really torn. The last stretch of matches was literally our hardest stretch of the season, I think. Had we gotten a single draw, I think GP would have been saved. I know there’s a lot of doubt in his style and tactics, but I’m not a tactics guy, so I all I see in his firing right now is continuing lack of continuity and another season wherein the begining of the season is screwed because we’ll have a new coach, new players, probably even new formation, at the beginning of the season. That’s been our trend since Lopetegui…we get into a rut early in the season and then are digging out all season long.

I get the fear of Relegation, it’s no joke. But now I’m feeling more worried about next season than this season. All we need is one victory, maybe two, to escape relegation.

Breaking news

Sevilla will start again after firing Pimienta. Can’t blame them, they couldn’t risk what happened to Las Palmas last season.

I hope they have a candidate in mind and are able to get them in asap. All that business last year going for Jagoba Arrasate after he had a verbal agreement with Mallorca just made us look foolish.

I wanted GP to have time to build a new team, but it never felt like he was developing the players into a cohesive unit with a clear playing style.

So now he’s gone and Caparros is back (again), partly I’m guessing to get the fans onside.

If next season we lose one or two of Bade, Ejuke, Juanlu or Lukebakio, the next coach is going to have one hell of a job keeping this group of players out of relegation trouble.

I’m hoping the new manager is from out with La Liga, some experience outside of Spain might be useful for bringing in new players and a more evolved style of play.

We lost the last 4 games of season 23-24, against Villarreal, Cádiz, Athletic and Barca. Couldn’t even beat Cádiz at home. Don’t want to see anything similar. The RSP should be a fortress with Caparrós in charge.

And that’s what it will be! CAPARROS will be in charge until the end of the season!

Good riddance. That coach was very underwhelming. Granted, there was a run of a matches where we only lost to the top teams, and didn’t give to much away to anyone lesser. But the game away to Real Sociedad, who had Europe on their minds, was the only good performance this season.

I think we’ll be good with just 1 more win under Caparros. I hope to see fringe players like Juanlu, Peque, and even Idumbo get a better look into the team.

And used properly!

The right decision, we haven’t looked at all convincing this year, its not just the manager, we gone so far backwards in all aspects of the club and football quality, we need a proper root and branch structure and strategy to assemble a quality squad again, and like Tim said make the RSP a fortress again..Vamos Sevilla..

I think this is the right call.

We’ve not been fully convincing all season and things have especially gone down the pan in recent weeks. I feel the players never fully adapted to his style and we don’t have the team for it.

Hopefully Caparros can give us a little boost in his latest stint and we can do what’s necessary to put any relegation fears to bed starting with Alaves next up.

However it is a short-term fix. Hope a new manager is being lined up though asap and big changes needed on and off the pitch and some stability, or even if we scrape over the line this season as has been the case for a few seasons now, one year maybe next we actually could go down.

I can get the chart posted later tonight. For now, here’s my two cents…

I have a lot of thoughts about this move, but I can’t really articulate any of them. This club has fallen so far that I kind of just shrug my shoulders and move on with my day. I watch them, but I don’t ever expect a positive result.

Now we’re throwing Caparrós back onto the bench. It’s like this club is devoid of ideas and innovation. The light has gone out, and we’re basically treading water and holding on to our glory days.

It wasn’t that long ago that we were leading the league…I was last in Spain at that point. What happened?

I don’t blame the manager though as the blame lies entirely with this board.

I felt he did okay with what he had. We lost 4 in a row against tough opposition and we gave all 4 teams a game. We on 36 points and nearly safe which I consider a bit miraculous considering the shit at club.

No manager can work under this board and that is the problem.

Not with this board and these average players. Gone are the days of fortress RSP. Nothing is going to change and we won’t become a feared club of past until these useless leaders leave.

All I hope is we get a short term boost to finish season in okay fashion. Then we have to see what happens in summer.

I feel the same mate.I feel caparros should have said no.

They just using him as a shield to try deflect the pressure and insults from fans.

Some might disagree but I think Pimienta did well to have us on 36 points. We are an average/poor side bar lukebakio on a good day.

Changing the manager isn’t going to do much but we will stay up due to being nearly safe and the rubbish teams below keeping us afloat. The only saving grace is we will escape relegation but that feels the only aim right now until the worse happens one season.

I just want the old Sevilla back. The one with life, soul and a fear factor. It not happening until we get big changes. I hope they happen soon.

To be fair Mark I agree with your assessment, given the players we have, to get to 36 points is a minor miracle really, I dont think many other managers would have achieved this..

Here’s the chart. Looking at it leaves me even more perplexed. Garcia Pimienta wasn’t the greatest manager in the world, but he had us in a very respectable position all things considered prior to this four game skid against some very tough competition.

I totally agree. I think if we put into perspective the average squad he had, players signed that didn’t suit his style and an incompetent sporting director and board he done decent.

We have to be realistic where we are but under pimienta we rarely got embarrassed and hung in a lot of games. We obviously didn’t win enough but at least we remained competitive.

Until the 4 straight losses we were on a decent run of not losing much in 2025 with some big away wins.

The home form been poor since the turn of year but the atmosphere at RSP didn’t help him or players and we have players set up better to counter attack teams.

Pimienta’s style was to control the ball but he realised he didn’t have the players. To his credit he did change his system and style of player to try get more results and it worked better,

I just feel it harsh and silly to sack him considering for most the season he had the vote of confidence from board and they extended his contract quickly.

You just never know what this board will do next and they just in a loop of hiring and firing. They firefighting to just keep us up and no long term plan.

I wish him all the best wherever he goes next.

I believe the only reason they sacked him was to try calm down the fans. If the fans weren’t kicking off as badly I don’t believe he’d have gone. They needed to try blame it on someone so they did this to try deflect. It won’t work but I feel the guy almost has us safe so he been treated really badly to be fair.

For what it is worth I don’t think he lost the players. I think the players played for him but we just not very good sadly.

Do we have to drop down to segunda for this board to take responsibility for what they’ve done???
Seriously!
