Iheanacho played again today vs Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup getting one assist.
Interesting analysis of the summer window. Looking fairly convincing as of today:
Any rumors y’all are hearing about winter transfers?
Yesterday I read that Ecuadorian midfielder Patrik Mercado is rumored to be a key target for Sevilla.
Honestly, didn’t sound like a terribly credible rumor, but I’d be lying of I said I wasn’t excited at the possibility.
According to AS, Cordon has scouted Fernando Gulli (AM/W) of San Lorenzo in Argentina. His release clause is approx €17 million but due to SL’s financial problems, he could be signed for less.
Looks to be a great prospect for sure and we need help in the midfield. 7 goals, 11 assists in 2,935 total minutes in all competitions last season with Independiente. Recently made his debut with the national team, playing 3 matches coming off the bench. Market value on TransferMarkt is 5 million.
Interesting - market value only 75K so I can’t imagine they would get anywhere close to that figure. Maybe a loan to buy option would be nice.
Also according to AS, the club are looking to move on Ramon Martinez and Alvaro Fernandez to free up squad & wage cap space. Seems like a smart move as neither player has featured much and both seem like backups to the backups.
Sergio Reguilón seems to be back in the mix for a possible addition. He is still without a club and there is rumors to be mutual interest.
Not sure where else to put this, but Nigeria somehow managed to screw up and not qualify for the world cup. bad news for Ejuke and Adams (and their global value). Hugely embarassing for Nigeria who should truly feel ashamed of themselves.
Shame we will not see their normal sick kits in the cup!
if they were managed half as well as they were dressed…
its really insane though. so much talent and yet such a dysfunctional program. sad. a country of over 200M diehard football fans deserves better.
Was looking forward to seeing a prime Osimhen on the biggest stage. Guy is lethal and deserves better than the Turkish league.
Reguilon was and still is a good signing, though him not being attached to a club and having no pre-season means he won’t hit the ground running, he’ll need the whole winter break to get his fitness levels back up at the very least.
I’m still scratching my head on how Galatasaray managed to pay 75m for Osimhen and then how he accepted to play there.
That is is better than getting lost from the football scene in Saudi Arabia or similar there’s no doubt. But still, Osimhen could walk in most of the starting lineups of big clubs in Europe.
Had high hopes for Alvaro having been impressed with him a few years ago. But he doesn’t seem to have developed into anything more than an average backup goalkeeper these days sadly.
I’ve listened to a few podcasts that covered his move to Turkey and it mostly boils down to money & Champions League football.
No big team wanted to spend a lot of money & wages on a player who is injury prone and would be unavailable during the AFCON tournament in January.
He wanted to play at a big team in the Champions League and win titles.
Galatasaray got help through larger sponsorship deals, some of which directly helped to fund the move. Galatasaray got another marquee player that could potentially help them become an established CL team.
He’s a free agent now. Any takers? ![]()
He doesn’t appear to have the legs (and some gained weight) from last i saw him. But someone with some technique & vision is desperately needed.
Our 3rd GK Álvaro Fernández has found himself a new home, and joins Deportivo after rescinding his contract.
Glad that situation’s resolved. One roster spot freed.
Was also relieved to see that this morning. I’m sure he’ll do great there. Anyone venturing to dream that we’ll be able to keep Vlachodimos after this season?
Worried to end up with basically no keeper continuity next season, as poor Nyland is getting up there in years and even when he arrived wasn’t terribly reliable
I’m hoping the city’s charm can get that deal done. Signing a Prem GK with our finances doesn’t seem like it’ll be a priority.
Ramos is available now. I say do it!
